2009 개정 교육과정에 따른 고등학교 "과학" 교과서의 STS 내용분석 - "생명의 진화"와 "인류의 건강과 과학기술" 영역을 중심으로 -

본 연구는 과학 교과서의 ‘생명의 진화’와 ‘인류의 건강과 과학기술’ 영역에서 STS 내용의 포함 정도를 분석하여 2009 개정 교육과정의 목표에 잘부합하는지 여부를 규명하는 것을 연구 목적으로 하였다. 7종의 교과서를 STS 주제 영역을 기준으로 분석한 결과, 비율로 보면, 적게는 16.67%를, 많게는 58.33%를 포함하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 STS와 관련된 주제 중, ‘우주개발과 국방’과 ‘환경문제’는 표현되지 않았다. STS 활동 영역에서는 ‘구조화된 토론’, ‘자료 해석’, ‘조사 연구’영역에서 많은 활동 횟수를 보이고 있음을 알 수있었다. 반면 ‘현장 활동’, ‘문제 해결과 의사 결정’, ‘역할 놀이’, ‘모의 실험’, ‘사례 연구’, ‘연구고안’의 STS 활동 영역은 그 횟수가 적게 나타났다. 그러나 2009 개정 과학 교과서에서는 STS 활동 영역이 다양하게 포함하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 각 영역별 STS 내용 포함률을 분석한 결과, ‘과학의 응용성’에 해당하는 내용이 67.57%로 최대내용을 구성하고 있었지만, ‘과학과 관련된 직업에 대한 인식‘은 1.63%로 그 빈도의 차이가 켰다. ``과학의 응용성’ 이외의 7가지 내용 준거는 10%를 조금 넘거나, 대부분 10%가 채 되지 않는 비율로 각각의 내용을 포함하고 있었다. 7종의 고등학교 융합형 ‘과학’ 교과서 생명과학 영역에 포함된 STS내용은 평균 20.75%로, 교과서별 최소 12.35%에서부터 많게는 26.90%를 포함하고 있었다. The present study aims to analyze the extent of the use of STS contents in the areas of ``Evolution of Life`` and ``Health of Humanity and Scientific Technology`` in ``Science`` textbooks and to determine whether they meet the goals of the curriculum revised in 2009. The analysis of the 7 types of textbooks according to the STS topics areas indicated big differences between textbooks as little as 16.67% and as much as 58.33%. Also, among the topics associated with STS, ``Space Development and National Defense`` and ``Environmental Problems`` were not included. In the STS activity areas, the areas of ``Structured Debate,`` ``Interpretation of Data,`` ``Research and Investigation`` showed great frequency. On the other hand, the STS activity areas of ``Field Activities,`` ``Problem-solving and Decision-making,`` ``Role Playing,`` ``Simulation,`` ``Case Study,`` and ``Research Design`` showed small frequency. Analysis of the STS contents for each area indicated 67.57% for the contents relevant to ``the applicability of science`` accounting for the largest part whereas ``Understanding of Occupations related to Science`` accounted for 1.63%, showing a great difference in their frequency. Seven standards except ``the applicability of science`` were included each contents beyond 10% or less than 10% proportion. The STS contents included in the life science area of the 7 types of convergence-style ``Science`` textbooks for the high-school accounted for an average of 20.75%, from as little as 12.35% to as much as 26.90%, depending on the publishes.
