The purpose of this study is to analyze the current status of augmented reality picture books, which have been steadily developed since 2010, as a genre of electronic picture books, and to reveal how children's immersion in augmented reality picture books differs from paper picture books. To this end, 30 augmented reality picture books on the market were analyzed according to genre, life theme, implementation method, and augmented reality scene ratio. As a result of the study, it was found that the genre of picture books was in the order of information fairy tales, daily fairy tales, and historical fairy tales, and there were no traditional or fantasy fairy tales. Animals and plants accounted for about half of the life topics, and in some cases, there were only a few or no other life topics. In the augmented reality implementation scene, it consisted of only one page in the early days, but all pages are now possible to implement augmented reality due to technology development, production cost reduction, and improved hardware performance of smartphones. It was found that the augmented reality implementation method used CD-ROM in the early days, but gradually became possible to implement using only mobile phones and tablets that were easy for readers to access. In addition, after presenting four picture books to eight 5-year-old infants, the immersion time was measured and the immersion behavior was observed. As a result, augmented reality picture books showed higher immersion[immersion time, immersion behavior] than paper picture books, but compared by literature genre, life fairy tales were higher in paper picture books and natural fairy tales in augmented reality picture books. It was higher when presenting augmented reality picture books after presenting paper picture books according to the order of presentation of picture book types. The results of this study suggest that more diverse life topics and augmented reality picture books in the genre of children's literature should be developed to increase the utilization of augmented reality picture books. In addition, considering that there are differences in immersion between types, literary genres, and reading experience [presentation order], it is expected to increase the educational effect by using picture books complementarily.

When the Korean government announced the lowering of the school entrance age from 6 to 5 years in an effort to increase the fertility rate, one candidate for the Seoul mayor rode on the slogan, ‘one dong, one public kindergarten’. This study attempted to show the introduction of a preschool class for six-year-olds being used as analternative to lowering school entrance age in Sweden. First, the current state of preschool class, the Early Childhood Education and Care, and the education system in Sweden were described. Next, the background for the introduction of the preschool classes was analyzed. Thirdly, the effects of preschool class were evaluated from the perspectives of 6 year-olds as well as the institutiona land social status of the ECEC. Results from this study imply not only that the lower school entrance age policy should be abolished but also preschool classes could be considered as an alternative.

This study was conducted to investigate the antecedents of teachers' science teaching efficacy in day-care setting. Also, this study aimed to identify relationships between day-care teachers' personal science teaching efficacy and their perspectives on early childhood science education. The subjects were 176 day-care teachers in rural area of ChoongCheongNam-Do. The survey method was used to collect data from the day-care teacher. The instrument were Rigg & Enochs(1990)'s Science Teaching Efficacy Belief and Kim(1998)'s scales for the Goals in Early Childhood Science Education. Main results were as follows: 1. Day-care teachers' personal science teaching efficacy were significantly related with the personal variables such as teachers' education, in-service science workshops, science book reading, science-related hobby but not with teachers' age, pre-service science credits and total years of teaching experience. 2. Among the environmental variables, science activity areas were significantly associated with day-care teachers' personal science teaching efficacy. However, location of day-care center, age of children, number of children, teacher-child ratio, facilities for science education and scheduled time for science education did not affect it. 3. Day-care teachers of high content- and process-oriented goals in early childhood science education were highly efficacious teacher, while the teachers of low content- and process-oriented perspectives gained the lowest score. However, the content-oriented teachers and the process-oriented teachers did not differ in terms of day-care teachers' personal science teaching efficacy.

The fertility rate of Korea has rapidly decreased to the lowest in the World. The fertility rate below replacement fertility level might result in many social problems. First, this study investigated the cause of low fertility rate. Second, the theories of the relationship between fertility rate and women's employment were reviewed. The previous studies suggested that the fertility rate was not always related to women's employment negatively and there was mediating factors between them. Third, the various factors that mediated the negative relationship between fertility rate and women's employment were described in personal, family and social levels. Finally, this study suggested the policies and strategies to solve the low fertility rate problem in Korea.
영아 및 부모 특성과 12개월 영아의 발달적 특성 관계 연구

본 연구에서는 12개월 영아의 의사소통, 문제해결, 사회적 기술 등 영아발달의 일반적인 경향과 관련 변인을 밝히고자 ASQ로 영아의 발달을 측정하고, 영아의 기질, 어머니의 양육신념, 아버지의 양육분담 등을 조사하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 전반적으로 만 12개월 영아는 다른 영역에 비해 문제해결 영역에서 가장 높은 점수를 보였으며, 문항별 수행은 대체로 ASQ에서 제시한 난이도 순서를 따르고 있었으나 몇몇 문항에서 예외가 발견되었다. 둘째, ASQ의 몇몇 문항에서 성차가 나타났으며, 발달 영역 간에는 비교적 높은 상관이 있었으나 남아의 경우 문제해결과 사회적 기술 간에는 유의한 상관이 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 영아의 발달과 관련된 변인은 발달영역별로 차이가 있었으나 영아의 성별과 기질, 어머니의 학력과 아버지의 양육분담 등이 주요 변인으로 발견되었다. The purpose of this study was to investigate infants-communication, problem-solving and social skills at the age of 12 month. One hundred ten infants of 12 month old participated in the study. The results were as follows. First, the infants obtained much higher score on problem-solving area than on communication area or on social skill area. Second, there were relatively high correlation between developmental areas except a boy`s problem solving and social development area. Third, an infant`s sex and temperament, mother`s education and father`s participation of child-rearing were significantly related with communication, problem-solving and social development.
유아교육기관에서 모래상자놀이를 통한 부적응아의 치료사례 연구

