To predict the aerodynamic characteristics of the grid fins from subsonic to supersonic speeds, low fidelity SW as well as CFD SW were applied. VLM(Vortex Lattice Method) and SE(Shock-Expansion) method were used at subsonic and supersonic speed domain respectively for the rapid prediction of low fidelity SW. For 2 configurations of the grid fins, the CFD computations and tests using the trisonic wind tunnel were also performed to compare the results of the grid fins. The results of low fidelity SW, CFD SW and the wind tunnel tests data were agreed well each other. Through further research on the grid fins, the effective parameters of the grid fin configurations according to the speed regime will be investigated.

Parametric studies are performed of the factors influencing the afterbody drag. To display the effect of differing afterbody shapes, several ogive boattails with combinations of the base area and the angle of boattail end are computed using axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equations with central differencing and a DADI scheme. And Chien's k-e model is employed used for computations of turbulent flows around the base region. The effects of base area, hoattail angle and jet on/off are illustrated on afterbody drag at transonic speed.

Although arthralgia with or without hyperuricemia commonly occurs in a patient receiving antituberculous treatment including pyrazinamide, acute gouty arthritis is rarely reported. Here we report a case of acute gouty arthritis presented after antituberculous treatment in a patient with asymptomatic hyperuricemia and mild renal insufficiency. A 76-year-old woman complained sudden onset of painful swelling in both first metatarsophalangeal joints 9 weeks after antituberculous treatment. She had hypertensive nephropathy with mild renal insufficiency and asymptomatic hyperuricemia for 8 years. Needle aspiration of the joint fluid demonstrated needle-shaped strongly negative birefringent monosodium urate crystal. The painful swelling improved with steroid and colchicine.

Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is characterized by vascular thrombosis in association with elevated titers of antiphospholipid antibodies. Leg ulcers are a considered to be a cutaneous manifestation of APS due to thrombosis of small to medium sized vessels. We report a case of necrotic non-healing, ankle ulcers mimicking pyoderma gangrenosum associated with APS in 50-year-old man. He had a past history of autoimmune thrombocytopenia and cerebral infarction. Laboratory findings showed a circulating lupus anticoagulant, positive anticardiolipin antibodies as well as anti-dsDNA and anti-Sm antibodies. Skin biopsy of ulcer lesions showed thrombotic vasculopathy of medium sized vessels with minimal leukocyte infiltration. Ulcers were successfully treated with surgical debridement and subsequent skin graft along with anticoagulation therapy.
Effect of Wall Curvature on Curved Duct Flows

Effect of wall curvature on flow characteristics is studied for mildly and strongly curved duct flows. The ducts are S-sbaped, and the flow is partially blocked at the rear of the downstream. The presence of blockage in combination with curvature generates secondary flows on the concave surface; the magnitude of the secondary flow being dependent on the degree of wall curvature. Objectives are to compare the flow structures for mild and strong cases and to illuminate the changes in flow structure as the flow turns. Sensitivity on numerical solutions due to different inflow boundary conditions is also examined.

Side jet effect on the aerodynamic characteristics of a missile was investigated using experimental and computational methods. A couple of side jets were injected toward outward downstream at mid point of missile body. Cold air jet was used in the wind tunnel test, and cold and hot jet were used in the computation. Wind tunnel test was carried out with jet and without jet, and calculation was performed for three cases ; no jet, cold air jet, and hot mixture gas jet. From the comparison of measured and calculated data for all cases, two points could be deduced. Firstly, side jet made static stability to be unstable by increasing body normal force near the side jet exit and by decreasing tail normal force. Secondly, hot mixture gas had more significant effect on the static stability of a missile-type body than cold air jet.
