The palatine tonsils(tonsils) and pharyngeal tonsils(adenoids) are situated at the entrance of the respiratory and alimentary tracts and represent the first site of contact with a variety of microorganisms and other antigens present in food and inhaled air. They are known as lymphoid organs carrying out the function of cellular and humoral immunity, and so they form a local protective barrier. And the expression of the vascular endothelial adhesion molecules is known to play an important role for the inflammatory reaction in tonsils and adenoids as well as in other inflammatory tissues, by binding with the receptors on the surface of leukocytes. But although several scientific hypotheses on the role of these lympoid tissues have been suggested, their complete functions have remained unknown. The purpose of this study is to present an basic data of the knowledge on the immunologic physiology of the tonsils and adenoids and their role as active immunologic organs that reinforce the mucosal immunity of the entire upper aerodigestive tract. We examined 16 human tonsils and adenoids and the expression of three endothelial adhesion molecules, vascular endothelial adhesion molecule-1(VCAM-1), intracellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1), and E-selection, in tissue sections using immunohistochemistry. We used the inferior turbinate mucosa obtained from 9 patients getting septal surgery as a control group. The expressions of vascular endothelial adhesion molecule-1(VCAM-1) and intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) were significantly higher in the tonsils and adenoids. But respectively, there were no significant differences between the tonsils and adenoids. The expression of E-selection was significant higher in the tonsils, but not in the adenoids. We observed that tonsils and adenoids showed significantly higher expressions of vascular endothelial adhesion molecule-1(VCAM-1), intracellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1), and E-selection (in the case of E-selection, only in the tonsils). We propose that these adhesion molecules play an important role for the immunologic reaction by the transendothelial migration of lymphocytes and binding with the receptors on the surface of leukocytes.

영화산업, 팬과 만나다

With the rise of Web 2.0, the film industry strives to maintain a heightened connection to online fan communities. The purpose is to maximize a profit by utilizing fan's participation. Directors and producers provide a specific information about what they are creating to fan communities, and they ask for fan communities's opinions about a scenario or a cast. In this way, they detect a cultural taste of consumers. Moreover, they seduce fans to promote their products. The industrial strategy I have mentioned generates a need to re-conceptualize the meaning of fan's participation. It is true that fan is participatory. As an individual or as a member of specific fan community, fan likes to speak about their favorite stars and moves. They promote what they cherish to others. Moreover, they organize a collective movement in order to support what they adore. The issue, however, is that the film industry functions as an infrastructure for fan's participation. By focusing on D-War (2007), this essay attempts to analyze the very phenomenon of fan's participation. It is tue that the director and the studio play a great role for the fan community to participate. I will analyze the industrial strategy. However, this does not mean that fan is simply seduced by the industry. They desire to participate both in the production and marketing of films from various reasons. Thus, I want to analyze the psychological mechanism fans want to participate in detail, as well.

BALT(bronchial associated lymphoid tissue) lymphomas are a distinct subgroup of low-grade B-cell extranodal non-Hodgkin`s lymphoma, which are classified as a marginal-zone lymphomas. The majority of the patients are asymptomatic or their pulmonary lesions is often discovered incidentally on a routine chest radiograph. A 50-year-old man was admitted for an the evaluation of cough, dyspnea and fever. His chest CT showed ground glass appearance with interlobular septal thickening in both lower lobes, right middle lobe and left lingular division. He had been initially diagnosed with lipoid pneumonia and was kept under observation. However, his chest lesion showed continuous progression and a video-associated thoracoscopy was performed His pulmonary lesion was confirmed histologically to be a BALT(bronchial associated lymphoid tissue) lymphoma. We report a case of a BALT lymphoma, which was initially misdiagnosed as lipoid pneumonia. (Tuberc Respir Dis 2007; 63: 194-199)

