        염생식물 해홍나물의 항톡소포자충 효과

        Toxoplasmosis is an important cause of foodborne, inflammatory illnesses, as well as congenital abnormalities. Currently available therapies are ineffective for persistent chronic disease and congenital toxoplasmosis or have severe side effects which may result in life-threatening complications. There is an urgent need for safe and effective therapies to eliminate or treat this cosmopolitan infectious disease. The aim of this study was to investigate the in vitro anti-Toxoplasma activities of Suaeda maritime, one of the halophytes, using tachyzoit of T. gondii RH strain infected HeLa cells. As the results, the selectivity of Suaeda maritime extract was 6.63, which was higher than Sulfadiazine selectivity (2.06). Also, we perfomed the cell proliferation inhibition test and the morphological study to evaluate the anti-T. gondii activity of Suaeda maritime extract with HeLa cells. As the results, the inhibition rate of the Suaeda maritime extract was high inhibition rate. This indicates that the Suaeda maritime extract may be used for new anti-T. gondii agent. 임상적으로 감염 시 치명적인 뇌염이나 유산을 일으키는 병원체인 톡소포자충의 치료제로 주로 사용되고 있는 설파디아진이 사용되고 있으나, 이들 약물들은 부작용과 약물 내성에 의한치료 실패 사례들이 자주 보고되고 있다. 이러한 이유로 톡소포자충에 대한 새로운 치료제의 개발 필요성이 대두되고 있으며,합성 화학약물들에 비교하여 부작용이 적고 안전성이 높은 천연물들을 원료로 한 톡소포자충의 치료가 모색되고 있다. 본 연구는 약용 작물로서 보존 활용가치가 높을 것으로 예상되는 염생식물인 해홍나물 에탄올 추출물을 이용하여 톡소플라즈마 원충에 대한 항원충 효과를 알아 보고자 수행 되었다. 본 연구 결과, 해홍나물 에탄올 추출물은 톡소포자충의 치료제로 임상에서 실제 톡소포자충의 치료로 사용되고 있는 설파다이아진의선택성 2.06 보다 해홍나물 에탄올 추출물의 선택성이 6.63으로 매우 높은 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 해홍나물 에탄올 추출물이 용량 의존적으로 톡소포자충에 감염된 HeLa 세포수를 감소시키는 것을 확인하였다. 톡소포자충에 감염된 세포에 해홍나물 에탄올 추출물을 농도별로 처리하여 감염 세포들의 형태학적 변화를 관찰한 결과, 해홍나물 에탄올 추출물의 적용 농도가높아질수록 톡소포자충 감염에 의한 세포의 형태적 변화를 감소시키는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과로부터 해홍나물은 향후 톡소포자충 치료에 합성 약물인 설파다이아진을 대체할 수있는 내성이 없는 천연물 소재로 개발될 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다.

        Measurement of 1,4-dioxane in surface water by headspace GC-MS

        1,4-Dioxane was classified as a Group 2B carcinogen by the International Agency for Research onCancer. The compound was measured in surface water with a headspace gas chromatographic mass spectrometricdetection. A 5 mL water sample was placed in a 10 mL headspace vial and saturated with NaCl, and thesolution was spiked with 1,4-dioxane-d8 as an internal standard and sealed with a cap. Water samples werecollected from twenty-two basins of Gum-River on June and September 2012, respectively. As a result, 1,4-dioxane was detected in the concentration range of 0.49-43.0 μg/L (mean 2.0 μg/L) in the frequency of about30% in surface water samples.

        차전초(Plantago asiatica L.)의 항톡소포자충증 효과

        적 요임상적으로 감염 시 치명적인 뇌염이나 유산을 일으키는 병원체인 톡소포자충의 치료제로 주로 사용되고 있는 설파디아진이 사용되고 있으나, 이들 약물들은 부작용과 약물 내성에 의한치료 실패 사례들이 자주 보고되고 있다. 이러한 이유로 톡소포자충에 대한 새로운 치료제의 개발 필요성이 대두되고 있으며, 합성 화학약물들에 비교하여 부작용이 적고 안전성이 높은 천연물들을 원료로 한 톡소포자충의 치료가 모색되고 있다. 본 연구는 약용 작물로서 보존 활용가치가 높을 것으로 예상되는 차전초 에탄올 추출물을 이용하여 톡소포자충 대한 항원충 효과를 알아보고자 수행 있다. 본 연구 결과, 차전초 에탄올 추출물은 톡소포자충의 치료제로 임상에서 실제 톡소포자충의 치료로사용되고 있는 설파디아진의 선택성 0.4 보다 차전초 에탄올 추출물의 선택성이 4.5으로 매우 높은 것을 알 수 있다. 본 차전초에탄올 추출물이 용량 의존적으로 톡소포자충에 감염된 HeLa 세포수를 감소시키는 것을 확인하였다. 톡소포자충에 감염된세포에 차전초 에탄올 추출물을 농도별로 처리하여 감염 세포들의 형태학적 변화를 관찰한 결과, 차전초 에탄올 추출물의 적용 농도가 높아질수록 톡소포자충 감염에 의한 세포의 형태적변화를 감소시키는 것을 알 수 있다. 이러한 결과로부터 차전초는 정상 세포에 독성이 적고 톡소포자충의 억제 능력이 우수하여 항톡소토자충 선택성이 높은 소재임을 알 수 있었다. 향후 차전초 추출물 소재는 현재 톡소포자충 치료에 사용되는 합성 약제의 부작용이 문제를 해결하고 효능과 안전성이 높은 천연물소재로 개발될 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다.         치과진료실에서 수행되는 치과진료 협조업무에 대한 질적연구 - 간호조무사를 중심으로 -

