Numerical simulation on rock cutting by a TBM disc cutter was carried out using SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) code. AUTODYN3D, a commercial software program based on finite element method, was used in this study. The three-dimensional geometry of a disc cutter and a rock specimen were modeled by Lagrange and SPH code respectively. The numerical simulation was carried out for Hwangdeung granite for 10 different cutting conditions. The results of the numerical simulation, i.e. the relation between cutter force and failure behavior, had a good agreement with those from LCM test. The cutter forces measured in the numerical simulation had 10% deviation from the LCM test results. Moreover, the optimum cutter spacing was almost identical with the experimental results. These results indicate that SPH code can be successfully used had applicability for simulation on rock cutting by a TBM disc cutter. However, further study on Lagrange-SPH coupled modelling would be necessary to reduce the computation time.

Polymer electrolyte membrane for unitized regenerative fuel cells requires high proton conductivity, high dimensional stability, low permeability, and low cost. However, DuPont's Nafion which is a commercial polymer electrolyte membrane has high permeability, high cost, and decreasing proton conductivity and dimensional stability over $80^{\circ}C$. To address these problems, sulfonated poly ether ether ketone (sPEEK) which is a low cost hydrocarbon polymer is selected as matrix polymer for the preparation of polymer electrolyte membrane. In addition, composite membrane with improved proton conductivity and dimensional stability is prepared by introducing sulfonated graphene oxide (sGO). The fundamental properties of polymer electrolyte membranes are analyzed by investigating membrane's water content, dimensional stability, proton conductivity, and morphology. The cell test is conducted to consider the possibility of application of sPEEK/sGO composite membrane for an unitized regenerative fuel cell.

Korea`s road traffic has been the important role of social and economic development, and it`ll be a much more important in the future. But we require a far more efficient road traffic system to solve the problem of vehicle increases. So this paper is analyzed and researched both road traffic systems and road traffic safety, and hypothesized a solution to the problem by using small town`s road traffic system demands as a good example. The road traffic system should harmonize around the structure of the town, and be related to the safety, By analyzing road traffic system, we can understand how importantly the traffic system is related with safety, efficiency and overall benefits for our community.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to develop a standard tool of pattern identification, which will be applied to clinical research, for benign prostatic hyperplasia. Method: The items and structure of the instrument were based on a review of the published literature in China and Korea. The advisory committee on this study included 11 kidney-endocrine professors of the Korean Medical Colleges Division and 4 Korean medicine doctors who had a doctor's degree in the Kidney-Endocrine Division. The advisory committee was questioned regarding pattern identification importance, symptom weight, treatment importance, changes in the symptoms, rare changes in the symptoms, and frequency of prescriptions regarding benign prostatic hyperplasia. Results: The Korean instrument of pattern identification was completed; it was composed of four questions for benign prostatic hyperplasia. Conclusion: We sincerely look forward to improving the instrument through the continuous clinical studies.

In this paper, we study a noise-robust feature extraction method of speech signal based on auditory modeling. The auditory model consists of a basilar membrane, a hair cell model and spectrum output stage. Basilar membrane model describes a response characteristic of membrane according to vibration in speech wave, and is represented as a band-pass filter bank. Hair cell model describes a neural transduction according to displacements of the basilar membrane. It responds adaptively to relative values of input and plays an important role for noise-robustness. Spectrum output stage constructs a mean rate spectrum using the average firing rate of each channel. And we extract feature vectors using a mean rate spectrum. Simulation results show that when auditory-based feature extraction is used, the speech recognition performance in noisy environments is improved compared to other feature extraction methods.

Fast Time-Scale Modification of Speech Using Nonlinear Clipping Methods

Among the conventional time-scale modification (TSM) methods, the synchronized overlap and add (SOLA) method is widely used due to its good performance relative to computational complexity But the SOLA method remains complex due to its synchronization procedure using the normalized cross-correlation function. In this paper, we introduce a computationally efficient SOLA method utilizing 3 level center clipping method, as well as zero-crossing and level-crossing information. The result of subjective preference test indicates that the proposed method can reduce the computational complexity by over 80% compared with the conventional SOLA method without serious degradation of synthesized speech quality.

There have been significant changes in the Korean railway environment in recent years. First, as the railway restructuring plan, Korea Rail Network Authority and KORAIL were established and commenced their works. Secondly, the opening of the high speed railway has provided a chance of reorganization in the whole operation system of the Korean railway network. These new changed environments require an alternative plan to examine the management system of deficit lines and their stations. This paper is intended to approach to clearly define the concept of deficit rail stations and lines in order to make a contribution to establish a comprehensive rationalization plan in the management environment of railroad. The study proposes some method to categorize their deficit stations and lines by three ways.
