Purpose: Autogenous particulate bone grafting is a type of autogenous bone graft that consists of small particles of cortical and cancellous bone. Autogenous particulate bone grafting has been used for calvarial bone defect after calvarial defect of craniosynostosis and prevention of temporal depression after fronto-orbital advancement. The results were followed up and studied for effectiveness of autogenous calvarial particulate bone grafting. Methods: Cranial vault remodeling and fronto-orbital advancement was performed for six craniosynostosis patient from August 2005 to October 2007. Autogenous particulate bone grafting was harvested from endocortex of separated cranial vault and if insufficient, from extocortex of occipital region using Hudson brace & D'Errico craniotomy bit and was grafted on the calvarial bone defect of cranial vault and temporal hollow. Fibrin glues were added to the harvested particulated bone for adherence and shaping of paticles. Results: Autogenous particulate bone grafting was followed-up at least longer than I year. The calvarial bony defects following primary cranial remodeling were successfully covered and postoperative temporal depressions after fronto-orbital advancement were also well prevented by grafted particulated bone. Conclusion: Autogenous calvarial particulate bone graft can be harvested in infants and young children with minimal donor site morbidity. It effectively heals cranial defects in children and during fronto-orbital advancement reduces the prevalence of osseous defects independent of patient age. It's easy and effective method of reconstruction of calvarial defect.

Even though there are diverse tumors invading skull base, it is impossible to completely remove the tumor only by transcranial approach due to its anatomical complexity. Therefore we operated by transfacial approach as well which allows to have a good vision and remove the tumor from different directions. Transfacial approach is to approach tp the skull base for the tumor located on the margin of skull and face through exposing such as nasal cavity, paranasal cavity, nasopharyngeal cavity, etc. after separating facial bone. In 1990 Janecka introduced it, dividing the face into 4 groups: mini, standard, expanded, and bilateral facial translocation, based on neurovascular and aesthetic line. Transfacial approach makes it possible to do three dimensional tumor resection, remove the tumor, check its margin directly, and have functionally and aesthetically satisfactory reconstruction. In such cases that tumor invades lower part of skull base, the tumor can be removed only by transcanial approach. Although tumor can be removed by transcranial approach to find the location three dimensionally, transfacial approach can be used as adjunctive means which allow to get a good vision and remove the remnant completely. For 36 months, we have executed 16 cases of tranfacial approach, removing tumors located at the skull base. We classify and suggest the role of tranfacial approach based on our documents.

Background : Prognathism is anterior protrusion of mandible, which causes malocclusion or aesthetic problem. Among corrective procedures, BSSO is one of the most commonly used operative procedure. The advantage of BSSO is wide bony contact surface. Before performing this procedure, several measurement and calculation are needed for good occlusional and cosmetic results. There are vertical facial measurement, dental measurement in cephalometric analysis. Methods : In this study, we intend to compare the preoperative with the postoperative measurements and to analyze the effects of BSSO on occlusion and aesthetics. Results & Conclusion : Vertical facial measurement (anterior face height, posterior face height) decreased postoperatively to normal value in most successful cases. Horizontal lower facial measurement (gonial angle and mandibular body length etc.) show the same results.

거제도에서 채집한 야생형 초파리와 성연관 돌연변이체 사이에서의 성적선택에 따른 자기장의 영향을 조사하기 위하여 본 연구를 수행했다. 본 실험에서의 초파리는 4개의 다른 자기장의 힘의 영향하에서 사육되었다. 즉 지구자기장, 탈지구자기장, 지구자기장 2배의 자기장과 지구장기장 8배의 자기장을 설정하고 이들 제어환경하에서 상기 재료 초파리들의 수정란에서 우화하기까지의 발생율을 조사하여 그 결과를 분석하였다. 전체평균 발생율은 지구자기장내의 초파리 집단, 탈지구자기장내의 초파리 집단, 지구자기장 2배의 초파리 집단, 지구자기장내 8배의 초파리 집단에서 각각 20.35%, 24.55%, 25.27%, 29.83%로 지구자기장내의 초파리 집단 전체평균이 Helmholtzcoils 장치를 이용해 조절된 다른 3개의 초파리 집단에서 보다 상대적으로 낮은 발생율을 보여 주었다. 상이한 자기장내에서의 계수일자에 관한 발생빈도를 보면, 계수 첫째날부터 셋째날까지의 빈도가 지구자기장내 초파리집단에서 약 63%가, 탈지구자기장 집단에서는 약70%, 지구자기장 2배의 집단에서는 65%를, 그리고 지구자기장 8배의 초파리 집단에서는 전체 평균 발생빈도의 74%를 넘는 것으로 관찰되었다. This study was carried out to elucidate influence of magnetic field on sexual selection between sex-linked mutant and the wild type of Drosophila melanogaster collected at keojedo. For the present experiment using population cages, each fly of four cages reared under the influence of four different strengths of magnetic field, that is, the ambient, the without, the double and the eight-fold magnetic field artificially generated by Helmholtz coils. Also the study was analysed emergence frequencies of progeny on counting days due to eggs laying by mated females on a complete food. The over-all mean emergence rates of population of 25 generations reared under the four different magnetic fields, the ambient, the without, the double and the eight-fold, were 20.35%, 24.55%, 25.27% and 29.83%, respectively. The fly population raised under the ambient magnetic field showed a relatively lower emergence rate than any of those raised under the other three magnetic fields. Emergence frequencies of progeny on counting days from 1st to 3rd day under different magnetic fields were above 63%, 70%, 65% and 74%,respectively.

Solitary tubulovillous adenoma of the duodenal bulb is a rare tumor, which has not been reported in the Korean literature. Most of duodenal adenoma is located in the second portion of the duodenum. We report an unusual case of tubulovillous adenoma of the duodenal bulb. The lesion was treated by the endoscopic mucosal resection and was histologically diagnosed as tubulovillous adenoma. 십이지장의 관상융모상선종(tubulovillous adenoma)은 드물며, 대부분 십이지장 하행부의 팽대부 주변에서 발견되고 십이지장 구부에서는 매우 드물다. 이 종양은 악성화 가능성 때문에 절제 및 절제 후 추적 및 관찰하는 것이 원칙이다. 아직까지 십이지장 구부에서 생긴 관상융모상선종의 내시경 소견 및 내시경 절제에 대한 국내 연구보고는 없었다. 저자들은 상부위장관 내시경 검사에서 우연히 발견되어 내시경 점막절제술로 제거한 십이지장 구부의 관상융모상선종 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고한다.

Chronic eosinophilic leukemia is a rare myeloproliferative disorder, It is considered by some to be a variant of chronic myelogenous leukemia. Still, others classify persistent eosinophilia accompanied by an unexplained organ system dysfunction with no underlying cause, under the broad classification of hypereosinophilic syndrome. It is characterized by a persistent eosinophilia of an immature form due to the infiltration of tissue by eosinophil and hepatosplenomegaly, anemia, thrombocytopenia and a brief clinical course. We report a case of eosinophilic leukemia. A 72-year-old man presented anorexia, dizziness and generalized weakness. The peripheral blood showed persistent eosinophilia of an immature form, anemia and thrombocytopenia. The bone marrow study showed a shift to the left, with many eosinophilic myelocyte and marrow fibrosis. The LAP score and chromosome analysis showed normal findings.
