The objective of this study is to analyze the applicability of the Radiant Floor Cooling integrated with dehumidification system through field experiments. The experiments are performed to evaluate the thermal environments and system operations according to varying the load conditions which is able to happen to field and show the available cooling source for radiant cooling system. The results of this study are as follows. 1) The radian floor cooling integrated with dehumidification system shows stable thermal environments and system operations in view of these aspects : control offset room air temperature, preventing condensation, stayed within the comfort range. 2) A supplementary cooling device can reduce the cooling time at the beginning because it can utilize radiant and convective cooling method. 3) The result of analyzing the change of the cooling water temperature in the actual apartment building shows that the system can operate according to the planning value.

The objective of this study is to show the system Integrations and control method for operation of the Radiant Floor Cooling. The systems for radiant floor cooling system consist of only using the radiant floor cooling and the radiant floor cooling integrated with a dehumidification system. And the study is suggested control method with composed radiant floor cooling system through simulations. Radiant floor cooling systems compose of four main parts: an existing radiant heating panel, manifold, cooling source and controller, and sensors. If dehumidifying or supplementary cooling is needed, additional equipments such as PAC and AHU are needed. Simulation results show that control method only using radiant floor cooling system can prevent condensation and set room air temperature with the exception of hot and humid periods and control method using the radiant floor cooling integrated with a dehumidification system is comfort thermal environments and can reduce the cooling load quickly, moreover, show comfort control method to meet various cooling operation situations.

The objective of this study is to analyze the performance evaluation of the Radiant Floor Cooling and the dehumidification system included in the integrated system may be utilized as a supplementary cooling device through field experiments. The experiments are performed to evaluate the performance of the radiant floor cooling and confirm the possibility of continuous cooling through the actual field experiments, moreover, analyze specific characters of the radiant floor cooling system according to varying the load conditions which is able to happen to field. Experiment results show that the permissible ambient temperature range was determined by cooling load calculations, and the cooling capacity was calculated from steady-state heat transfer equations. Under these conditions, experiments were performed for an actual apartment building assuming two occupants. During 80% of the cooling period, radiant floor cooling provides sufficient and continuous cooling. The results of analyzing the indoor thermal environment in the actual apartment building show that the set room air temperature is maintained while the floor surface temperature, vertical temperature distribution and PMV remain within the comfort range.

The minimum airflow of VAV terminal boxes is a key factor for comfort, indoor air quality(IAQ) and energy cost. If the minimum airflow is not resonable, it would waste energy and make IAQ problems. There are two types of VAV terminal box control logic. One is the single maximum, another is the dual maximum control logic. Dual maximum control logic is more efficiency way to reduce the energy consumption. It has a minimum airflow set point and a heating maximum set point. It allows the minimum airflow set point to be much lower than single maximum control logic. A building simulation was conducted to evaluate the energy consumption and the IAQ according to the control logic of the VAV terminal box. In the simulation, dual maximum control logic can save the energy up to 6.5% compared to the single maximum controllogic.

In this study, the operation strategy of the radiant floor cooling is evaluated in terms of indoor environmental conditions and energy consumption through simulations using the TRNSYS comparing the existing cooling operation. The operation strategy during continuously operated for cooling is proposed that a representative room had additional equipments and other rooms were operated with only a radiant floor cooling system and that system and control method for cooling are varied with period while intermittently operated for cooling. Specifically, when there are no people in the room, rooms were operated by only radiant floor cooling system using cooling storage and when people are occupied, rooms were operated by dehumidification and supplementary cooling device with radiant floor cooling system. The results of this study show that proposed operation strategy can stably maintain the set room air temperature and can reduce the energy consumption compared to the existing cooling method during continuously operated for cooling. While intermittently operated for cooling, the difference of set room air temperature by proposed operation strategy does not happen, satisfying comfort standards and the radiant floor cooling can expect to supply stable electric power because of decreasing demand for peak electric power of energy consumption.

This paper conducted energy conservation feasibility measurement of the HVAC systems for the supermarket store to evaluate the building"s energy performance and identify potential cost-effective energy saving opportunities. The air temperature for one roof top unit(RTUs) and one makeup air unit(MAUs) was also trended and the control sequences and parameters were collected from the control contractor. The results of building energy performance measurement show that the supermarket can improve the building energy performance by recommendations: 1) Calibrate and adjust the minimum outside damper position to avoid the infiltration and generate a lower space humidity level. 2) Add a variable frequency driver(VFD) on the supply fan of the two bigger units (RTU-1and 2), and 3) Fine tune three makeup units to avoid the gas heater enabled when the space is still under cooling modes.

In this study, the operation strategy of the radiant floor cooling at continuous cooling operation is evaluated in terms of indoor environmental conditions through simulations using the TRNSYS. North faced rooms with low cooling load condition were operated by only radiant floor cooling system by cooling storage effect and rooms were operated by dehumidification and supplementary cooling device with radiant floor cooling system if there is high cooling load for representative room like living room. An indoor thermal environment analysis showed that radiant floor cooling systems can maintain a set room temperature with the exception of hot and humid periods. In this case, fixed internal cooling load by heat gain during continuously operated for cooling. It was also found that the north room cool within the comfort range during the whole cooling period since the room does not heat up as much as other rooms.
