        A Case of Acute Radial Neuropathy in the Affected Side of a Patient with Stroke

        Motor weakness of limbs and trunk are common complaint after stroke. If there are other concurrent causes of motor weakness like focal entrapment neuropathy in paretic limb, it is hard to find them because of weakness due to stroke. A man with the left basal ganglia hemorrhage complained of motor weakness of the right upper extremity, especially wrist and finger extensors. Motor nerve conduction study revealed the right radial neuropathy with definite conduction block between 13 cm and 15 cm proximal to the lateral epicondyle. Ultrasonography showed swelling of right radial nerve at the same lesion. After dexamethasone injection around the right spiral groove, electrodiagnostic findings and clinical feature were significantly improved. In case stroke patients with hemiplegia show persistent motor and sensory impairment in the specific peripheral nerve territory despite of recovery, concomitant neuropathy on the affected side should be considered.

        Resistive switching characteristics of ZnO nanoparticles layer-by-layer assembly based on cortisol and its antibody immune binding

        In this study, a resistive switching (RS) memory characteristic of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles (NPs) multiple layer through a neurotransmitter and its corresponding antibody’s specific binding was demonstrated in Al/ZnO NPs/ITO device format. Particularly, a layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly was enabled through a specific immune binding between a stress hormone, cortisol, and its fittable cortisol monoclonal antibody (c-Mab). The assembly formation was accomplished using sequential LbL deposition, which could accomplish alternating self-assembly monolayers (SAMs) of ZnO NPs as the RS active layer. Here, the current–voltage (I–V) curve exhibited disparate nonvolatile RS characteristics depending on sweep polarity showing consecutively evolved hysteresis. In this study, analog-typed RS function of the ZnO NPs LbL device was demonstrated and characterized.

        효소지수법에 (酵素指數法) 의한 목질판상재료의 연소시험

        The oxygen index test was carried out to obtain the relative flammability of wood-based materials (plywood, MDF, particleboard) and their oxygen indices. The oxygen index is the minimum concentration of oxygen, expressed as volume percent, in a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen that will just support flaming combustion of a material under the specified laboratory conditions. In this study the oxygen indices were calculated by using the Dixon and Massey`s Up and Down method($quot;N$quot; Large method). The obtained results were as follows : 1. The oxygen indices calculated with Up and Down method were 27.9% for plywood, 26.9% for MDF, and 26.2% for particleboard, indicative of plywood being more difficult to burn than MDF and particleboard Lender the same surrounding conditions. 2. The oxygen indices were not affected by the total gas flow rate.

        목질플레이크와 폴리프로필렌망 (網) 플레이크 구성이 톱밥보오드의 팽장성과 휨성질에 미치는 영향

        This study was carried out to investigate the physical and mechanical properties of sawdust boards combined with sycamore and polypropylene-net flakes. Both the sycamore and polypropylene-net flakes were adjusted to the sizes of 1.0 × 1.0, 1.0 × 2.0, and 1.5 × 1.5㎠ and these flakes were mixed at 1, 2, 3, and 4% levels based on ovendry weights of sawdusts. The results obtained in this study were summarized as follows : 1. Thickness swellings of sawdust boards combined with sycamore flakes decreased with the increase of mixture levels and similar effects were also recognized in combination with polypropylene-net flakes. 2. Moduli of rupture both in sawdust boards combined with sycamore and polypropylene-net flakes increased with the increase of their mixture levels, and sawdust boards combined with sycamore flakes of 1.0 × 2.0 ㎠ size and polypropylene-net flakes of 1.5 × 1.5㎠ size showed higher moduli of rupture than control boards. 3. Moduli of elasticity both in sawdust hoards combined with sycamore and polypropylene-net flakes increased with the increase of their mixture levels as in moduli of rupture. 4. The physical and mechanical properties of sawdust boards combined with sycamore and polypropylene-net flakes were mainly dependent on aspect ratio of sycamore flakes and size of polypropylene-net flakes respectively, and these properties were improved with the respective increase of aspect ratio and size.

      • Improvement of sensor sensitivity by mechanical buckling on polycarbonate substrate

        In resent years, surface modifications on biosensors are studied in some trials. Especially, surface bucklings by mechanical force have received significant attentions due to their simplicities and substrate specificity. Through the buckling, the sensitivity enhancement can be allowed to cover low concentrations of target material. The higher sensitivity, the faster treatment can be. Substrate patterning could be obtained by using machanical bukling. In this study, the machanical bukling could make wrinkles on the surface of polycarbonate(PC). Additionally with the stretch of PC, treatment with ultraviolet-Ozone & wash was adopted. To check wrinkles, Alpha-step for micro-scaled wrinkles and AFM for nano-scaled wrinkles were used. By using XRD spectroscopy, the full width at half maximum(FWHM) was measured to confirm whether semi-crystallity of the PC has been changed.

        크라프트펄프 폐액과 표면산화제(表面酸化劑)를 이용한 합판의 접착특성에 관한 연구

        This experiment was executed to investigate the effect of activation of veneer surface by oxidizing agents, hydrogen peroxide and nitric acid, on bonding characteristics of Malas (Homalium foetidum Benth) plywood, in which the effects of these oxidizing agents amount, pretreatment time, and pressing time and temperature on shear strength of the plywood were examined and discussed. In this research the activation of venner surface by oxidants was effective in raising shear strength but the difference in shear strength was not observed between hydrogen peroxide and nitric acid treatment. Hydrogen peroxide treatment, however, seemed to be more profitable to industrial application because of its lower concentration and easier handling than nitric acid. The bonding method by lignin-phenol adhesive through surface activation revealed inferior shear strength to phenol- and urea-formaldehyde adhesive but superior water resistance to urea-formaldehyde adhesive and this bonding method, in addition, have the advantage of lower cost Lompared with phenol-formaldehyde adhesive. Therefore, this bonding method by Lignin-phenol adhesive through surface activation seemed to economical in manufacturing of water-resistant wood panel materials in future.

