Vol.17 No.2
This is a preliminary study for the real-time feedback vibration control of building structures. The study developed a wireless acceleration sensor system based on authentic technology capacities, to integrate with the Prototype AMD system and ultimately construct the feedback vibration control system. These systems were used to evaluate the basic performance levels of the control systems within model building structures. For this purpose, the study first developed a wireless acceleration sensor unit that integrates an MEMS sensor device and bluetooth communication module. Also, the study developed an operating program that enables control output based on real-time acceleration response measurement and control law. Furthermore, the Prototype AMD and motor driver system were constructed to be maneuvered by the AC servo-motor. Eventually, all these compositions were used to evaluate the real-time feedback vibration control system of a 2-story model building, and qualitatively measure the extent of vibrational reduction of the target structure within the laboratory validation tests. As a result of the tests, there was a definite vibrational reduction effect within the laboratory validation tests. As a result of the tests, there was a definite vibrational reduction effect within 1st and 2nd resonance frequency as well as the random frequency of the model building structure. Ultimately, this study confirmed the potential of its wireless acceleration sensor system and AMD system as an effective tool that can be applied to the active vibration control of other structures.

Recently, in an attempt to overcome the defects of quiescent power shutdown system, smart quiescent power controlsystem has been developed. However, due to its higher investment costs, feasibility evaluation must be conducted. While LCCA (Life Cycle Cost Analysis) model is useful to estimate net savings of alternatives that differ with respectto initial costs and operating costs, the environmental burdens are not considered. On the contrary, LCA (Life CycleAssessment) model is suitable to assess environmental impacts associated with the stages of a product’s life but itdoes not consider costs. In this study, a comprehensive analysis on the economic and environmental impacts of smartquiescent power control system is conducted by using LCCA and LCA model. In addition, sensitivity analysis iscarried out to quantify accuracy of estimates.

Chip control is a major problem in automatic machining process, especially in finish turning operation. In this case, chip breaker is one of the important to be determined. As unbroken chips are grown, these deteriorate the surface roughness, and process automation can not be carried out. In this stydy, to get rid of chip curling problem while turning internal hole, optimal chip breaker is selected from the experiment. The experiment is planned with Taguchi's method that is based on the orthogonal arrary of design factors. From the response table, cutting speed, feedrate, depth of cut, and tool geometry turn to be major factors affecting chip formation. Then, optimal chip breaker is selected, and this is verified as good enough for chip control from the experiment.
