Photocatalytic Decomposition of Gaseous Acetaldehyde by Metal Loaded TiO2 with Ozonation

The decomposition of gaseous CH3CHO was investigated by metal loaded TiO2 (pure TiO2, Pt/TiO2,Pd/TiO2, Mn/TiO2 and Ag/TiO2) with UV/TiO2 process and UV/TiO2/O3 process at room temperature andatmospheric pressure. Metal loaded TiO2 was prepared by photodeposition. Decomposition of CH3CHO wascarried out in a ow-type photochemical reaction system using three 10W black light lamps (300~ 400nm)as a light source. The experimental results showed that the degradation rate of CH3CHO was increased withPt and Ag on TiO2 compared to pure TiO2, but decreased with depositing Pd and Mn on pure TiO2. Theconsiderable increase in the degradation efficiency of the CH3CHO was found by a combination ofphotocatalysis and ozonation as compared to only by ozonation or photocatalysis. Loading of Pt on TiO2promoted conversion of gaseous ozone. The degradation rate of gaseous CH3CHO decreased with anincrease of water vapor in the feed stream for the both UV/TiO2 and UV/TiO2/O3 processes. The pure TiO2was more affected by the water vapor than Pt loaded TiO2.
수원시 대기 중 이산화질소(NO₂) 농도변화 특성에 관한 연구

In this study, we selected 6 cities(Suwon- city, Seongnam- city, Anyang-city, Goyang- city, Bucheon- city, Ansan- city) in Kyeonggi province. Nitric dioxide had been coUected at the urban air monitoring stations from an. in 2001 to Dec. in 2007, and analyzed in order to investigate the characteristics of Nitric dioxide concentration. For this study, the variations of Nitric dioxide concentrations yearly and monthly were investigated. Also, the characteristics of Nitric dioxide in each season and site were investigated in the air of Suwon-city.

Over the past few decades, microalgae-based biotechnology conjugated with innovative CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genetic engineering has been attracted much attention for the cost-effective and eco-friendly value-added compounds production. However, the discharge of reproducible living modified organism (LMO) into environmental condition potentially causes serious problem in aquatic environment, and thus it is essential to assess potential environmental risk for human health. Accordingly, in this study, we monitored discharged genetically modified microalgae (GMM) near the research complex which is located in Daejeon, South Korea. After testing samples obtained from 6 points of near streams, several green-colored microalgal colonies were detected under hygromicin-containing agar plate. By identification of selection marker genes, the GMM was not detected from all the samples. For the lab-scale environmental risk assessment of GMM, acute toxicity test using rotifer Brachionus calcyflorus was performed by feeding GMM. After feeding, there was no significant difference in mortality between WT and transformant Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. According to further analysis of horizontal transfer of green fluorescence protein (GFP)-coding gene after 24 h of incubation in synthetic freshwater, we concluded that the GFP-expressed gene not transferred into predator. However, further risk assessments and construction of standard methods including prolonged toxicity test are required for the accurate ecological risk assessment.
