Titanium dioxide (TiO<sub>2</sub>) as a material for photocatalyst has been studied with decomposition of organic compounds with advantages such as low-cost, low-toxicity, high-catalytic activity and chemical stability. The synthesis and characterization of TiO<sub>2</sub>, in this study, were focused depending on various condition of calcination temperatures. TiO<sub>2</sub> was finally synthesized by calcination at 200 °C ~ 900 °C of the titanium glycolate, which was immediate substrate obtained from precursor. The band gaps of nanoporous TiO<sub>2</sub> at 200, 500, 700, and 900 °C were 3.0349 eV, 2.6492 eV, 2.0614 eV, 2.0504 eV, respectively, which is lower than the known TiO<sub>2</sub> band gap of Anatase and Rutile. As a result, it was confirmed that the higher the calcination temperature, the lower the band gap of TiO<sub>2</sub>. We show this TiO<sub>2</sub> have a potential to be break the organic pollutant down.
Enhanced Photolysis Effect of Titanium Dioxide Mixture with Rice Husk Silica

Titanium dioxide (TiO<sub>2</sub>) has many properties such as chemical stability and high catalytic activity. TiO<sub>2 </sub>is used as a photocatalyst, DSSC, semi-conductor. Moreover, Rice husk silica (RH-SiO<sub>2</sub>) nanoparticle can be synthesized from rice husk obtained after rice threshing, which is economical compared and eco-friendly with the conventional method using silica precursor. This study is focused on have better photolysis performance by the mixture of TiO<sub>2</sub> and RH-SiO<sub>2</sub> (TiO<sub>2</sub>/RH-SiO<sub>2</sub>) with its high surface area and photocatalytic activity. TiO<sub>2</sub> commonly have three type of crystallinity such as anatase, rutile, and brookite, which these phase make an impact on the photocatalytic effect. Among the TiO<sub>2</sub> samples calcined at respective temperature, T200 was higher photolysis performance. TiO<sub>2</sub> and TiO<sub>2</sub>/RH-SiO<sub>2</sub> were sprayed onto the paper stained with methyl orange and irradiated with UV light. As a result, TiO<sub>2</sub>/RH-SiO<sub>2</sub> was observed higher performance in photolysis effect comparing with T200.

Titanium Dioxide (TiO<sub>2</sub>) is mainly used as a photocatalyst, because of it have high catalytic activity and chemical stability. Conventional TiO<sub>2</sub> absorbs light in the ultraviolet region, but TiO<sub>2</sub> made in hydrogen atmosphere becomes black when it absorbs light in the visible region. Black TiO<sub>2</sub> generally has a band gap of 2.54 eV and absorbs light in the visible region, indicating enhanced photocatalytic activity. In addition, rice husk silica (RH-SiO<sub>2</sub>) nanoparticles are able to synthesize from rice husk obtained after threshing of rice, which is economical and eco-friendly in comparison with conventional method using silica precursors. This study focuses on the comparison of photolysis performance of pure anatase TiO<sub>2</sub>, P25, Black anatase TiO<sub>2</sub> and TiO<sub>2</sub>/RH-SiO<sub>2</sub> composites. The photolysis performance of each sample was observed through the decomposition of methylene blue. As a result, among the samples, pure anatase TiO<sub>2</sub> and P25 indicated similar and highest photolysis performance.

Polydiacetylene (PDA) has been studied as a self-assembly material that is able to confirm the results by visual inspection in response to specific conditions using its colorimetric characteristics, which is caused by a conjugated backbone of alternating double and triple bonds in Diacetylene (DA). We, in this study, focused on modification of PDA vesicles with crown-6-ether having the property to capture Pb2+ ion that particularly affects children’s physical growth. Furthermore, for the effective absorption of the heavy metal, the nanoporous silica (SiO2) was synthesized by leaching and calcination step though silica powder extracted from rice husk. Economic and environmental friendly characteristics was obtained at the same time, comparing with conventional experimental which is used expensive silanol precursor. Consequently we developed composites of PDA-SiO<sub>2</sub> to apply colorimetric detector for Pb2+ ion by the naked eye.

The material for local healing in medical field need to satisfy the properties such as biodegradation and biocompatibility. Therefore we chose Polycaprolactone (PCL) to apply as the medical polymer and especially target for human bones because the hydroxyapatite (HA) is generated from the PCL after decomposition itself which the substance has a similar component composed of human bone. In this study, we focused on biodegradation rate over time of PCL nanofiber containing silica nanoparticle produced from rice husk though using electron spinning (E-spinning), based on the data of previous experimental. Then the degree of degradation over time was verified by a quantity of HA.

As a popular catalyst, TiO<sub>2</sub> is an attractive one because it is inexpensive, easily available, high oxidation-reduction performance and nontoxic. This study synthesized metal-doped (V, Fe and Ni) TiO<sub>2</sub> beads by sol-gel method with hydrothermal treatment. Hydrotermal method is proper to the growth of high-quality crystals for preserving control over their composition. Octadecylamine (ODA) is a structure-directing agent affecting the morphology and monodispersity control in the sol-gel synthesis. The photocatalytic activity was confirmed with the degree of methylene blue degradation. V-doped titania beads had higher photocatalytic effect than the other samples. The XRD and SEM characterized the crystallinity and morphology of the metal-doped TiO<sub>2</sub> nanobeads. We could confirm the surface area, pore volume and pore size of TiO<sub>2</sub> nanobeads by BET analysis.

Nanomaterials have used for various field of industry with high reacting surface area caused from their nano-size, which is able to reach the similar effect goal with the less amount of usage than the conventional use. With this property, using the nano-sized material has a product produce an economical advantage. Dispersity, however, of nanomaterial in the compound without surfactant is a difficult task because Van der Waals existing and electrostatic repulsion action on the surface are interfered to form monodisperse. We proposed synthesis nano zinc oxide dispersed in nanoporous silica produced from rice husk under surfactant-free condition. Silica particle having high absorption property by the high specific surface area was extracted from rice husk ash then synthesized via sol-gel process. Nano zinc oxide was grown from its precursor at the inside of rice husk silica gel to disperse effectively.
