We aimed to examine what university students first encountering general physics experiments expect from them. Expectation was defined as a personal attitude and belief toward what were to be learned, what techniques were needed, and what one should do. MPEX (The Maryland Physics Expectation Survey) was revised to assess the expectation for the general physics experiments in five dimensions, and it was applied to Korean university students and experts in related fields. The average scores for the five dimensions of the expectations, and for each item of the expectation, for general physics experiments university students and experts revealed significant differences in independence and the theory dimensions, with the students showing lower expectations from the general physics experiment compared to the experts. 본 연구는 일반물리학 실험에서 무엇을 배우고, 어떤 기술들을 필요로 하며, 무엇을 할 것인가에 대한 개인의 태도와 신념을 기대감이라고 정의하고 일반물리학실험을 처음 접하는 대학생들을 대상으로 일반물리학 실험에 대한 기대감을 알아보았다. 이를 위해 Maryland 대학팀이 개발한 설문지인 MPEX을 수정하여 일반물리학실험 기대감에 대해 5개의 하위영역을 갖는 검사 도구를 제작하고 우리나라 대학생들과 과학교육관련 전문가들에게 검사를 실시하였다. 대학생들의 일반물리학 실험에 대한 기대감의 5개 하위영역별, 문항별 평균을 알아보았으며, 전문가와 대학생들의 기대감 차이를 t-test를 이용하여 알아본 결과 Independence와 Theory link 영역에서 유의미한 차이를 보이며 전문가들에 비해 대학생들의 일반물리학 실험에 대한 기대감이 더 낮은 것으로 나타났다.
유방암종에서 p27kip1 단백의 세포 내 발현 위치와 예후와의 관련성

Background : p27 is a member of the cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK)inhibitors that arrest the progression of the cell cycle; thus, it acts as a tumor suppressor gene. The loss or decrease of p27 protein is frequently seen and this has an independent prognostic potential for many human cancers. p27 is functionally inactivated through accelerated proteolysis and cytoplasmic sequestration. Cytoplasmic mislocalization of p27 by abnormal phosphorylation in the tumor cells doesn’t allow it to bind and inhibit nuclear cyclin/CDK targets. Methods : We examined the p27 protein expression in 86 cases of invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast via immunohistochemical staining to evaluate the subcellular localization of p27 and its relationship with the clinicopathologic features and the prognostic factors. Results : The nuclear expression of p27 was noted in 48.9% of the tumors, a combined nuclear and cytoplasmic expression was noted in 20.9%, a cytoplasmic expression was noted in 12.8%, and a negative expression was noted in 17.4%. The decreased nuclear expression and/or cytoplasmic mislocalization of p27 were statistically correlated with the nuclear grade (p=0.001), histologic grade (p=0.036), tumor size (p=0.033), lymph node metastasis (p=0.043), ER (p=0.001), and PR (p=0.001) status, while they were not correlated with patient age, stage, HER2, p53, and Ki67. Conclusions : The breast tumors showing both decreased nuclear expression and cytoplasmic mislocalization of p27 are associated with a deranged cell cycle via functional inactivation and also with poor prognostic factors. It is expected that p27 can be a promising anticancer target molecule for the treatment of breast cancer.

화학검사의 정확성과 결과 해석에 영향을 미치는 요인은 에러가지가 있지만 그중 응혈은 여러가지 이유에서 중요한 의의를 가진다. 저자들은 현재 부산 백병원 임상병리과에서 일상 행해지고 있는 각종 화학검사법에 대해 용혈이 미치는 영향을 관찰하기위해 혈청내 유리 혈색소를 점차 증가시키면서 검사 결과치와의 상호관계를 정량적으로 관찰하였든 바, 대부분의 화학검사가 용혈의 심한 정도에 비례하여 영향을 받고 있고 그중에서도 효소종목이 가장 큰 변화를 보여 LDH, acid phosphatase, SGOT는 정상치를 벗어나 몇 배의 증가를 보이고 있다. 아주 소량의 용혈이 있어도 각종 검사는 비용혈 혈청에 비해 통계적으로도 유의한 변화를 보여 용혈에 의한 영향은 명백하므로 용혈이 있는 검체는 그 결과해석에 신중을 기해야 한다. Hemolysis is a common cause of unsatisfactory serum samples obtained for clinical chemistry analysis, because it affects the accuracy of the chemical determination and the interpretation of the laboratory results. We have studied the hemolytic effects on various chemistry values quantitavely, determined in Busan Paik Hospital Laboratory everday, by serially increasing serum flee hemoglobin concentration on nonhemolyzed control pooled serum. The results obtained are as fellows: 1.Most of the chemistry values are affected significantly by hemolysis, in direct proportion to the degree of hemolysis. 2.Among the chemical determinations, enzyme groups are most affected by hemolysis. Electolytes except for potassium are least affected and nonenzyme groups are noticeably affected by hemolysis. 3.Of the enzymes, LDH appears to be most sensitive to hemolysis and the total increase of 1485.4U/ml results in 4.6 folds higher than nonhemolyzed control serum. GOT, acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase, GPT, and Gamma-GTP are order of increasing rate by hemolysis. 4.Of the electolytes, potassium is most sensitive to hemolysis and shows an increase of 69.7% compared with nonhemolyzed control serum. Lesser effects are observed in inorganic phosphate, chloride and calcium. 5.Of the non-enzyme groups, BUN is markedly increased by hemolysis. Total protein and triglyceride are also significantly increased but glucose is rather decreased. 6.Several chemistry values, enzymes in particular, potassium, and non-enzymes, show significant changes even though in trace hemolysis, and we should dive careful attention in the interpretation of the results obtained from hemolyzed serum.
