Using Streptomyces chibaensis, which produces a strong inulin-hydrolyzing enzyme, the optimum cultural conditions and composition of the medium for the production of inulase were studied. 1. The highest enzyme activity was obtained at pH 7.5 after 84 hours culture at $30^{\circ}C$. 2. None of carbon source better than inulin was found. 3. $(NH_4)_2HPO_4$ and corn steep liquor were favourable inorganic and organic nitrogen sources for the production of inulase. 4. $KCl,\;MgSO_4\;and\;FeSO_4$ as the metallic salts were effective for the enzyme production at their concentrations of 0.01, 0.05 and 0.0001%, respectively. 5. The highest production of inulase was obtained from the medium of inulin 1.0% and corn steep liquor 2.0% concentrations, respectively. 강력(强力)한 inulin 분해력(分解力)을 가진 Streptomyces chibaensis균주(菌株)를 이용하여, 효소생산(酵素生産)에 효과적인 배양조건 및 배지조성을 검토(檢討)하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 효소생산배지(酵素生産培地)의 최적 초기 pH는 7.5였으며, 이 조건하에서 $30^{\circ}C$에서 84시간 배양했을 때 가장 높은 효소역가를 나타냈다. 2. Inulase를 다량생산(多量生産)하기 위한 배지의 탄소원(炭素源)으로서는 다른 탄소원(炭素源)에 비하여 inulin이 가장 효과적이었다. 3. 무기질소원(無機質素源)으로는 $(NH_4)_2HPO_4$가 inulase생산(生産)에 가장 효과적(效果的)이었고, 유기질소원(有機窒素源)으로는 corn steep liquor가 효과적(效果的)이었다. 4. 무기염(無機鹽)으로 KCI 0.01%, $MgSO_4$ 0.05%, 그리고 $FeSO_4$ 0.0001% 첨가하였을 때 가장 효과가 컸다. 5. 탄소원(炭素源)(inulin) 1%와 질소원(窒素源)(corn steep liquor) 2%의 비율(比率)로 혼합(混合)하여 만든 배지(培地)에서 가장 효소생산(酵素生産)이 높았다.
스테레오 카메라를 이용한 측두하악관절 교정장치(NO SICK)의 성능 평가

카이로프래틱 치료에서 측두하악관절(TMJ)는 인체의 균형을 유지하는데 중요한 역할을 하는 관절로서 구강내 교정장치를 통해 인체의 균형을 교정할 수 있게 된다. 현재 이러한 구강내 교정장치의 효과를 스테레오비전을 이용하여 정량적으로 평가할 수 있는 측정 장치가 없었기 때문에 본 연구에서는 이를 측정 할 수 있는 시스템을 개발하였다. 이 시스템은 스테레오 비전과 적외선 조명, 적외선 통과 필터 등으로 구성되어 있으며, 광학식 마커를 피험자의 주요 부위에 부착하여야 한다. 마커의 부착위치는 얼굴의 주요 랜드 마커 중 구강내 교정장치의 착용으로 인해 변화가 나타날 수 있는 8개의 부위를 선택하였다. 개발된 시스템을 이용하여 11명의 피험자를 대상으로 교정장치 착용 전/후 마커의 변화량을 측정하였을 때, 피험자의 얼굴에 부착된 마커의 위치 변화가 정량적으로 측정되었다. TMJ(TemporoMandibular Joint) is considered as the most important articulation in human body for maintaining the balance. Thus it is one of the main treatment areas in Chiropractic. Instead of Chiropractic treatment, NOSICK, a TMJ balancing device, can be used. As there is no such device to quantify the effect of NOSICK, a system was developed to measure the effect of NOSICK. This system is composed of stereo vision, infrared lights, and infrared through filter, etc. It requires optical markers for the measurement. 8 land markers were selected from the face which will show different displacement as NOSICK is applied. 11 test subjects were measured with the system developed with and without NOSICK applied. Quantifiable displacement of markers before and after applying NOSICK was successfully measured with the system developed.
Streptomyces chibaensis Inulase의 열불활성화에 관한 연구

Crude and purifcied Inulase from Streptomyces chibaensis were heat inactivated in 0.1M phosphate buffer solution. The results were as follows: 1. The thermal inactivation of crude inulase did not follows first order kinetics for the range of temperatures 45℃∼55℃ while that of purified one did not follow first order kinetics for the range of temperatures 45℃∼50℃. 2. The changes in entalpy, Gibbs free energy, and entropy of purified inulase at 50℃ were 169.76KJ/mol, 67.55KJ/mol.K respectively. 3. The changes in entalpy, Gibbs free energy, and entropy of purified inulase at 50℃ were 164.67KJ/mol, 98.44KJ/mol, and 205.03J/mol.K respectively.

Several counditions were studied to select the optimum pH for the growth and the production of proteolytic enzyme of Bacillus subtilis strains isolated from maezu loaves. The result were as fallows. 1. Bacillus subtilis M-2 was the most powerful protease producer among Bacillus subtilis strains (M-1, M-2 M-3, and M-4). 2. The optimum pH for the growth of Bacillus subtilis M-2 was pH 7.0 and the proteolytic enzyme obtained from the medium adjusted to pH 7.0 exhibited the highest activity. 3. Irrespective of the pH of the cultivation media, the optimum pH of casein substrate for the pratease activity of Bacillus subtilisM-2 was pH 7.0
Rhodotorula graminis sw-54에 의한 carotenoid 생산성에 관한 연구

A potent extracellular-lipid producing yeast, Rhodotorula graminis sw-54??, was shake-cultured at 25℃ for 8 days. the carotenoid components produced by the yeast were torularhodin (29.76%), torulene (29.37%), neurosporene (2.62%), γ-carotene (14.84%), β-zeacarotene (2.32%) and β-carotene (21.09%). When the yeast was shake-cultured at a different temperature from 5℃ to 35℃, the amount of produced pigments was different depending on the kinds of the carotenoid components. The amount of γ-carotene, a precursor of β-carotene and torulene, was kept almost the same at a different temperature of cultivation. The conversion ratio of γ-carotene to β-carotene was large at low temperature and at room temperature γ-carotene was mainly converted to torulene.
