<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Photo-conversion of CO2 into valuable solar fuels under the light irradiation is one of the most environmentally-friendly and economical technologies for reducing the CO2 emissions. Nanostructured metal oxides and compound semiconductors have been applied as photocatalysts for CO2 conversion. Especially, nanoparticulate and nanoporous materials have been studied extensively as photocatalysts owing to their reduced dimensions for electron transport, high surface areas, catalytic activity, and shorter diffusion pathway for the reactants. Transition metal oxides have long been studied as photocatalysts, however, these materials show low CO2 conversion efficiencies because of their wide band gap, which results in poor light absorption characteristics in the visible range. To improve the photocatalytic activity of CO2 conversion, alternative compound semiconductors with high visible absorption light absorption properties have been considered as photocatalysts for CO2 conversion. In this study, the effect of nanostructures on the photocatalytic conversion of CO2 to other chemicals on transition metal oxides and compound semiconductors are compared and the promising research directions to design photocatalysts for CO2 conversion performance enhancement are proposed.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Photocatalytic CO2 conversion efficiencies on nanostructured materials are compared. </LI> <LI> Dependency of CO2 conversion on the morphologies and light absorption properties is evaluated. </LI> <LI> Compound semiconductors exhibit higher conversion efficiency than metal oxides. </LI> <LI> Nanoporous materials show higher conversion efficiencies than non-porous nano-materials. </LI> </UL> </P>

The purpose of this study was to find out the residents' consciousness of the unit plan on condominium apartment and to contribute to develop a condominium apartment unit plan in Daejeon City. This research was performed by a questionnaire survey method, 464 data was collected from apartment residents lived in about $85\;m^2$ unit with 3 rooms and the apartments was limited to the complexes within 1-4 years of the length of building at Yuseong-gu and Seo-gu. By analyzing those data, findings are as follows: 1) Residents thought living room, kitchen and bathroom were importment space in a unit plan. They needed a storage function in an entrance and a intermediate room, and Anbang(mater bedroom) so did. 2) L-DK plan type was very popular and the type of front DK with L on the floor plan was preferred. This was unique results. 3) Sub-kitchen was needed for a refrigerator of Kimchi, the location of it was related to a main kitchen and a utility. the third room was needed for library, home office and storage space. 3) Bath-tub in An-bang and showe-booth in public bathroom was preferred. This was same to the popular trend of Korean condominium apartment. 4) The enlargment remodeling of balcony was showed livingroom balcony or personal bedrooms at the time of occupancy. They needed the balcony near a kitchen or an utility to equip a storage facility. Additionally, residents were preferred to their taste rather than a choice of interior concept package services.

The purpose of this study is to find out the changes on the metropolitan condominium apartment unit plans based on the interior spaces related to women such An-bang (master bedroom), bathroom and attached spaces to the master bedroom, living room, diningroom, kitchen, utility room, and balcony. This study used the content analysis method and space syntax. Contents were limited to the floor plans with 3 rooms type and about 105 m2 in the Korean apartment encyclopedia. The unit plans of 2,278, built from October 1975 to January 2008, were analyzed and basically SPSS package 16.0 was employed. The results were as followed. 1) Living room was a core space and an increasing tendency. After 2001, the design trend of living room connected with kitchen and dining room, and dining room changed into one space combining with women's working space such kitchen. It meaned women's working activities became into family public activities as to depending open access. 2) Kitchen had a characteristics that was connected to utility room or back balcony, and the number of extra kitchen increased. Also, the size of DK decreased, but utility size little increased. It was showed the characteristic of this space was still for women. 3) An-bang had a little strong characteristics of married coulpe or women's personal space with bathroom or dress room/powder room. 4) In addition, the values of integration and control of living room and DK were highest. It meant these space were centered in unit plans. Next, the An-bang and dress room/powder room were high. Utility room or balcony's were next, and these were women's working space. Therefore, family's public space was most important, and married couple or women's personal and working space were later in planning.

This study examined significant factors explaining college students' place attachment to their childhood homes, developed the scale of that, and proposed statistically significant models to explain their place attachment to those home environments. We conducted a questionnaire survey with 32 items. Responses from 358 Michigan State University students were analyzed statistically. From the explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis, 31 items under 4 valid factors named Place dependence, Affection, Rootedness, and Place identity were obtained. This study additionally adapted six types of place attachment to childhood homes from Hess (1997), and examined these types. Idealization (Type1), affection (Type3), and transcendence (Type5) were chosen most often. Finally, this study explored the relationships between housing satisfaction and (1) the four place attachment factors and (2) the six types of place attachment. Results showed the four place attachment factors were more strongly related with housing satisfaction.