This study explores the therapeutic effectiveness of sand play in an early childhood education setting. Sand play was employed in two instances. One was a case of an oppositional defiant disorder child (4 years and 3 months) and the other was a separation anxiety disorder child (4 years and 9 months). For the pre-test, DSM-IV, K-CBCL, and HTP were used. The head teacher of the kindergarten, after the 1 year training of child therapy, individually implemented 13 sand play sessions to each subject respectively. A K-CBCL was again used for the post-test. Also, sand play scenes and narratives of the sand worlds they created were analyzed. The main findings of this study are as follows: Both instances of use were found to be successful though they had somewhat different approaches to the process and speed of the therapy. The differences of the scores between the pre-test and the post-test were most remarkable in dealing with the problem of aggression in the oppositional defiant disorder child. In the case of separation anxiety disorder, the problem of withdrawal was significantly decreased. The success evidenced in these two examples emphasizes the importance of a school integrative approach.

This study introduces the construct of meta-parenting or a superordinate category of effortful cognition, including anticipation, assessment, reflectionand problems. Also, it aims to analyse meta-parenting in terms of demographic variables and investigate how it relates to other cognitions on parenting and parenting behaviors. One hundred seventy three mothers of preschool children were surveyed on Hawk’s (2007) Meta-Parenting, Samer off and FeiL’s (1985) Concepts of Development, Stipek, Danniels, Galluzzo, & Milburn’s (1992) Activities Sub-scales. They also commented on their views of appropriate methods of child-rearing and the starting age of extra-curricula activity and the number of extra-curricula activities. The main results were as follows: Mothers showed the highest score on assessment followed by anticipation, reflection and problems while these four components of meta-parenting were highly correlated to each other. Among demographic variables, only the mothers’ age and education were linked to some component of meta-parenting. Meta-parenting was correlated with complexity of thinking but not with views on appropriate methods of child-rearing. Also, meta-parenting was associated with formal and informal activities at home and the beginning time of providing the extra-curricula activity with the total number of extra-curricula activities provided at present.
미술을 통한 수학교육이 유아의 수학적 지식과 태도에 미치는 영향

This study investigates the effect of Math Education through Art program on young children`s mathematical knowledge and attitude. The subjects, all 4-years-olds, were divided into two groups. One group, as a experimental group (n=23), was exposed to MEA program for seven and the second served as a control group (n=23). The instruments for pre-test and post-test were the mathematics domain of Lee et. al.(1993)`s School Readiness Test and the portfolio-based assessment for mathematical attitude. The major results are as follows: first, the MEA program was effective for enhancement of most domains of mathematical knowledge of young children with the exception of the `time concept`; second, the MEA program demonstrated no significant effects of the mathematical attitude of young children. Implications of these results are discussed.

This study is to compare the quality of child care centers in Sweden and Korea and the mothers' satisfaction of each center. In this study, the quality of 27 preschools in Sweden and 24 child care centers was evaluated by external evaluator using the Early Childhood Environment Hating Scale (ECERS). A total of 436 Korean mothers and 197 Swedish mothers responded to the questionnaire regarding their satisfaction of their child's attending child care centers. The results show that the quality of Swedish preschool was significantly higher than Korean child care centers The quality of Swedish preschools tended to be good whereas the quality of Korean child care centers was somewhat minimal Specifically, the category of 'Furnishings and display for children' was the highest score in Swedish preschool, however, the category of 'Adult needs' was the highest score in Korean child care centers. The mothers' satisfaction of the centers was significantly different between two countries. The Swedish mothers were highly satisfied with the close location of preschool but Korean mothers were highly satisfied with the teachers of child care centers. However, both mothers in two countries were less likely satisfied with the facility equipments. The results were discussed in terms of cultural and child care program differences further.

Many parents recognize the importance of social development during early childhood but they feel difficulty in helping their children develop socially. Recently, many researchers have suggested that maternal cognition is an important factor on their parenting behavior and children's development. Thus, this study attempted to investigate the mother's perception and attribution of parenting efficacy for children's social development. Total 247 mothers of three to five year-old children reported self-questionnaire consisting of Melson, Ladd, & Hsu(1993)'s Perceived Difficulty at Parenting Tasks, Criniic & Greenberg(1990)'s Parenting Daily Hassles and Abdin(1990)'s Parenting Alliance Inventory. Also, 82 of the subject's children were individually tested with McGinnis & Goldstein(1990)'s Skill Situations Measure. The major results were as follows: 1) Mothers' parenting efficacy for children's social development was significantly related with child's age, mother's education and the father's cooperation of parenting. 2) Mothers' perceived parenting efficacy was significantly correlated with some dimension of the child's actual social skill (i.e., maintenance of peer relation). 3) Mothers of young children were more likely to attribute to their children for their parenting efficacy than those of old children. 4) Mothers were more likely attribute to their children than themselves when they perceive parenting difficult. 5) Mothers who perceive parenting easy and attributed it to their children had less parenting stress than those of attributing it to themselves.