한국영화, 이주여성을 들여다보다

이 논문은 지난 2000년대 이후 한국의 대중영화들이 이주여성들을 재현하는 양상을 분석하고 있다. <파이란>(2001)은 위장 결혼을 통해 한국에 이주하게 된 중국 여성을 등장시켰으며 <나의 결혼 원정기>(2005)는 한국 남성들과 우즈베키스탄 여성들 간의 맞선에 초점을 맞추었다. 이후 5년간의 침묵을 깨고 제작된 <방가?방가!>(2010)와 <완득이>(2011)는 베트남이나 필리핀 출신의 여성들과 그들의 직장동료나 이웃들, 그리고 자녀들을 등장시킴으로써 이주여성들이 가정이나 일터에 정착하면서 당면하게 되는 갈등이나 차별 등의 문제들을 다루고 있다. 이렇듯이 이주여성들을 비교적 비중 있게 다루고 있는 4편의 대중 영화들을 중심으로, 한국 영화들이 과연 이주여성들이 살아가고 있는 모습에 대해서 어떠한 방식으로 그리고 얼마나 효과적으로 사유하고 성찰할 수 있는 기회를 불러일으키고 있는지에 대해서 초점을 맞추어서 분석하고자 한다. 다양한 국적을 가진 이주여성들이 유입하면서 국내에 체류하는 여성 인구들의 인종적, 민족적인 지형도는 급속도로 다변화되기 시작하였지만 이들 중 상당수의 여성들은 공단이나 농어촌에 귀속되어 있다기에 대도시에 거주하는 한국인들이 타국으로부터 이주해온 여성들과 접촉할 기회를 갖기란 쉽지 않다. 따라서 이들이 어떠한 동기나 배경을 가지고 있고 어떠한 경로를 통해서 이주하게 되었고 어떠한 경험을 하고 어떠한 문제점이나 열망을 안고 살아가고 있는지를 인지할 수 있는 기회라고 한다면 대중매체를 통한 간접적인 경험이 대다수일 것이다. 지금까지 이주여성의 삶을 비교적 비중 있게 다루고 있는 대중 영화들이 단지 몇 편에 불과한 만큼 이들 영화는 이주여성으로 범주화하는 집단을 특정한 방식으로 인식하고 구성할 수 있는 데에 상당히 큰 영향력을 행사할 수도 있을 것이다. 따라서 이 논문은 이들 영화들을 면밀히 살펴봄으로써 과연 어떠한 산업적인 조건이나 사회문화적인 이유에 의해 어떠한 방식으로 이주여성을 재현하고 있는지를 구체적으로 살펴보고자 한다. 그 뿐만이 아니라 재현 양상을 통시적으로 고찰하고자 한다. 즉 과거에 비해서 과연 오늘날에는 이주여성의 재현에 있어서 어떠한 균열이나 변화가 발생하고 있는지를 비교 분석해 봄으로써 만약 재현 양상에 변화가 있다면 그 변화의 추이를 추적할 뿐 아니라 이러한 변화를 이끈 주된 원인을 상세하게 규명하고자 하는 것이다. Feminized migration refers to the phenomena that migrated women outnumber migrated men. Korea has witnessed the rise of the number of migrated women as many foreign women married Korean men and moved into Korea. Of course this phenomena has been captured in some Korean films. From 2000 to 2011, Korean film industry has produced 4 movies that dealt with the lives of migrated women. Interestingly enough, these women came from other Asian countries, meaning Vietnam, Philippine and China. Besides, the way these films represent their distinctive traits are somewhat stereotypical. This essay brings into focus the way Korean film industry represent migrated women for 10years. While analyzing a prejudice based upon race, ethnicity and class in the way Korean film makers represent Asian women, this essay also highlights a small but significant change in the way migrated characters have been characterized. By doing so, I want to deliver a more lively and sophisticated analysis of the logic of culture industry that absorbs an alternative movement into an attractive commodity.

리코더의 현대주법과 교육적 측면의 활용

리코더는 우리 주변에서 가장 쉽게 접할 수 있으면서도 그 예술성에 대해서는 막상 잘 못 인식된 면이 있다. 르네상스와 바로크 시대에 리코더가 어떤 위치였는지, 클래식과 낭만시대에 사람들로부터 외면 받게 된 이유와 또한 20세기에 다시 세상에 나와 예술성과 동시에 교육적 악기로서의 지위와 가능성에 대해 규명한다. 20세기의 아방가르드 음악은 리코더의 중요한 레퍼토리로 자리 잡게 되는데 그 배경과 리코더의 아방가르드 주법을 작품들의 예를 들어가며 제시한다. 1970년대 이후에 홍수처럼 쏟아져 나오는 아방가르드 음악의 한계성에 대해서도 연구한다. Although a recorder is the most common musical instrument around us, its artistry often passes unnoticed. The purpose of this study is to examine a recorder's place in the Renaissance and Baroque period and the reason it was neglected by people in the Romanticism and Classicism period. In addition, this study is to examine its position and possibility as an educational instrument as well as its artistic value in the 20th century. This study is to present how Avant-garde music of the 20th century has taken its place as major repertoire of a recorder, and the avant-garde execution of a recorder, taking examples of its works. It is also to study the limitation of a flood of avant-garde music in the 1970s.

