The purpose of this study is to examine a conceptualization of the professional tourist guide's role and to improve of the qualifying license system based on the role. In this paper, a general analytical approach to the tourist guides has been proposed, and analysed the current problem of license system of tourist guides in Korea. From this study I have found that the license system has various problem in meeting nest decade and the findings are as follow; First, It is need to make a evaluation criteria of interview test in the point of basic sphere. Second, It is need to make a test in regard of a problem-solving in social relationship, leadership. Third, It is need to evaluate about role of mediatory, that is, improvement of communicatitive ability, heritage interpretation, and cross-cultural studies.
