        도로공사 유지관리 표준화 절차 개발을 위한 벤치마킹

        Recently, the paradigm of SOC investment has shifted from new construction to maintenance. This shift became more important for the highway system because it is as one of the most important SOC. In Korea, highway maintenance costs are about 20% of the total annual highway construction budget, which is about two-thirds of developed countries. In addition, establishing standardized guidelines for the highway maintenance operation is not in place. Therefore, in order for domestic road construction and maintenance technology to secure competitiveness in the global construction market, it is urgent to improve the management capacity for maintenance as well as the technology and management capacity. This study examines highway maintenance practices in OECD countries such as North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan to identify core elements of highway maintenance practice. It is imperative to establish a comprehensive management system based upon asset management principle. Even if the budget for the highway construction is reduced, investment in maintenance needs to be maintained.

        Development of an Ontological Cost Estimating Knowledge Framework for EPC Projects

        This research standardizes a knowledge structure for estimation in the construction field by creating a method to enhance cost management efficiency of construction projects while meeting the need for reusability of accumulated construction information. The construction knowledge structure was developed to execute the project cost estimation with an ontological concept. The knowledge framework was defined and relevant examples were addressed to explain the structure. The detailed estimation process and methodology for using standard unit price information was also developed to strengthen cost information interoperability by utilizing standard classification systems, such as MasterFormat, UniFormat, UniClass, and ISO 12006. This concept may be proposed as a method of connecting construction information based on a standard cost classification system in order to improve estimation efficiency by increasing the connectivity of cost information. Ontology can be a powerful tool when used in conjunction with interoperability to manage the massive volume of construction information for cost management. This methodology can expand to integrated management in cost and time to derive additional classes for work breakdown structure (WBS). Thus, ontology may improve the efficiency of cost estimation and systematization by reusing construction information. As a further step, the interoperability method will enhance overall construction project management.

        EPC 모듈러 프로젝트의 원가·공정 통합연계관리 지침서 개발

        The rate of application of the modular plant in the plant industry is increasing, and for the success of the modularization projects, it is essential to develop and implement a systemized methodology across all phases of the project. However, Korean EPC firms lack project management capability when it comes to apply standardized methodology. Therefore, it is important to establish and systematize the cost/schedule integrated management method which are the two core elements of project management technology. This study was conducted to develop a methodology and guidelines for integrated management process for modular plant projects. The researchers developed a methodology for planning and managing cost and schedule, and integrated by module unit. Integrated cost and schedule methodology and guidelines developed can be used for various EPC modular plant projects to enhance the efficiency of project management.
