        비대면 수준별 대학영어 수업에 대한 고찰: C대학 사례를 중심으로

        This study aims to investigate how learners’ academic achievement and satisfaction have changed via online level-differentiated college English classes in the last two years. Mock TOEIC tests were conducted at the beginning of the 1st semester and the end of the 2nd semester each year, and the results were compared and analyzed to verify the academic achievement of the learners. The results showed a decline in students’ English proficiency through online education both in 2020 and 2021. The drop in the TOEIC scores in 2021, however, was smaller than that of 2020. Surveys were also carried out to examine the satisfaction of the students with online level-differentiated classes. While low-level students seem to have experienced difficulty in a non-face-to-face environment, high-level learners showed much satisfaction in 2020. On the other hand, students of all levels expressed relatively high satisfaction in 2021, which shows that most students are well-adapted to the online class. Online education is expected to expand even after the covid-19 pandemic is over. Guidance and management from professors are required more than ever to improve learners' self-directed learning skills.

        The Use of Verbs in Spoken Corpus of EFL Learners

        이 논문의 목적은 EFL 한국인 학습자가 실제 영어 사용 상황에서 쓰는 동사를 연구하는 데 있다. 분석연구를 통해 학습자 코퍼스에서 나타나는 동사의 쓰임과 연어구성을 확인하였다. 본 연구 자료는 2010년 가을학기 교양영어 수업시간에 40명의 대학생들의 대화내용을 구축하여 활용하였다. 비교를 위해 BNC의 구어 부분을 활용하여 동사 내용을 함께 분석하였다. Wordsmith tools를 이용하여 비교분석한 결과 한국 학생들이 선호하는 동사의 특별한 특성들이 구어 코퍼스에서 확인되었다. 첫째, 빈도분석을 통해 한국인 학습자들이 특히 과잉사용하거나, 충분히 사용되지 않는 조동사와 탈어휘 동사들이 다수 확인되었다. 둘째, 동사의 연어구성을 분석하여 BNC 자료과 비교한 결과 제한된 구조의 연어 쓰임이 확인되었다. 동사는 언어사용에서 중요한 부분이며 다른 단어와의 연관성이 강하므로 EFL 학습자는 보다 폭넓은 동사활용에 관한 지식을 인식하도록 해야 하며 일정 수준까지 이를 학습하여야 한다. 또한 교수자 역시 코퍼스 자료 분석결과를 토대로 하여 실제 쓰이는 다양한 동사 활용에 관한 교수계획과 방법을 모색하여야 한다.

        대학영어 단계별 교육과정의 운영효과

        This study aims to investigate the overall implementation and its effects of the level-differentiated college English classes by evaluating the adequacy of the placement test and analyzing learners’academic achievement. 207 college freshman students took the placement test that was internally developed and were divided into six different levels of groups by the test results. The classification was verified to be appropriate by the Bonferroni Multiple Comparisons. This is good especially for learner-centered education since students can start learning that fits their own level. For the second goal of the research, the two mock TOEIC test scores were analyzed to find out whether or not English proficiency of the students was improved. The study indicated that there was a significant improvement in students' total TOEIC test scores. In particular, through the comparison with students taking general English classes, it is confirmed that the learners' academic achievement was remarkably improved. Accordingly, level-differentiated college English classes are believed to have had a significant impact on the learners’ English proficiency because the differentiated organization makes tailored learning contents and goals possible for each student.

        플립러닝(Flipped learning)과 직소(Jigsaw) 협동학습 융합을 통한 대학영어 독해수업의 운영효과

        The purpose of this study is to explore effects of Flipped-Jigsaw collaborative model in college English reading class and investigate the learner perceptions and satisfaction of the model. To achieve this goal, surveys were conducted in the fall semester of 2019, targeting freshman students. A total of 355 college students participated in the pre-questionnaire on the first week of the semester and 315 participants responded after the implementation of the Flipped-Jigsaw collaborative model. In parallel with the online survey, interviews were carried out with 12 students for an in-depth analysis. The results show that students were quite satisfied with the flipped-Jigsaw collaborative model of English reading class in its implementation and effects. Interview results also verified the high satisfaction of the students. Applying Flipped-Jigsaw collaborative model to English reading class will improve the satisfaction of students in their learning and thus, enhance the effectiveness of the education. Extended follow-up studies on this educational model are required based on this research.

        코로나19 이후 대학영어 수업에 대한 고찰: 대면ㆍ비대면 수준별 수업에서의 협동학습에 관한 학습자의 인식 비교

        This study aims to compare learners' perceptions of online non-face-to-face versus face-to-face classes and examine how learners perceive cooperative learning used to improve communication skills. To this end, a survey was conducted on students who had taken level-differentiated college English classes in the first-semester non-face-to-face and the second-semester face-to-face in 2022. We found the following results. First, learners expressed a slightly lower level of satisfaction with face-to-face classes than with non-face-to-face classes. Second, high-level students in both non-face-to-face and face-to-face classes reported significantly higher satisfaction levels with the professors’ teaching ability and communication and interaction with students. Finally, in both non-face-to-face and face-to-face classes, it was found that students recognized cooperative learning through communication with the professors and interaction between learners as meaningful. In the post-COVID-19 era, a blended teaching method that combines the advantages of face-to-face and non-face-to-face education with cooperative learning will be a good way to improve learners’ communication skills and motivate them to learn.         태아 사망을 보인 포진상 농가진

        Impetigo herpetiformis is a form of pustular psoriasis that occurs during pregnancy and may be life-threatening. The pathogenesis and etiology of impetigo herpetiformis is not clear, but several reports have associated onset of this disorder with hypocalcemia, hypoparathyroidism, and the use of oral contraceptives. The typical lesions are erythematous patches that are studded with tiny superficial pustules particularly coalescing at their margins causing pain, and a burning sensation. Laboratory findings include an elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate, increased peripheral blood leukocyte counts, hypoalbuminemia, and in severe cases, hypocalcemia. The histopathology is the same as that of pustula psoriasis. Our patient, a 31 year-old female (Intra Uterine Pregnancy 28 weeks), was admitted to our hospital due to generalized skin eruption and severe constitutional symptoms. Her clinical features, laboratory and histopathologic findings were compatible with that of impetigo herpetiformis. In spite of our all efforts, intrauterine fetal death was noted at her 33rd week of pregnancy. We report a case of impetigo herpetiformis terminating in fetal death with the review of literature. {Kor J Dermatol 1997;35(1): 150-154}

      • 제7차 교육과정에 의한 고등학교 영어 교과서 듣기 활동 분석

        The purpose of this study is to anlayze listening activities in high school English textbooks and to ascertain whether the results are applicable to the 7th national curriculum aims. Based on the analysis criteria presented by Morley(1991), Richards(1983), and Ur(1984), two different analysis cirteria were applied for an in-depth analysis of the listening activities involved in the textbooks. The results of the analysis show that the philosophy of the 7th national curriculum is properly reflected in some parts of the textbooks. On the other hand, some listening activitis in textbooks are emphasized insufficiently and improperly. Through the results of the study, it is presented that the textbook should be designed and improved for the development of students' listening abilities and their communicative competence with the contents of more various and balanced listening activities.
