Fiber-reinforced plastics(FRPs) have excellent specific stiffness and strength, so they are usually used as automotive parts that require high rigidity and lightweight instead of metal. However, it is difficult to predict the mechanical properties of injection molded parts due to the fiber orientation and breakage of FRPs. In this paper, the fiber orientation characteristics and mechanical properties of injection molded specimens were evaluated in order to fabricate automotive transmission side covers with FRPs and design a rib structure for improvement of their rigidity. The test molds were designed and manufactured to confirm the fiber orientation characteristics of each position of the injection molded standard plate-shaped specimens, and the tensile properties of the specimens were evaluated according to the injection molding conditions and directions of specimens. A gusset-rib structure was designed to improve the additional structural rigidity of the target products, and a proper rib structure was selected through the flexural tests of the rib-structured specimens. Based on the evaluation of fiber orientation and mechanical characteristics, the optimization analyses of gate location were performed to minimize the warpage of target products. Also, the deformation analyses against the internal pressure of target product were performed to confirm the rigidity improvement by gusset-rib structure. As a result, it could be confirmed that the deformation was reduced by 27~37% compared to the previous model, when the gusset-rib structure was applied to the joining part of the target products.
친환경 무라벨 사각 PET 용기의 경량 및 강성 균형 설계

As global plastic consumption increases and environmental concerns grow, lightweighting and recyclability of PET containers has become a key priority for the packaging industry. Lightweighting reduces material use, energy consumption, carbon emissions, and costs, but excessive thickness reduction can compromise structural integrity, leading to durability issues. This study proposes a design strategy to achieve both weight reduction and structural stability of an eco-friendly labelling-free rectangular PET container by optimising the rib structure while considering non-uniform thickness distribution. The measured thickness variations were incorporated into FEM-based structural and buckling analyses. The rib orientation, number and placement were varied to evaluate the buckling loads and deformations under axial and transverse loading. The results showed that the vertical rib model (E) improved the buckling load by 284%, while the central rib placement in the horizontal model reduced the axial and transverse deformation by 35% and 4%, respectively. The hybrid rib design (H) mitigated structural weaknesses, improving performance by 324% without increasing weight. This study provides practical guidelines for the design of lightweight PET containers by highlighting the interaction between thickness distribution and rib structure. Future studies incorporating DOE-based optimisation can further enhance lightweighting strategies for different container shapes and molding processes.

This research, based on a national survey data by National Cancer Institute, explores whether and how social support, self-efficacy and communication competence strengthen cancer communication intention, as well as whether and how cancer communication intention influences cancer communication behavior, including screening. Results indicate that if people perceive that they have higher levels of social support, self-efficacy and communication competence, they tend to have stronger cancer communication intention. Also, the stronger the public's cancer communication intention, the more active their cancer communication behavior. In particular, social support through face-to-face communication can improve self-efficacy and make cancer communication more energetic. It seems vital to help the public, the target of health communication, have more confidence on health behavior and increase their intention of initiating health behavior, such as screening, as well. Moreover, this process can contribute to enhancing the public' empowerment in terms of their health care.
아프리카의 에이즈와 제약특허 문제에 관한뉴스프레이밍 분석

This research examines the news framing process in which some occurrences are selected and made more salient by exploring U.S. newspapers’ framing of the AIDS situation in Africa in relation to drug patents. This work critiques how the intellectual property system excludes developing countries from the benefits of scientific innovations, such as AIDS drugs. It further examines how the biomedical aspect of AIDS has been related to the global information regulatory system through drug patents and how the AIDS-drug patent issue has been socially and symbolically represented through news frames. It explores the ways in which such mainstream U.S. news reporting, the New York Times coverage, depicts Africa’s AIDS in relation to drug patents, and compares this reporting with alternative media’s treatment of the same issue by comparing and contrasting recurring interpretive frames from both distinct communities of news construction. 이 연구는 미국 신문이 아프리카의 에이즈와 제약특허 문제를 어떻게 프레임 하는지를 알아보는 것을 통해 특정한 면들이 선택되고, 중요하게 묘사되는 뉴스프레이밍 과정을 탐구해 보고자 한다. 이 연구는 지적재산권 체제가 개발도상국을 에이즈 치료약과 같은 과학적 혁신의 이익으로부터 어떻게 배제하는지를 비판적으로 분석한다. 또한, 에이즈의 생의학적인 면이 어떻게 제약특허를 통해 국제적 정보 규제 시스템과 관련을 맺게 되는지, 또 에이즈와 제약특허 문제가 뉴스프레이밍을 통해 어떻게 사회적이고, 상징적으로 재현되는지를 탐구해 보고자 한다. 이 연구는 ꡔ뉴욕타임즈ꡕ와 같은 주류 뉴스미디어의 보도가 아프리카 에이즈 문제를 제약특허와 관련해 어떻게 묘사하는지를 같은 문제에 대한 대안미디어의 보도와 비교해 분석해 보았다. 주류저널리즘과 대안저널리즘이라는 두 개의 서로 다른 뉴스 생산 및 구성의 공동체로부터 자주 나타나는 해석의 프레임들을 비교하고, 대조하는 것을 통해 뉴스프레이밍 연구를 진행하였다.
Vascular Augmentation in Renal Transplantation: Supercharging and Turbocharging

The most common anatomic variant seen in donor kidneys for renal transplantation is the presence of multiple renal arteries, which can cause an increased risk of complications. Accessory renal arteries should be anastomosed to the proper source arteries to improve renal perfusion via the appropriate vascular reconstruction techniques. In microsurgery, 2 kinds of vascular augmentation methods, known as ‘supercharging’ and ‘turbocharging,’ have been introduced to ensure vascular perfusion in the transferred flap. Supercharging uses a distant source of the vessels, while turbocharging uses vascular sources within the same flap territory. These technical concepts can also be applied in renal transplantation, and in this report, we describe 2 patients who underwent procedures using supercharging and turbocharging. In one case, the ipsilateral deep inferior epigastric artery was transposed to the accessory renal artery (supercharging), and in the other case, the accessory renal artery was anastomosed to the corresponding main renal artery with a vascular graft (turbocharging). The transplanted kidneys showed good perfusion and proper function. No cases of renal failure, hypertension, rejection, or urologic complications were observed. These microsurgical techniques can be safely utilized for renal transplantation with donor kidneys that have multiple arteries with a lower complication rate and better outcome.
