Patient with complaints of swelling, pain in the maxillaly region and discomfort visited Seoul National University Dental Hospital in August last year. Clinical examination and diagnostic imagings implied he was suffered from fungal hyphal infection but no causative fungus was found by the histopathologic and microbiologic investigation. Therefore he was diagnosed with nonspecific inflammation. But as yet, we do think this case is very similar to some kinds of mucormycosis. So we presented this case for more thorough discussion.Followings are founded in the examination. 1. Patient had suffered from Diabetes mellitus and complained of stuffness, headache, swelling in buccal cheeks and paresthesia And we found more maxillary bony destruction and ulcer with elevated margin in the palate by clinical examination. 2. In the first visit, Plain films revealed general bony destruction of the maxilla, radiopaqueness in the sinonasal cavities. or and MRI showed soft tissue mass filled in the paranasal sinus except frontal sinus and bony destruction in involved bones. 3. No causative bacteria and fungus was found in the biopsy and microbiologic cultures. 4. Caldwell-Luc operation and curettage were carried and antJbiotics were taken for 4 months. But now he was worse than in the past 5. In the second visit, involvement of orbit, parapharyngeal sinus, clivus, cavernous sinus and middle cranial fossa were seen clearly in the or and MRI.

Factors affecting corrosion of stainless steels such as pH, oxidation and redox potential (ORP), soil resistivity, water content of soil, chloride ion concentration, bacteria activity, and corrosion potential have been investigated using soil analysis, bacterial analysis, surfacial analysis, and analysis of corrosion potentials of several stainless steels buried in 8 sites of Seoul metropolitan for one year. Corrosion potential was affected by occurrance of corrosion as well as bacteria activity but the behavior of corrosion potential with time is different depending on occurrance of corrosion and bacteria activity. The main factor affecting corrosion of stainless steels in soil is level of chloride ion concentration which is also a main factor affecting corrosion of stainless steels in chloride containing drinkable water, Furthermore, guideline of stainless steels in drinkable water is concluded to be applicable to that in soil by the results from surfacial analysis.

With the publication of John Crowe Ransom`s New Criticism, the critical term of “New Criticism” is widely used. New Criticism, which sees the poem as a work of art, is culminated in Ransom`s ontological theory of poetry. Ransom prefers the “Metaphysical Poetry” of miraculism to the “Physical Poetry” of things and the Platonic poetry of pure ideas. He sees the poetic text as an embodiment of the evil of reality, the world`s body. For him, the poetic text is an organism, with each part functioning to produce a whole, a verbal icon reflection a body of world of irony, paradox, and metaphor. Like human life intricately involved with the constant struggle of good and bad caused by Original Sin, it is a concrete world, contrasted with the science of the abstract ideas. In an attempt to treat an order of existence, poetry fuses the local texture of rhythm, metaphor, wit, and images, and of the logical structure of the prose content. In this attempt the tension between the texture and the structure is inevitable. But this tension, which is peculiar to poetic ontology, contributes to the restoration of the world`s body emptied by science which deals in pure symbols. Ransom`s aesthetic position aims at a close reading of the poetic text in which the ontology of evil is embodied in a coherent way. Therefore, his new critical position is to divert our attention from the poet to the poem itself.

William Carlos Williams`s Poetics of the Incarnation

William Carlos Williams has been read as a poet of reality, meaning a non-religious poet. This paper aims to consider William Carlos Williams as a religious poet, presenting a new way to read his poetry. Religion was for Williams no more than knowledge of the earth. Believing that the artist is limited to the range of his contact with the objective world, Williams attempted to write poetry to effect "the shock of immediacy." Williams`s poetic mission is to proclaim a poetics of immediacy, "No ideas but in things." Williams`s poetics is a radical Christian hermeneutics of the Incarnation, the Word made flesh, rejecting the poetry of ideas propounded by such poets as T. S. Eliot who accommodated the traditional Christian doctrine of the sinfulness of man into his poetry. Williams might be called a literary prophet who propagates the poetry of the things rather than the poetry of the ideas which gave birth to the poetry of symbolism.

Charles Olson attempted to reject the dead, symbolic language of the Greek philosophy and Christian doctrine and to revive the kinetics of the thing which leads us to recognize the unity of the body and the spirit and the identity of man and nature. and man and the universe. This attempt led him to quest for the origin of the words, which led him, in turn, to the breath by way of which the reciprocal action of the heart and the ear gives birth to the syllable of the word and the poetic line, which is similar to the rhythm of the universe interconnected with the systole and diastole of man’s breath. He called this kind of poem “Projective,” “open,” or “kinetic.” This poetic vision, based on the belief of man’s divinity, is strikingly different from T. S. Eliot’s modernist poetic theory, theory of “closed” poetic form rooted in the Biblical mythology of man’s Fall. Olson’s Projective theory of poetry, rejecting an art of work controlled by preconceived form, aims to free poetry from its whole conventions with emphasis on the process of poetic writing.

Fe와 galvanic couPle된 알루미늄의 내식성에 미치는 마그네슘의 영향

Effects of magnesium and pH on corrosion of aluminum galvanically coupled to iron have studied by using potentio-dynamic and static tests for polarization curves, Mott-Schottky test for analysis of semiconductor property, and GD-AES and XPS for film analysis. Pitting potential was sensitive to magnesium as an alloying element but not to pH. while passive current was sensitive to pH but not to magnesium. It was explained with, instead of point defect model (PDM). surface charge model describing that the ingression of chloride depends on the state of surface charge and passive film at film/solution interface is affected by p11. In addition, galvanic current of aluminum electrically coupled to iron was not affected by magnesium in pH 8.4, 0.2M citrate solution but was increased by magnesium at the solution of p1-I 9.1. The galvanic current at pH 9.1 increased with time at the initial stage and after the exposure of about 200 minute. decreased and stabilized. The behavior of the galvanic current was related with the concentration of magnesium at the surface, It agreed with the depletion of magnesium at the oxide surface by using glow discharge atomic emission spectroscopy (GD-AES). In addition, pitting potential of pure aluminum was reduced in neutral p11 solution where chloride ion maybe are competitively adsorbed on pure aluminum. It was confirmed by the exponential decrease of pitting potential with log of [Cl] around 0.025 M of [Ci] and linear decrease of the pitting potential. From the above results, unlike magnesium, alloying elements with higher electron negativity, lowering isoelectric point (ISE), are recommended to be added to improve pitting corrosion resistance of aluminum and its alloys in neutral solutions as well as their galvanic corrosion resistance in weakly basic solutions.

The Bible is the sources of the poetic visions of Walt Whitman and T. S. Eliot. Their poetic visions, however, are quite different from each other, not only because of the differences of the religious backgrounds of their own inner worlds. but also because of their own religious sensibility. Whitman was born in a Quaker family and Eliot in a Puritan family which had turned a Unitarian, but their own religious sensibility was more instrumental in making their poetic visions similar and different. Their religious sensibilities were nurtured by their reading of the Bible, but their understandings of it were so quite different from each other. While Whitman had faith in man`s divinity and sang of the unity of body and soul, Eliot believed in man`s sinfulness and illustrated the disunity of body and soul. The similarities and differences of their poetic visions were formulated by their religious sensibilities. The differences of their poetic visions gave birth to the different poetic techniques, but their similarities lie in their ultimate goals to find their identities and reach God. While Whitman, regarding sex as divine, stands naked proudly before God the Elder Brother as a Young Brother, Eliot, regarding sex as the source of original sin, humbly kneeled down dressed as a sinner before God the Lord.
