대방군왕 작호에 대한 고찰 - 중국과 백제의 관계로부터 -

본고는 당나라가 백제를 대방군왕 작호로 책봉한 것으로부터 대방군왕의 유래 및 정치적 의의에 대한 연구에 근거하여 6세기 말부터 8세기까지 중국과 백제의 정치적 관계에 대하여 서술하였다. 북제와 수조시기에는 백제왕을 대방군공으로 책봉하였고, 전연과 후연에서는 모용씨 귀족을 대방왕으로 책봉하였다. 그리고 북위에서는 무신을 대방공으로 책봉하였으며, 당나라에서는 대방군왕에게 작호를 하사하였다. 314년, 백제는 대방군을 점령하고 그 체제를 그대로 계승하였다. 전연, 후연, 북연은 모두 관할 경내에 대방군이라는 지명을 쓰고 「삼연」과 백제는 모두 「대방태수」라는 관직을 설립하였다. 북위, 동위에서도 대방현을 설치하였으며, 이로써 「대방」이라는 단어는 여러 가지 기능을 지닌 작호로 사용하게 되었다. 이는 한진제국의 정치제도가 후기 조대에도 일정한 영향을 미쳤다는 것을 체현하기도 하였다. 북제는 무평 원년(570)에 번신인 백제왕 (위덕왕)을 대방군공으로 책봉하였고 이는 개황 원년(581) 수문제가 위덕왕에 대한 책봉까지 이어졌다. 당나라 초기(624) 국내·외 형세의 제한으로 백제왕을 책봉할 때 고구려와 신라의 군주들과 함께 군왕으로 책봉하였다. 당과 백제의 책봉은 정치적 관계에 따라 변하였다. 백제가 멸망한 뒤 당나라는 잠시 대방군왕의 작호를 폐지하였지만 백제의 안정국세의 수요로 대방군왕의 작호를 다시 부여융에게 책봉하였고 손자인 부여경에게도 책봉하였다. 당 현종은 개원 23년(724) 봉선대전에서 「백제대방왕」과 「고려조선왕」을 「內蕃之臣」의 수석으로 배열하였다. 이는 당에 귀속한 백제와 고구려인들이 당조 번족 속에서의 숭고한 지위를 차지하고 있다는 것을 암시한다. 대방주는 당나라가 백제 통치지역에서의 특수한 지리적 위치로 인하여 당의 통치자가 백제고지에 대하여 지배의식을 가졌다는 것을 찾아 볼 수 있고, 당은 「대방」이라는 지명을 백제 지역과 고대 대 방군현을 연계시키려는 역사적 상상으로 볼 수 있다 The subject of this study is the title of Baekje King, `Daifang Dukes/ Daifang King`(帶方郡公/帶方郡王), which was canonized by Chinese emperor. Through research on the origin meaning and political significance of the title, we found several details of political relations between China and Baekje from the late 6th century to the 8th century. Direct source of the `Daifang King` in Tang Dynasty is `Daifang Dukes` of the Northern Qi and Sui for Baekje King. `Daifang King` that Former Yan and Later Yan two dynasties of Murong Xianbei(慕容鮮卑)canonized its domestic nobleman and Northern Wei dynasty canonized its domestic military generals are the source of the Northern Qi Dynasty earlier origin. Baekje have set a new Daifang Prefecture (帶方郡) after China`s Daifang Prefecture was annihilated in 314. Former Yan, Later Yan and Northern Yan are also set new Daifang Prefecture (帶方郡) in their respective kingdom, so the four countries, Baekje and the `Three-Yan`(三燕), all have a official named Daifang Prefecture (帶方太守). The Northern Wei and Eastern Wei also have set Daifang County(帶方縣) in their country. In a word, the term `Daifang` as a place name had been a long heritage, evolving into a feature-rich politic word. It reflects the influence of the political legacy of the Chinese Empire in those various countries. In 570, Northern Qi Dynasty had canonized the vassal Baekje King(Wideok King) the title `Daifang Dukes` creatively, which was continued in 581 when Emperor of Sui canonized Baekje King(Wideok King). The Baekje King was canonized by the Tang Dynasty in 624, because of Chershing Men from Afar`s(懷柔遠人) needs, the Baekje, Koguryo and Silla monarch was upgraded from the Duke to King by the First Emperor of Empire Li Yuan at the same time. When the political relations between Tang and Baekje changed, the canonized title was always unchanged simultaneously. After the demise of Baekje, Tang briefly abandoned the use of `Daifang King`. However, Tang restore this title very soon on account of the situation of Baekje: They put the title of Daifang King on the former prince Buyeo Yung`s head and later on his grandson Buyeo Gyeong s head. In 724, in the Fengshan Ceremony(封禪大典) of Emperor Xuanzong era of the Tang Dynasty, `Baekje Daifang King`(百濟帶方王) and `Koryo Chosun King`(高麗朝鮮王) were sitting in the first row of the vassal, indicating that the Baekje and Koguryo people have a high position in Tang`s family. As a special region in the former-Baekje territory under Tang, Daifang Prefecture (帶方州), embodies the rule of the Tang Empire. The geographical name, `Daifang`, show that the Tang Dynasty put former-Baekje territory and ancient Daifang Prefecture/Daifang County(帶方郡/縣) together, which is a historical imagination.
