Tuberculous Empyema Necessitatis with Osteomyelitis, a Rare Case in the 21<sup>st</sup> Century

흉벽 천공성 농흉(Empyema necessitatis)은 농흉이 흉막 외의 공간으로 확장되어 나간 것을 말한다. 결핵성 흉벽 천공성 농흉은 결핵의 드문 합병증으로서 특히 소아에서는 더욱 드물다. 본 저자들은 결핵에 노출된 병력이 없던 21개월 남자아이에서 7번째 늑골의 골수염에 동반된 결핵성 흉벽천공성 농흉을 경험하여 이에 대해 보고한다. 우리는 환자의 진단과 치료를 위해 수술적 치료를 시행하였고, 조직을 이용한 PCR 및 분자생물학적 검사에서 M. tuberculosis complex를 확인하여 항결핵제를 이용해 합병증 없이 치료하였다. Empyema necessitatis refers to empyema that extends into the extrapleural space through a defect in the pleural surface. Tuberculous empyema necessitatis is a rare complication of tuberculosis. We experienced a 21-month-old boy with tuberculous empyema necessitatis with osteomyelitis in the right $7^{th}$ rib. He presented with a mass on the right lateral chest wall, which was soft and nontender, enlarging for one month. He also had mild fever. The plain radiograph of his chest revealed soft tissue swelling and calcified lymph node on the left axilla, and his PPD skin test was positive. CT scan of the chest showed empyema necessitatis at the right lower chest and upper abdominal walls with osteomyelitis of the right $7^{th}$ rib. He did not have concurrent pulmonary tuberculosis. Surgery was performed for diagnosis and treatment. In histopathologic findings, chronic granulomatous inflammation with caseation necrosis was shown and was positive for acid fast bacilli stain. In addition, M. tuberculosis complex was found as etiology by polymerase chain reaction. The patient has been treated with anti-tuberculous medication without any specific complication.
리보플라빈이 함유된 키토산 마스크팩의 제조 및 특성에 관한 연구

This study was to investigate a preparation and characteristics of a peel-off type mask pack with chitosan, which is biocompatible biopolymer, as a model cosmetic delivery system. Chitosan microbeads having riboflavin for cosmetic delivery system have been obtained using capillary extrusion method. Intermolecular hydrogen bonding bands between ,chitosan molecule and riboflavin were observed at 3,429 cm-1 and 1,088 cm-1 in FT-IR spectrum. The band shifts may be assigned to a strong interaction due to intermolecular hydrogen bond between two molecules. The prototype formulation of peel-off type mask pack was also prepared by conventional method.The parameters to evaluate cosmetic effects consisted of skin hydration, pH, skin sebum, erythema index, TEWL, L*a*b* values. It was concluded that chitosan microbeads containing of riboflavin considered as a good candidate for the preparation of a functional peel-off type mask pack. The releasing property of riboflavin from chitosan microbeads is not clearly studied and requires further investigation.
알로에(aloe vera L.) 生長點培養에 있어 生長調節物質 및 培地가 植物體分化와 生長에 미치는 影響

This study was conducted to investigate the optimum medium and levels of growth regulators for multiple shoot induction as a rapid micropropagation system from meristem culture of Aloe vera L. in vitro. MS medium supplemented with 3㎎/ℓ BA was effective for shoot regeneration and addition of 0.1μM TDZ increased the number of shoots but retarded the growth of shoot. More shoots were regenerated when 2㎎/ℓ BA combined with 0.1㎎/ℓ IAA than when only cytokinin were added onto the medium. MS medium containing IAA and NAA was effective for rooting compared with medium containing no growth regulators. When regenerated plantlets were transplanted on pot, the survival rate of plants was 75% on perlite and 95% on vermiculite, respectively.
Acifluorfen 抵抗性 토마토(lycopersicon peruvianum mill) 細胞株 選拔 및 植物體 分化

Fifteen acifluorfen-tolerant cell lines of Lycopersicon peruvianum were isolated by stepwise selection in suspension cultured cells. Growth of unselected line was completely inhibited at 0.5μM, while selectd callus lines grew at 8μM acifluorfen. After subculturing on acifluorfen-free medium for 5 passage(over 4 months), eleven cell lines tested maintained their tolerance to 0.5μM acifluorfen. The regeneration capacity of acifluorfen-tolerant cell lines differed depending on the cell line. Seven of 14 cell lines regenerated the shoot and six cell lines did not. Selected cell lines were more effective than the unselected control callus in regenerating on medium containing acifluorfen. The unselected callus of L. peruvianum did not regenerate shoots on medium containing over 1μM acifluorfen, but selected lines regenerated shoots on medium with 5μM acifluorfen. The addition of 10㎎/L spermidine to the medium improved the regeneration rate and the growth of acifluorfen-tolerant lines.
