        In English, there are cases where passives apply to a non-object, that is, the object of a certain preposition, esp a locative preposition. The problem is there are cases where cert In English, there are cases where passives apply to a non-object, that is, the object of ain locative prepositions allow the passive transformation, but some others don't. The approach by the syntactic analyses has not been able to predict the behavior exhaustively. As an alternative, the notion "affectedness" came to have attention. However, it has been found that just this semantic notion of "affectedness" alone can't cover the full range of the peculiar behavior of the preposition used for passive transformation. It is also too irresponsible to appeal to the pragmatics, which can explain certain phenomena more persuasively than the syntactic or the semantic approach. This paper purports to explain the phenomena, expanding the semantic notion of "affectedness". By the expansion of the semantic notion, this paper purports to give a criteria for the pragmatic application. This paper takes note of the fact that the passivization does not apply to the time expression PPs. It is suggested that the inapplicability is due to the "unaffectedness" or "trace-free' nature of "the point of time" As for the "cause" and "manner" and "purpose" PPs, it is suggested that they can all be subsumed as meaning the same thing as the by-phrase, and so making the by-phrase a redundancy. However, this paper can't be taken as providing all the necessary explanation. There still remains some unsolved problems.

      • 웨이브렛과 웨이브렛패킷변환을 이용한 정지화상 압축

        초고속 멀티 미디어 정보통신 시대의 도래로 기존 전산망 하에서 다량의 신속한 정보 전송을 위하여 데이터 압축 문제는 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 최근에 소개된 웨이브렛변환과 웨이브렛패킷변환에 의한 압축기법을 동일 경계치 조건에서 서로 비교 검토하였다. 그 결과 웨이브렛패킷변환이 웨이브렛변환보다 개선된 압축률을 보임을 알 수 있으나 최적의 트리를 발견하는데 많은 계산량과 메모리가 요구된다. It is extremely important to compress a very large multimedia data under the currently used communication networks because of the forthcoming high fast multimedia informations. In this paper, image compression methods using the wavelet transform and wavelet packet transform are compared under the exactly same threshold value. As the result, wavelet packet compression is much more effective than the case of the wavelet compression. But, to find the best tree of the wavelet packet transform requires the tremendous large computations and memories.

        웨이블릿 기반 잡음제거와 신경회로망을 이용한 잡음 전력 품질 인식 시스템

        전압강하(sag), 전압상승(swell), 고조파(harmonics)와 충격과도(impulsive transients)와 같은 전력품질(PQ: Power Quality) 신호는 전력전자 장비와 마이크로프로세서 기반 전자장치 운전에 매우 중요한 문제점을 야기시킨다. 웨이블릿 기반 잡음제거 기법과 역전파 신경회로망을 사용하여 잡음 전력품질을 분석하고 인식하는 잡음 전력품질 인식 시스템의 유효성을 본 논문에서 조사하였다. 잡음 전력 인식 시스템에 적용된 알고리즘은 웨이블릿기반 디노이징과 역전파 신경회로망이고, 잡음 전력품질 인식 시스템의 실시간 성능을 검증하기 위하여 Simulink를 사용한 SIL(Software In the Loop)과 TMS320C6713DSK를 사용한 PIL(Processor In the Loop)을 통하여 우수한 인식률을 확인 할 수 있었다. Power Quality (PQ) signal such as sag, swell, harmonics, and impulsive transients are the major issues in the operations of the power electronics based devices and microprocessor based equipments. The effectiveness of wavelet based denoising techniques and recognizing different power quality events with noise has been presented in this paper. The algorithms involved in the noisy PQ recognition system are the wavelet based denoising and the back propagation neural networks. Also, in order to verify the real-time performances of the noisy PQ recognition systems under the noisy environments, SIL(Software In the Loop) and PIL(Processor In the Loop) were carried out, resulting in the excellent recognition performances.