        Objectives: The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for elucidating the clinical experiences of nursing assistants working at dental clinics and for establishing the bases necessary for building a safe working environment for the staff at dental clinics. Methods: From March 28 to August 20, 2022, the study conducted in-depth interviews with nursing assistants working with dental hygienists in dental clinics. The collected data were analyzed using the phenomenological method. Results: The study analyzed the meanings associated with the dental clinical assistance work experiences of nursing assistants in dental clinics. A total of 98 semantic words and 9 sub-categories were extracted, which were ultimately categorized into 4 central meanings: ‘imperfect reality’, ‘work without boundaries’, ‘putting oneself in someone else’s shoes’, and ‘symbiosis’. Conclusions: The nursing assistants were exposed to an environment where they needed to perform delegated treatment procedures even when they lacked dental work competency. They recognized their gaps in learning and the necessity for designated roles as clinical assistants. Thus, it is necessary to review the allocation and expansion of the work roles of dental practitioners based on the practical and rational realities in dental practice.

        A Spontaneous Uterine Leiomyosarcoma in an Aged Mongolian Gerbil (Meriones unguiculatus)

        A spontaneous uterine leiomyosarcoma was observed in a 2-year-old female Mongolian gerbil (Meriones unguiculatus). Postmortem examination revealed that the left horn of the uterus was enlarged and nodular shaped. The masses were white, smooth, and glistened at the cut surfaces. Histologically, the pedunculated masses were continuous with the myometrium, which were composed of closely packed sheets of spindle cells embedded in richly vascularized stroma and covered by a discontinuous endometrial epithelium. A variably abundant clear to collagenous matrix separated the neoplastic cells, which had scant to moderate, fibrillar, frequently vacuolated eosinophilic cytoplasm with indistinct borders. The nuclei of these cells were irregularly round to oval with blunt ends, stippled chromatin and indistinct nucleoli. There was moderate nuclear and cellular pleomorphism, with pleomorphic cells that were more abundant in the larger masses. A few lymphocytes, plasma cells, macrophages, and hemosiderophages were scattered among the spindle cells. Several macrophages that contained darkbrownpigment were also present within the epithelium and superficial portions of the masses. Based on the hitopathological findings, this case was diagnosed as a uterine leiomyosarcoma in a Mongolian gerbil.

      • 천연샴푸가 반려견 피부의 유・수분 함량에 미치는 영향

        As the population ages, the number of households raising companion animals is increasing. Companion animal industry has recently been diversified through a combination of various industries such as beauty, rest, and insurance, and the share of this industry in the economy is gradually increasing. Dandruid keratoses, ticks, and various pathogenic bacteria are parasitized on the skin and hair of a dog to damage the hair and cause skin diseases. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of natural ingredients on the oil and moisture content of dog skin when using natural shampoos and using these shampoos. In this study, we measured the water content of four poodles of 1 year and 4 years old. The natural shampoo used in 4 rats was prepared and used directly. The results of this study showed that the water content in the forelimb of the experimental dog was almost unchanged when using the ordinary shampoo, but it increased with the use of the natural shampoo. Especially, when using natural shampoo for 3 weeks, it was confirmed that the water content of ordinary shampoo increased about 55.71% over 3 weeks. On the other hand, when using a general shampoo, the water content of the neck of the experimental dog was almost unchanged, and even when using the natural shampoo, the moisture content was almost unchanged. These results suggest that natural shampoos will have a better effect on maintaining the moisture content of companion animals compared to ordinary shampoos.

        User-Friendly Vendor-Specific Guideline for Pediatric Cardiothoracic Computed Tomography Provided by the Asian Society of Cardiovascular Imaging Congenital Heart Disease Study Group: Part 1. Imaging Techniques

        Optimal performance of pediatric cardiothoracic computed tomography (CT) is technically challenging and may need different approaches for different types of CT scanners. To meet the technical demands and improve clinical standards, a practical, user-friendly, and vendor-specific guideline for pediatric cardiothoracic CT needs to be developed for children with congenital heart disease (CHD). In this article, we have attempted to describe such guideline based on the consensus of experts in the Asian Society of Cardiovascular Imaging CHD Study Group. This first part describes the imaging techniques of pediatric cardiothoracic CT, and it includes recommendations for patient preparation, scan techniques, radiation dose, intravenous injection protocol, post-processing, and vendor-specific protocols.

        Development of a rapid isolation and culture method of wild type Mycoplasma spp. in pigs

        Mycoplasma spp. are extracellular bacteria that colonize on the respiratory epithelium of humans and animals. It is a causative agent of pneumonia commonly complicated by opportunistic infectious bacteria. Mycoplasma spp. infection cause relatively mild disease in the absence of environmental stressors, but when complicated by secondary bacterial invaders the resultant disease can cause obvious clinical disease and severe production losses in intensively reared pigs Mycoplasma spp. are highly fastidious bacteria, difficult to culture and slow growing. Many species of Mycoplasma spp. are important pathogens causing respiratory infection in animals and known to induce huge economic losses. The aims of the present study were to develop a rapid isolation and culture method of wild type Mycoplasma spp. in pigs. We used Mycoplasma spp. genus specific direct PCR without DNA extraction procedure using PhireⓇ Animal Tissue Direct PCR Kit from the lung tissues with pneumonia lesions. Therefore, we could save the time for tissue processing and increase the accuracy of Mycoplasma spp. inclusion prediction in lung tissues. Thereafter, we used the optimized media to isolate and culture Mycoplasma spp. As the results, Mycoplasma spp. could be isolated and cultured quickly and efficiently. These results could provide an efficient strategy and method for the rapid and accurate isolation and culture of wild type Mycoplasma spp. in pigs.
