The family mold casting have advantages which are able to make products with different shapes and dimensions simultaneously in a single mold. In this study, the design of the 4 cavity rotor family mold was used by “Anycasting” software, the defects occurred during die casting were predicted and suggested the best optimization conditions for sound products. The result of the experiment were that the optimum overflow design was needed for gas emission and control of residual oxides. It was clear that the defects positions formed by diecasting were agreed with nearly them predicted by simulation.

This paper presents an active position control of a single-rod system featuring an electro rheological(ER) fluid based valve. The ER fluid to be employed to the proposed system is composed and its Bingham property is evaluated as a function of electric fields. Subsequently, a plate type of ER valve is designed on the basis of the field-dependent Bingham model and manufactured. Performance test of the ER valve is undertaken by evaluating pressure drop with respect to the number of electrodes as well as the intensity of electric fields. The ER valve cylinder system is then constructed and its governing equation of motion is derived. A neural control scheme for position control of the cylinder is established by incorporating with proportional-plus-derivative(PD) controller and consequently implemented. Experimental results of both regulating and tracking control responses are presented in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.<br/>
