        The influence of environmental temperature on the acid base balance of frog(Rana Temporaria Chosenica) blood was investigated at 25℃ all the year round. pH of blood was measured by means of Artrup method and Sigaard- Anderson's nomogram using pH meter(Corning) and tonometer. Buffer value, actual bicarbonate concentration and OH^-/H^+ ratio were calculatedd by the measure buffer line, pH and CO2 gas tension which was used(low CO_2 was 4-5% and high C0_2 was 8-9% balanced with 0_2). Results obtained are as follows: 1. Buffer line was shift to the upper and-right side during winter season and the differences was statistically significant. 2. Buffer value was higher during winter season than summer value and the difference was significan (p<0.001). 3. The actual blood pH was 7.42±0.01 in September and 7.78±0.03 in January. Generally the pH was higher during winter season than that of summer. The difference between two seasons was statistically significant(p<0.05). 4. The blood PCO_2 value has a seasonal changes with low PC0_2 during winter season and the differences were statistically significant. 5. The plasma bicarbonate concentration was 17.00±1.07mM/L in September and the value were decreased with cold weather of 12.33±1.29mM/L in January. Seasonal changes were significantly different(p<0.05). It is concluded from this findings that the acid-base changes of blood in frog were related to the temperature of living habitat and the corresponding changes in the tissue energy store and buffers.

        코골이의 임상적 의의

        Snoring is the most common symptom, along with increased daytime sleepiness, in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). However, doctors often neglect snoring in clinical practice, and snoring is not addressed in the treatment guidelines of OSA. Therefore, study about snoring and its clinical implications in sleep medicine are needed. The natural history of snoring shows that snoring can evolve into OSA, and the most important risk factors for this continuum are obesity and male sex. Snoring can be a social problem causing annoyance and family difficulties. Animal and human studies have shown that snoring involves the four injury mechanisms of upper airway inflammation, peripheral neuropathy, parasympathetic hypofunction, and endothelial injury. Previous studies have reported that systemic diseases such as atherosclerosis, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, and cardiac diseases were comorbid with snoring. However, most of these studies enrolled patients characterized by survey or questionnaire; therefore, data were biased with effects of OSA. Thus, consensus on the definition and detection of snoring is lacking. Additional studies are required to determine the exact clinical implications of snoring.

        구개수구개인두성형술에 있어서 최소 침습 수술기법:구개설선

        Background and Objectives:Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty remains the most comon surgical procedure performed as a limitations:a relatively low success rate, possible complications and the lack of a consensus on the palatal resection margin. In this study, we present a modified surgical technique and its clinical experiences. Subjects and Method:Twelve patients with snoring and obstructive slep apnea/hypopnea were included in this study betwen September 2004 and April 2005. We divided the patients into two groups according to the resection margin of the uvula. And we defined the palatal incision margin as a Results:Abnormal breathing cesation (apnea/hypopnea) during sleep disappeared in all patients. There was no residual snoring in 10 patients (83.3%) but 2 patients (16.7%) complained of some residual snoring. The group with les than half resection of the uvula during surgery had a neouvula formed and could maintain a naturally shaped velopharynx. These patients had low incidence of postoperative complications such as severe scar for-Conclusion:We recommend the palatoglosal line as an ideal incision margin for the uvulopala-topharyngoplasty and the preservation of the neouvula.         Orbital Apex Syndrome in a Patient with Sphenoid Fungal Balls

        Orbital apex syndrome (OAS) is a rare disease that presents with a complex of symptoms, including ophthalmoplegia, ptosis and visual loss. Due to the poor prognosis, making a prompt diagnosis and administering the appropriate treatment must be initiated without delay if OAS is suspected. We report here on a case of a patient with sphenoid fungal balls, and he presented with acute visual loss and ophthalmoplegia.         OTT 서비스의 VOD와 실시간 방송 이용 의도 분석

