Purpose: To report triamcinolone regurgitation into the anterior chamber after intravitreal triamcinolone injection for macular edema. Methods: A total of 402 eyes (432 cases) received intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide for macular edema from November 2002 to December 2004. A retrospective review included the medical records of all patients who showed regurgitation into the anterior chamber after intravitreal triamcinolone injection. The clinical outcome and any complications were analyzed. Results: Regurgitation was observed in 9 of 402 eyes (11 of 432 cases, 2.55%) after intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide injection. All were phakic eyes. Pseudohypopyon was observed during the follow-up period but resolved gradually without any significant complications. Intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide results in increased visual acuity (p<0.01) and decreased macular thickness (p<0.01) after 2 weeks of injection. Conclusions: Triamcinolone particles that regurgitated into the anterior chamber gradually resolved without any significant complications. These can, however, mask symptoms of endophthalmitis and delay accurate diagnosis, so careful follow-up examination is imperaive.

Previous long-term measurements of the Uldolmok tidal current power plant showed that the structure\'s natural frequencies fluctuate with a constant cycle—i.e., twice a day with changes in tidal height and tidal current velocity. This study aims to improve structural health monitoring (SHM) techniques for offshore structures under a harsh tidal environment like the Uldolmok Strait. In this study, lab-scale experiments on a simplified offshore structure as a lab-scale test structure were conducted in a circulating water channel to thoroughly investigate the causes of fluctuation of the natural frequencies and to validate the displacement estimation method using multimetric data fusion. To this end, the numerical study was additionally carried out on the simplified offshore structure with damage scenarios, and the corresponding change in the natural frequency was analyzed to support the experimental results. In conclusion, (1) the damage that occurred at the foundation resulted in a more significant change in natural frequencies compared with the effect of added mass; moreover, the structural system became nonlinear when the damage was severe; (2) the proposed damage index was able to indicate an approximate level of damage and the nonlinearity of the lab-scale test structure; (3) displacement estimation using data fusion was valid compared with the reference displacement using the vision-based method
계층화된 매크로/펨토 셀 네트워크에서의 불필요한 핸드오버 절감을 위한 향상된 핸드오버 결정 알고리즘

매크로셀과 펨토셀로 구성된 계층적 셀룰라 네트워크에서 펨토셀의 활용률을 극대화하기 위해서는, 대부분의 이동 단말이 펨토셀에 우선적으로 연결되도록 하는 것이 바람직하다. 하지만 매크로셀 내부에 많은 수의 펨토셀을 포함시키는 경우 단말의 이동성과 펨토셀의 작은 통신 반경으로 인해 매크로셀↔ 펨토셀 간 핸드오버의 횟수는 상당히 증가할 것으로 예상되고 있다. 이것은 셀 영역 내부에 있는 모든 펨토셀 기지국과의 핸드오버를 동시에 처리해야 하는 매크로셀 기지국에게는 큰 부담으로 작용할 수 있게된다. 따라서 향상된 핸드오버 결정 알고리즘을 통해 매크로셀과 펨토셀 간의 불필요한 핸드오버들을 억제하는 것이 필요하다. 특히 계층화된 매크로/펨토 셀 네트워크에서는 펨토셀에 짧은 시간 (예: 수초 이내)동안 머무르는 일시적 방문자들이 펨토셀로 핸드오버 되는 것을 막는 것이 매우 중요하다. 본 논문은 단말의 미래 위치 예측 기법을 이용하여 이러한 일시적 펨토셀 방문자들을 선별함으로써 불필요한 매크로셀→펨토셀 핸드오버를 억제할 수 있는 핸드오버 결정 알고리즘을 제시하고 있다. 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통한 실험 결과, 제안하는 기법은 기존의 관용 핸드오버 결정 기법과 비교했을 때 불필요한 핸드오버를 최고 40%까지 절감할 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. In hierarchical macro/femto-cell networks, it is desirable to have every mobile terminal prefer to exploit low cost femtocell connectivity rather than using macro cell. Under this policy, when a macrocell includes a large number of femtocells, the number of handover is largely increased due to frequent macro ↔ femto cell handovers. Such situation gives a huge amount of signaling overheads to macrocell base station because each handover process requires complicated message exchange and negotiation procedure. Hence, it is important to avoid unnecessary macro → femto cell handovers of temporary femtocell visitors who stay in the femtocell for a relatively short time. In this paper, we propose a smart handover decision algorithm exploiting future mobility pattern prediction scheme to prevent macro → femto cell handovers of such temporary femtocell visitors. In extensive computer simulations, our proposed handover decision algorithm reduces up to 40% of unnecessary handovers from conventional handover decision algorithm.

This paper presents the development and experimental evaluation of a collision detection method for robotic manipulators sharing aworkspace with humans. Fast and robust collision detection is important for guaranteeing safety and preventing false alarms. The maincause of a false alarm is modeling error. We use the characteristic of the maximum frequency boundary of the manipulator's dynamicmodel. The tendency of the frequency boundary’s location in the frequency domain is applied to the collision detection algorithm using aband pass filter (band designed disturbance observer, BdDOB) with changing frequency windows. Thanks to the band pass filter, whichconsiders the frequency boundary of the dynamic model, our collision detection algorithm can extract the collision caused by the disturbancefrom the mixed estimation signal. As a result, the collision was successfully detected under the usage conditions of faulty sensorsand uncertain model data. The experimental result of a collision between a 7-DOF serial manipulator and a human body is reported.

Purpose: To differentiate complex obstruction from the nasal cavity floor when performing probing in congenital nasolacrimal obstruction. Methods: Twenty-five eyes of 23 patients with congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction were treated by probing from January to December 2003. We measured the length between the medial canthus and nasal ala and between the punctum and nasal floor after positioning the probe in the nasal cavity and compared the two lengths. Results: There were 15 males and 10 females. Their mean age was 11.48±4.32 months. The mean length between the lower punctum and nasal floor was 3.28±0.34 cm, and the mean length between the medial canthus and nasal ala was 2.82±0.26 cm. The length between the punctum and nasal floor was longer than that between the medial canthus and nasal ala (p<0.01). There was a positive relationship between two lengths (r=0.805, p<0.01). Conclusions: Measuring the length between the medial canthus and nasal ala before probing in patients with congenital nasolacrimal obstruction is helpful to distinguish the nasal floor from complex nasolacrimal obstruction when a hard stop is encountered.

Purpose: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of a procedure using a new incision line in cases of epiblepharon. Methods: This study comprises 199 eyes of 105 patients (56 males, 49 females) clinically diagnosed with epiblepharon. The mean period of follow-up was 4.42 months. After marking the punctal position, the medial limit of the incision line was determined so as not to exceed the medial canthus, and the lateral limit was determined so as not to touch the cilia. The lower incision line was a folded line of skin formed after pulling the upper skin of the medial canthal area or after a downward gaze of the patient. The upper incision line was parallel to the lid margin from the medial limit and met the lower incision line at the lateral limit. Results: Recurrence happened in three eyes, but only one of them underwent re-operation. The other 2 eyes showed weak touching not to need operation. There were no postoperative complications. Conclusions: This procedure with a newly designed incision line for cases of epiblepharon showed a low recurrence rate and good cosmetic results, with a reduced operation time.