        웨이블릿 변환과 신경회로망을 이용한 전력 품질 인식 시스템에 관한 연구

        Sag, Swell, Impulsive Transient, Harmonics 등의 비정상 전력품질 신호들은 산업체 전력전자 장비, 속도 조절 장치, 공정 제어 시스템의 운전에 상당히 나쁜 영향을 미쳐 전력 공급자 및 수용가 입장에서 매우 중요한 이슈가 되어왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이상의 전력품질 신호들을 획득, 분석 및 인식하기 위하여 Matlab, Simulink, CCS 등의 소프트웨어와 TI의 TMS320C6713DSK 하드웨어 키트와 웨이블릿 변환과 신경 회로망 역전파 알고리즘을 사용하여 전력품질 인식 시스템을 구현하였다. 이 시스템의 실시간 인식 성능을 파악하기 위하여 SIL(Software In the Loop)와 PIL(Process In The Loop)를 수행하였고, 그 결과 평균 99%의 우수한 인식결과를 보여주었다. Nonstationary power quality(PQ) signals which the Sag, Swell, Impulsive Transients, and Harmonics make sometimes the operations of the industrial power electronics equipment, speed and motion controller, plant process control systems in the undesired environments. So, this PQ problem might be critical issues between power suppliers and consumers. Therefore, We have studied the PQ recognition system in order to acquire, analyze, and recognize the PQ signals using the software, i.e, MATLAB, Simulink, and CCS, and the hardware. i.e., TMS320C6713DSK(TI), The algorithms of the PQ recognition system in the Wavelet transforms and Backpropagation algorithms of the neural networks. Also, in order to verify the real-time performances of the PQ recognition system under the environments of software and hardware systems, SIL(Software In the Loop) and PIL(Processor In the Loop) were carried out, resulting in the excellent recognition performances of average 99%.

        Many contemporary discussions of metaphor have taken for granted the primacy of literal language. They tried to interpret Mataphor in the light of literal, normal languages on condition that there are such things. These attitudes on metaphor resulted in theories such as Comparison theory, Interaction theory, and Feature theory,‥‥etc. All of these views failed in explaining and apprehending the full impact of metaphor, though they provided source understanding of it. The failure was due to the dualistic view which lays emphasis on the literal side of metaphor. It says that metaphors can be understood better or only through literal paraphrase. The view didn't understand the metaphorical nature of language. There are proofs that language is metaphorical in its nature considering the metaphoricalness in the human nature and in everyday language. On the basis of these proofs, this paper presents a new view of metaphor. "The point is that certain ways of apprehending things under the aspect of other things or qualities, usually spoken of as metaphor, operate to focus our thought on conditions and qualities in experiences and situations that we are dealing with"(G,Yoos) Thus, metaphors function much the same as felling someone to look out the window instead of a description of what is out the window. They are not literally descriptions but they are substitutes for descriptions.

        원자로 스팀 제너레이터 홀의 수리 및 자동 검사를 위한 원격제어 로봇시스템 설계

        In this paper, we propose a new approach to the development of the automatic vision system to examine and repair the steam generator tubes at remote distance. In nuclear power plants, workers are reluctant of works in steam generator because of the high radiation environment and limited working space. It is strongly recommended that the examination and maintenance works be done by an automatic system for the protection of the operator from the radiation exposure. Digital signal processors are used in implementing real time recognition and examination of steam generator tubes in the proposed vision system. Performance of proposed digital vision system is illustrated by simulation and experiment for similar steam generator model.

      • X-Bar 理論과 意味解釋

        The traditional Phrase Structure Rule has only two types of categories: lexical and phrasal. Lexical categories are word-categories(e.g.N,V,Aux,A,Adv,Det,Deg,etc); phrasal categories are those categories which have the suffix-P(e.g. NP,VP,AP,Adv P,etc), together with S. But xome linguistic phenomena are found which can not be explained only with these two types of categories thus far established. Thus, there arises the necessity of establishing another category-an intermediate category, that is, X-bar category. X-bar category has as its origin the Det-Nom analysis by many linguistists such as Bach, Backer, and Culicover. And it has been found out that there exists this intermediate category (?? category) in B,P, and S, besides N. There is a great amount of empirical evidence which necessitates X-bar category in those categories. This paper also tries to give some examples of semantic interpretation by using X-bar category. By including X-bar convention in the Base, some semantic interpretation can be possible in the Deep structure, thus weakening surfacestructure interpretation and the transformational rule. That is, >-bar syntax can explain ambiguities structurally by contrasting X with ??,??,?? and X-quadraple bar (if there exists one) Over all, X-bar syntax is a better theory than the traditianal phrase stucture syntax because it recognizes the existence of a wider range of categories in natural language and this wide range of categories has much more expressive power structurally and semantically. But there are two crucial theoretical problems in the whole movement to extend the number of category types in X-bar syntax. According to Andrew Radford, these problems are: Ⅰ) What is the range of categories which can have bar-projections Ⅱ) What is the number of bar-projections associated with each such category. With the explanatory power in one hand and these problems in the other hand, X-bar syntax duly requires further study.