아동 성학대 예방 교육이 보육교사의 아동 성학대에 대한 태도에 미치는 효과

This study aims to analyze the necessity and current status of the child sexual abuse prevention training conducted for early childhood teachers, and verifies the effect of the training after its completion, thereby seeking measures to instill knowledge and help early childhood teachers who are in charge of child sexual abuse prevention within an early-childhood education environment. Firstly, early childhood teachers were aware of the need for teacher training to prevent child sexual abuse and 60% responded that it was absolutely necessary, while 76.7% replied they had never actually received training. Among 25 institutions involved with the prevention of child sexual abuse, 15 institutions said that they provided teacher training for prevention of child sexual abuse while 10 institutions said they did not, indicating a greater percentage for provision. Secondly, 80% of the respondents said child sexual abuse prevention training was provided to pre-school teachers in the day-care facility, and 70.8% replied that the training was conducted by a teacher within the day-care center. Thirdly, The positive change in the attitude towards child abuse indicates that child sexual abuse prevention training does indeed affect attitude change in understanding the concept of child sexual abuse and its occurring environment. The question on incidences and severity of child sexual abuse showed a significant change between before and after training, especially for severity, indicating the great effect child sexual abuse training has on the early childhood teachers` attitude.

자동차 기능 안전성 표준 ISO 26262 기반 개발방법론 연구

Nowadays road vehicles have 70~100 ECUs and the complexity are getting higher and higher to provide more safe and convenient services. This growing complexity makes the traditional development methods used no longer sufficient to validate the safety of vehicles. It is generally accepted that a new safety argument needs to show that the system is safe for its intended application. To cope with this issue, the ISO 26262 is under development by ISO TC22/SC3/WG16, which is planned to be released by June 2011. It emphasis on comprehensive safety management and documentation of the safety arguments with its supporting evidence during the whole lifecycle of vehicle in addition to hazard analysis, risk assessment, This paper introduces an automotive development methodology, FOAM (Functional safety Oriented Automotive development Methodology), which fulfils the ISO 26262 developed by ETRI.

이종 무선 네트워크 환경에서의 향상된 핸드오버 알고리즘

본 연구는 이종 무선 네트워크에서 발생하는 핸드오버 부하를 개선하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 핸드오버는 단말기의 위치가 네트워크의 구성 단위인 셀을 옮겨갈 때 발생한다. 이 위치 업데이트 비용은 매우 크다. 효과적인 위치 업데이트를 위해서 idle 상태에서는 단말기가 셀 선택 알고리즘에 의해서 셀을 결정한 뒤, 핸드오버 여부를 보고한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 방식은 셀 내부에 가상의 버퍼 영역을 두어 버퍼 영역 안쪽의 핸드오버를 제한하고, 버퍼 영역 바깥쪽의 핸드오버는 기존 방식을 이용하는 것이다. 실험은 네트워크 시뮬레이터 NS-3에서 수행되었고, 그 결과 제안된 알고리즘이 핸드오버 횟수를 프로필 기반 네트워크 선택 프레임워크(Profile-based Network Selection Framework, PNSF)알고리즘 대비 약 7% 감소시켰으며, 위치 정보의 정확성은 PNSF와 동등한 성능을 보여 위치 기반 서비스의 질 향상에 기여함을 확인할 수 있었다.

WWW 환경을 위한 멀티미디어 전자 우편 시스템의 구현

현재의 Web Browser는 단순히 HTML 문서를 다루는 기능만 가지고 있어서 메일 작성자가 추가적인 멀티미디어 정보를 결합한 메일을 보낼 수가 없으며 더우기 기존의 메일 시스템인 MailManager나 Pine등은 Web Browsing 기능을 제공하기 않으므로 실질적으로 HTML 문서와 멀티미디어 정보를 실질적으로 통합하여 전송하는 메일시스템은 아직 없다고 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 관점에서 HTML 문서와 멀티미디어 정보를 함께 결합한 형태로 메일을 작성하고 프리젠테이션할 수 있는 통합적인 메일시스템을 구현하였다. The current Web Browsers can deal with only HTML documents, as a result, they do not support multimedia mail. Furthermore, existing multimedia e-mail systems, including MailManager and Pine do not offer web browsing capability. So. actually there does not so far exist an integrated mail system supporting not only HTML documents but also multimedia information. This paper describes our work for implementation of an integrated mail system to challenge this open problem.

