The rate of reaction between hydrazine and bromine in sulfuric acid media has been measured by gas evolution. The rate constant for the N2H4-Br2 reaction, K3 is 16×10-3 sec-1, and K3, catalyzed by hydrated copper(Ⅱ) is 19×10-3sec-l. 황산 산성용액에서 히드라진과 브롬의 반응속도 상수를 가스발생에 의해서 추정 했으며 그값은 K_(3)=16x10^(-3)sec^(-1)구리(Ⅱ)촉매 하에서 K_(3)=19x10^(-3)sec^(-1)를 얻었다.

A study was carried out to find the concentration of sulfur dioxide and sulfur trioxide in the air in the Seoul areas from January through March, 1974 . Sulfur dioxide was measured by p-rosaniline formaline method at residential, cross-roads and industrial areas. Sulfur trioxide was measured by lead dioxide method at residential, cross-roads, commertial, and industrial areas. The results are summarized as follollows: 1. The mean concentration of sulfur dioxide for three months was 0.049 ppm with the range 0.028 at residential areas to 0.068 at cross- roads. 2 . The highest concentration of sulfur dioxide was measured at 7 to 9 a.m. with 0.079 ppm, while the the lowest at 1 to 3 a. m. with 0.030 ppm. 3. The mean concentration of sulfur trioxide for three months was 3.72mg SO3/day/100cm2PbO2 with the range 2.90 at residential areas to 4.82 at industrial.

An inexpensive, yet convenient polarograph device was constructed. A three electrode polarograph making use of operational amplifiers μA 741 was constructed. To verify its usefulness, polarograms for cadmium ions in 1F KCI solution and for reduction of oxygen in an air-saturated 0.1 F KCI solution were tested.

서울시 大氣中의 亞黃酸가스(SO₂) 및 二酸化窒素 (NO₂)에 關한 調査硏究

A study was carried out to find the concentration of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide in the Seoul metropolitan erea where the air pollution had been known to be heavy, from january 1971 to April 1971. Sulfur dioxide was measured by p-Rosaniline formaline method and nitrogen dioxide by Sartzman method at residential, cross-roads, and industrial districts. And also the source of pollution was evaluated with recent years' consumptions of coal and oil. The results are summarized as follows: 1. The mean concentration of sulfur dioxide for four months was 0.047ppm with the range of 0.026ppm at residential districts to 0.066ppm at cross-roads, and the mean concentration of nitrogen dioxide for four months was 0.401ppm with the range of 0.304ppm at residential districts to 0.476ppm at croses-roads. 2. The highest concentration of sulfurdioxide was measured at 7:00 to 9:00a.m with 0.077ppm, while the lowest at 1:00 to 3:00a.m with 0.028ppm, and the highest concentration of nitrogen dioxide was measured at 11:00 to 13:00p.m. with 0.905ppm. while the lowest at 23:00 to 1:00a.m with 0.147ppm. 3. Since 1965, the consumption rate of oil in Seoul showed rapid increase, while that of coal showed slow increase.

The rate constant for the N2H4-Br2 reaction has been measured in sulfuric acid by gas evolution, the values measured gave K3~30×10-3 sec-1, it has been K1 inferred that K3 represents the rate constant for X→N2(N2H4+Br2 → N2H2, K2 N2H4+Br2 →X). When hydrazine reacts with bromine in the presence of copper (11), hydrogen is considered to be produced in addition to nitrogen, and by using low concentrations of hydrogen ion, trace amounts of hydrazoic acid and ammonia form.
