- A high-power continuous-wave (CW) ten-vane double-strapped magnetron oscillator has been investigated using three-dimensional (3D) particle-in-cell (PIC) numerical simulation code, MAGIC3D. The resonant modes and their resonant frequencies of the ten-vane strapped magnetron resonator were obtained to show a large mode separation near the -mode. An electron cloud formed in an anode-cathode gap, called an interaction space was confined well enough to result in no leakage current. Five spokes were clearly observed in the electron cloud, which definitely ensured the -mode oscillation in the ten-vane magnetron. Numerical simulations predicted that the saturated microwave output power measured at the coaxial output port was 5.41 kW at the microwave frequency of 893 MHz, corresponding to a power conversion efficiency of 72.6% when the external axial magnetic field was 1150 gauss and the electron beam voltage and current were 6 kV and 1.25 A, respectively.

The lanthanide complexes with β-diketone ligands have been studied with respect to the application in organic light emitting diodes(OLED). The absorption spectra of the complex were varied by changing the conjugated system of the β-diketone and characteristic of ligand (electron acceptor or electron donor). We have studied the efficiency of energy transfer from the triplet-state levels of the ligand to the central Eu??, Tb?? ion. For these calculations, we employed a well-known semi-empirical approach(ZINDO/S) for the CI calculation. Computational results of chelate compounds are compared with experimental data. We have tried to design the efficient ligand according to the correlation of the relative positions of the triple-state and the lanthanide ionie energy levels.

고출력 마그네트론 발진기는 마이크로파 발생원으로서 식품, 고무, 섬유, 목재, 세라믹, 폐기물 등의 다양한 산업적 프로세스에 응용된다. 여러 가지 새로운 마이크로파 응용분야들이 보고되고 있을 뿐만 아니라 계속 연구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 3차원 PIC 시뮬레이션 코드를 이용하여 이중 스트랩형 고출력 마그네트론을 모델링하였다. 본 논문에서는 이 마그 네트론의 발진모드, 발진주파수, 발진출력 등의 발진 특성 결과가 제시될 것이다.

A rapid start of robust radiation helped by a temporary excitation in an axial mode adjacent to the desired pi-mode is shown in a gigawatt-class magnetically insulated line oscillator by using a particle-in-cell simulation. A time-frequency analysis of the microwave output signal demonstrates that an oscillator with four interaction cavities experiences a delayed start of oscillation due to a severe mode competition whereas an oscillator with eight interaction cavities rapidly radiates strong microwaves in the non-competitive neighbor mode, then the operating mode softly moves to the pi-mode without microwave power loss because of the relatively small difference between the phase velocities of the modes.

- When the energy of the nanoseconds high voltage pulse with hundreds picoseconds of the pulse rise time is emitted into the free space via an antenna, an ultra wide band electromagnetic wave is generated. This electromagnetic wave is expected to be used in transmitting vast amount of informations to far distance, high performance radars, post-packaging pasteurization of food, the detection of underground buried objects, searching of underground water veins or caves, the treatment of waste water or polluted gases and so forth. Additionally, this technology can be used in EMI(electromagnetic interference) evaluation of measuring instruments or printed circuit boards.