조선족 여성에 대한 한국 상업영화의 민속지적 상상

이 논문은 <댄서의 순정>, <웨딩 스캔들>, <미씽: 사라진 여자>, <악녀> 등의 네 작품들에 대한 논의를 통해서 한국 영화산업이 조선족 여성들을 재현하는 양상을 분석함으로써 민속지로서의 역할을 논의하고 있다. 대표적 이주 집단이라고 할 수 있는 조선족 여성들은 물리적인 힘에 저항하거나 사회적인 압력에 대항할 능력이 없는 약자로 등장한다. 연민의 대상인 조선족 여성들은 이러한 멜로드라마틱한 설정에서 출발하여 위기에 빠진 그녀들을 구출해낸 남성과 사랑하게 되면서 ‘구출 서사’를 통해 사랑의 대상으로 전환된다. 한편 동정의 대상인 조선족 여성들은 온갖 핍박과 차별의 연속으로 인해서 극단적인 상황에 처하게 되며 마침내는 가해자들에게 복수를 꾀한다는 ‘복수의 서사’를 통해서 범법자로 전환되기도 한다. 충무로 버전 조선족 여성들은 관객들로 하여금 소위 ‘조선족 여성’이라 지칭되는 사람들을 상상할 수 있을 단초를 제공해준다. 조선족 여성들을 친구로 둔다거나 이웃으로 가까이 접해본다거나 디아스포라로서 조선족의 생활상이나 역사에 대한 구체적 지식이 없는 한국인들의 상당수는 영화를 통해서 ‘조선족 여성’이라는 존재와 만나게 되는 것이다. 그 뿐 아니라 그녀를 통해서 ‘조선족 사회’를 엿볼 수 있게 되는 것이다. 대중적인 민속지로서 조선족 여성들을 등장시킨 영화들은 단순히 조선족 여성이라는 정체성과 조선족 사회라고 하는 커뮤니티를 창조해낸다는 것이 아니라 이들이 한국인 여성이나 한국인 사회와 본질적으로 다르다는 점을 강조함으로써 현재 한국사회에서 진행되고 있는 내부적 오리엔탈리즘을 재확인시켜주고 있다. 세계화라는 큰 흐름 속에서 한국 사회도 점차 다문화, 다인종 사회로 변모되어 가면서 새롭게 유입된 이주민들과의 접촉은 늘어나고 있지만 한국인들은 이주 민들의 피부색이나 출신국가에 입각해서 개개인의 행동양식이나 문화수준을 상상하고 이를 기준으로 이주민 집단을 차등하고 있다. 네 작품들을 통해 ‘순수’, ‘자연’, ‘야성’ 과 ‘미개발’ 등을 표상하며 향수를 자극하는 한편 야만적인 ‘동양 속의 동양여성’과 ‘동양속의 동양 사회’는 이들과는 태생적으로 상이한 한국의 헤게모니를 강화시키고 있는 것이다. This article aims to analyze the way Korean-Chinese female characters have been represented in South Korean popular films. Ever since the mid 2000s, Korean film industry has produced four films in which Korean-Chinese women play central roles. Dancing Princess(2005), Wedding Scandal(2012), Missing(2016) and the most recently The Villainess(2017) introduce heroines as ‘innocent’ and ‘sympathetic’ characters who are destined to face patriarchical oppression, sexual abuse and ethnic discrimination. Depending on genre conventions, these sympathetic women become either lovely bride or ruthless criminals. Korean-Chinese female characters depicted in these films intensify domestic Orientalism perpetuating in South Korean society. Orientalism is the byproduct of Eurocentrism which first emerged as a discursive rational for colonialism. As an ideological substratum common to colonialist, imperialist and racist discourse, Orientalism permeates contemporary practices and representations even after the formal end of colonialism. The contemporary South Korean society must be one of the places where quite intense level of Eurocentric Orientalism can be observed. Koreans demonstrate binary attitude toward the so-called ‘Western’ settlers and the ‘Non-Western’ settlers. By analyzing the way Korean-Chinese women featured in these films reaffirm South Koreans’ Eurocentric Orientalism, this paper criticizes their socio-political function.
