From 2006 through 2007, the highest need for the most urgent attention in Gangwon-do Wild Animal Rescue Center was wildlifevehicle collisions (WVC). The Korean Ministry of Environment reported 6543 WVC`s in 2005 and 5565 cases of WVC`s in 2006. In this study, data from the Gangwon-do Wild Animal Rescue Center was utilized to analyze WVC incidents and the movement of wildlife near roadways in Korea. From 2006 through the first half of 2008, the portable GPS device recorded accident location of the injured wildlife. Attempts were made to track and monitor the movements of four raccoon dogs and five Korean water deers near the roads. One raccoon dog and one Korean water deer were successfully tracked and monitored. Their locations were transmitted to cell phones. The amount of WVC`s was highest amongst the roads near the forests of Gangwon-do. The devices installed on the nearby roads did not protect the wildlife from WVC`s. Results using the CDMA-type GPS collar showed that wildlife often crossed the road even with devices installed to prevent this from crossing roads. This research analyzed the behaviors of different wildlife animals and WVC`s. New preventative measures need to be established to avoid roadkill. It is suggested that new streets be built or for an appropriate speed limit be implemented.

Eurasian eagle owl (Bubo bubo kiautschensis) is a natural monument (No. 324) and is also classified as an endangered wildlife grade II the Ministry of Environment of Korea. Eurasian eagle owl is threatened by the human being. But the efficient rescue and treatment for Eurasian eagle owl are still problematic, due to lack of basic data. In this study, to obtain basic resources for establishing more efficient rescue system, we held a physical examination and measured size physical part. In addition, we analyzed blood sample and feces samples and autopsy. We conduct the physical examination with measuring tapes and scales for 16 live features and 11 dead features. After inhalation anesthesia take the blood samples from wing vein. Blood samples are analyzed in hematologic and chemistric method. Collect the feces through individual floor of cages from 12 live features and conduct the feces analysis. Autopsy was conducted for 11 dead samples. In physical examination, the mean body weight and total length of live features was 2.26±0.35kg, 61±2.38 ㎝. the mean body weight and total length of dead features was 1.57±0.51kg, 59.31±3.51cm. Mean PCV was 46.57±4.97%, while mean TPP was 3.49±0.57g/dL. In feces sample analysis, 9 of 12 owls(75%) were infested by gastrointestinal helminths. The infection rates were: Trematoda (41.7%), Capilaria sp.(66.7%), acanthocephalans (25%). In autopsy, we confirmed 11 features were infested by duplicated infection of more than 2 helminths. Result of this study will be used for establishing reference range for physical features, blood analysis in Eurasian eagle owl. Therefore, to obtain basic resources for establishing more efficient rescue system, we have to make long-term conservation plans for Eurasian eagle owl.
사염화탄소에 의해 유발된 간독성에 대한 galangin의 보호효과

In order to evaluate the protective effects of galangin on CCl4-induced hepatotoxicity, GOT, GPT and malondialdehyde(MDA) values were measured in ICR mice. Galangin,a flavonoid compound, was administered orally for six days and immediately CCl4 was injected intraperitoneally after the last dose of galangin. Mice were sacrificed at 24h after the administration of CCl4. In the multiple pre-treatments for 6 consecutive days, galangin showed more potent protective effects than silymarin as reference active compound in serum GOT, GPT and MDA values in the liver at all doses tested. Antioxidative activity was determined by measuring the amounts of MDA formed from ethyl linoleate by H2O2 in vitro. Galangin showed higher inhibition than silymarin. These results demonstrate a possible hepato-protective role of galangin against CCl4-induced hepatotoxicity in vivo and H2O2-induced lipid peroxidation in vitro. Therefore, galangin may be capable of protecting hepatotoxicity.
악성 난소 종양 진단을 위한 Pulastility Index, New Scoring System 및 CA-125에 관한 비교연구

It has been reported that there are some differances between malignant and benign tumor in the wave form of the intratumoral or surface arterial blood flow. Transvaginal Doppler ultrasound with color flow imaging was used in 24 women with ovarian tumor before explorative laparotomy. The impedence of wave forms were analysed using values nf pulsatility index (PI). Transvaginal sonographic (TUS) scoring system and CA 125 were also checked before operation. The sensi tivity of Pl was 100%, compared with those of TVS scoring system (75%) and CA 125 (63%) even though the specificity of PI (81.3%) was less than those of TVS scoring system (87.5%) and CA 125 (93.8%). But, in the early stage of cancer the sensitivity of PI (100% ) is quite higher than those of TVS scoring system (60%) and CA 125 (40%). Based on the results transvanginal Doppler color flow imaging may he a useful clinical tool in the differential diagnosis of malignant, ovarian tumor.
자궁경부 종양에서 EGFR, TGF-alpha 및 Ki-67 발현에 대한 면역조직학적 연구

N/A Objective : Cervical carcinoma of the uterus, the most common maliganacy among women in Korea, which its etiology and pathogenesis are not yet determined. Recently, since it has been found about the function of the growth factor and its receptor, involved in the regulation of cellular growth and differentiation, many studies have been undertaken about the role of growth factors and its receptors in the growth and differentiation of the tumor cell. Methods : In this study, we examined the expression of EGFR, TGF-alpha and Ki-67 in 50 CINs and 20 invasive cervical cancers using immunohistochemical stain. Results : Positive rate of EGFR was 92% in CIN, 80% in invasive cancer, negative rate of TGF-alpha was 74% in CIN, 80% in invasive cancer and Ki-67 labelling index(LI) in normal basal cell, CIN I-II, CIN III were 5±0.7, 13±2.5, 65±5.4 repectively and in invasive cancer, LI was over 90. from this result as cervical carcinoma progresses, the expression of EGFR and Ki-67 increase while that of TGF-alpha decreases. Conclusion : As cervical carcinoma progress, the expression of EGFR and Ki-67 increase while that of TGF-alpha decreases. Further studies on the expression of EGFR and TGF-alpha and its growth-stimulation mechanism in cervical carcinoma are warranted to establish the pathogenesis of the cervical carcinoma.