        본 연구는 기대가치이론을 기반으로 OTT 서비스의 이용행태 및 의도를 분석하고자 했다. OTT 서비스를 하루 평균 30분 이상 이용하는 400명을 대상으로 하여 기대가치이론의 주요변인인 추구충족 및 획득충족의 요인을 연구하였다. 추구충족 요인으로는 메뉴 및 품질 우수성, 시청능동성, 기기다양성 등 3개 요인이 확인되었으며, 획득충족 요인으로는 편재성 및 기기다양성, 메뉴우수성, 품질우수성, 시청능동성 등 4개 요인이 확인되었다. 또한 VOD와 실시간 주 이용자를 분석한 결과, VOD 주 이용자는 편재성 및 기기다양성과 시청능동성이 VOD 이용의도에 영향을 미쳤으며, 편재성 및 기기다양성이 실시간 이용의도에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 변인으로 나타났다. 실시간 주 이용자는 편재성 및 기기다양성과 품질우수성이 실시간 및 VOD 이용의도에 모두 직접적으로 영향을 미치는 변인으로 나타났다. 한편, 실시간 주 이용자에게 메뉴우수성은 성별과 연령에 의해 조절되어 실시간 이용의도에 영향을 미쳤고, 실시간 주 이용자의 VOD 이용의도에는 연령에 의해 조절되어 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. This study analyzed users’ usage and intention to use OTT service based on the Expectancy Value Theory. 400 participants using OTT services over half an hour per day on average responded to questions regarding gratification sought and gratification obtained as the main factors of the Expectancy Value Theory. Results showed that gratification sought involves menu and quality excellence, watching activeness, and device diversity, and gratification obtained is a function of ubiquity and device diversity, menu excellence, quality excellence, and watching activeness. According to the gratification obtained by main VOD users, ubiquity, device diversity and watching activeness directly influenced the participants’ intention to use VOD, while ubiquity and device diversity had a direct effect on their intention to use real-time broadcasting. According to the gratification obtained by main real-time users, their intentions to use real-time and VOD OTT service both depended on the ubiquity and device diversity, and quality excellence. The influence of menu excellence on main real-time users’ intentions for real-time use was mediated by users’ gender and age, while its effect on users’ intentions for VOD was mediated by age

        알레르기 비염 마우스 모델

        Allergic rhinitis is the most common atopic disease in the world. However, pathogenic mechanisms of allergic rhinitis have not been fully understood. Mouse models of allergic rhinitis are a great tool that allows in vivo studies to be conducted in the state of an intact immune and respiratory system. This model system can provide many chances to find important signaling pathways and therapeutic target molecules in allergic rhinitis. To start research in allergic rhinitis with mouse, we have to make good and reliable models. Current mouse model is not perfect with many confounding variables and has some limitations to translate findings to the clinic directly. Optimal mouse model mimicking human allergic rhinitis will promise to unravel new horizon in the field of allergic rhinitis.

        HACCP 인증 축산물 판매장의 제조 환경 및 식육의미생물 관리수준에 관한 연구

        The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP) system application on microbial hazard management levels of pork and manufacturing environments. In this study, we compared and analyzed microbial levels in raw meat, finished products, and manufacturing environments (knifes, gloves, and cutting boards) of HACCP and non-HACCP meat markets. In addition, we surveyed the hygiene statuses of HACCP and non-HACCP meat markets. The general bacterial counts in raw meat, finished products, and manufacturing environments were lower in HACCP meat markets than in non-HACCP meat markets. Particularly, non-HACCP meat markets exceeded the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety microbiological recommendation criteria for raw meats (8.7%) and finished products (8.7%). Escherichia coli and coliform counts in raw meat, finished products, and manufacturing environments were also lower in HACCP meat markets than in non-HACCP meat markets. The biological hazard levels of finished products from non-HACCP meat markets were affected by raw meat and manufacturing environment. Moreover, according to questionnaire survey results, personal hygiene, manufacturing environment, and facility standards were lower in non-HACCP meat markets than in HACCP meat markets. Implementation of HACCP at meat markets is expected to minimize food poisoning by reducing the biological hazard levels to provide safe livestock products to consumers.