        당뇨병환자에서 정맥내 Insulin 투여에 따른 Insulin 길항 Hormone 의 변동

        In order to observe the changes of counterregulatory hormones after insulin induced hypoglycemia in IDDM, NIDDM and Vacor induced diabetes. Levels of blood glucose and counterregulatory hormones such as glucagon, growth hormone and cortisol of normal controls and the diabetes in overnight fasting state were measured before and after insulin infusion. The results were as follows; 1) In normal controls after insulin infusion plasma glucose concentration decreased abruptly to reach nadirs in 20 minutes (23.3±8.9mg/dl) while glucagon secretion increased twofold above baseline in 40 minutes (70.5±28.9 to 148.5±19.9, p$lt;0.005). 2) In IDDM and NIDDM after insulin infusion plasma glucose concentration decreased slowly to reach nadirs in 50 minutes, however, in Vacor diabetes to reach in 120 minutes, Glucagon response in IDDM groups was depressed compared with other two diabetic groups. 3) The pattern of plasma growth hormone and cortisol secretion in IDDM and NIDDM was similar to normal controls, but in Vacor diabetes responses of growth hormone and cortisol were significantly decreased compared with other two diabetic groups. These results suggest that glucose recovery from insulin induced hypoglycemia in the diabetes was retarded compared with normal controls, it may be probably due to decreased response of glucagon secretion to hypoglycemia.

        당뇨병환자에서 두발과 손톱단백의 당화

        Glycosylated proteins, especially hemoglobins, have been studied as an accurate index of longterm blood glucose control in diabetic patients. Because there may be a link between glycosylation and chronic complication of diabetes mellitus, similar excessive glycosylation of other tissue proteins were intensively investigated. Tissue collagen has a much slower rate of turnover than hemoglobin. It is, therefore, of interest to investigate possible longer term markers of hyperglycemia other than glycosylated hemoglobin. The results are as follows; 1) The glycosylation of hair and nail protein was significantly higher in diabetics(hair 5.0±0.1nmol fructose/mg, nail 33.9±9.4nmol fructose/mg) than in normal control group(hair 3. 4±0.4nmol fructose/mg, nail 23.8±6.8nmol fructose/mg). In diabetics, glycosylation of the distal hair was higher than that of proximal ones. 2) The relation of glycosylation of hair and nail protein with glycosylated hemoglobin was statistically significant. (hair; r =0.63, p$lt;0.025/ nail,65, P<0.005) 3) The glycosylation of hair and nail protein was higher in insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, and there was a significant correlation between nail protein glycosylation and glycosylated hemoglobin. 4) Controlled diabetics showed a lower glycosylation.

        국어과 협동 학습의 의미와 방법

        이 글은 국어과 협동 학습의 중요성과 구체적인 방법을 다루고 있다. 협동 학습은 한 마디로 일정한 구성원들이 공동의 학습 목표를 설정하고 그 목표에 도달하기 위해 동등한 입장에서 책무를 가지고 문제를 해결해 나감으로써 구성원 모두에게 유익한 결과를 산출해 내고 결과에 대해 공동의 평가를 강조하는 학습 형태이다. 이렇게 협동 학습은 공동의 목표를 갖는다는 점, 구성원 모두가 동등한 입장이라는 점, 개인의 책무성이 강조된다는 점, 모두에게 유익한 결과를 산출하고자 한다는 점, 결과에 대해 공동으로 책임을 진다는 점 등에서 일반적인 학습 형태와는 구별된다. 이 글에서는 국어과에서 협동 학습법의 뜻과 그 중요성을 다루었다. 그런 다음 국어과 협동 학습법을 적용할 때 유의해야 할 원리를 제시했다. 이는 학교 현장에서 협동 학습을 적용하는 데 하나의원리가 될 수 있을 것이다. 이어 국어과의 협동 학습법의 유형으로 배분 학습법, 상호 교수법 등을 제시했다. 그런 다음 각 협동 학습법을 적용할 때의 지도 절차를 살펴보았다. 그리고 협동 학습법의 적용에서는 교수 학습 과정안을 제시함으로써 협동 학습법의 적용 모습을 그려보는 데 도움이 될 수 있게 했다. Korean Language Learning can be achieved by the interaction of the Language among the students. Just as Vygotsky pointed out, the importance of 'social language' and 'role of adult and peer', Korean learning process can be done by the talking with the able student or a teacher, and by the established scaffolding which they communicate between little master and student, between a teacher and students. Accordingly, Cooperative Learning makes students play active roles in their Korean Language Learning.. Because one of the traits of Cooperative Learning is that the member of the group are from heterogeneous groups, Cooperative Learning evokes language interaction actively. 'Teaching According to students level' which the Seventh Korean Language curriculum point, aims individual teaching on the ground of the homogeneous traits of the student. But the social interaction of language which can be active among the heterogeneous groups will be diminished if we devide the student into able and poor group.
