Sleep Disorder in Tinnitus Patients

Background and Objectives One of the most common complaint of tinnitus patients hasbeen sleep disorder. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between sleep disorderand tinnitus. Subjects and Method Patients with tinnitus from July 2018 till August 2019 were enrolled. Subjects who had any acute/chronic disease in the inner and middle ear or external auditorycanal, sleep apnea and had more than 3 caffeinated beverages a day was excluded. Study participantscompleted Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), the tinnitus symptom questionnaire,tinnitus handicap inventory (THI), Pittsburg Sleep Quality Inventory (PSQI), pure tone audiometry,a full otologic examination and an interview on past medical history. Results THI was correlated with PSQI global score and BDI. The PSQI subscale most relevantto THI was PSQI 1 (subjective sleep quality). Hearing impairment was correlated withthe THI functional subscale. BDI was individually related to PSQI. Conclusion Tinnitus is found to be highly related to sleep disorder, suggesting a commonpathway of aggravation and treatment target. Tinnitus is also more affected by sleep disorderthan by depression. A further examination and treatment of comorbid sleep disorder in tinnituspatients is recommended.

Astaxanthin is one of the most powerful antioxidants among carotenoids and it has strong antioxidant property. Haematococcus pluvialis is the richest natural source of astaxanthin. However, an inefficient astaxanthin extraction step in the downstream process are still obstacles to the economical production of natural astaxanthin in H. pluvialis, because of its thick and chemical-resistance cell wall. Therefore, an inefficient astaxanthin extraction step hampered by the thick cell wall of the aplanospore (matured red cyst) in H. pluvialis was highly improved via the control of germination using the two factors, nitrate and light. To enhance the extraction efficiency, a slow rate of germination leads to a high maintenance of astaxanthin content in cells during the initial stage of germination. This pre-treatment method utilizing biological mechanism is eco-friendly extraction because only use natural sunlight and nitrogen source are used and will improve astaxanthin productivity.
Efficient and economical flue gas treatment by using scale-up bubble column reactor

Microalgae have a great potentiality for CO<sub>2</sub> fixation system by using their great capacity of photosynthesis. There are two types of culture system : open pond and closed reactor system. Closed reactor system has the advantage of high productivity and prevention of contamination. These closed photobioreactors are consist of vertical column reactors with CO<sub>2</sub>-enriched flue gas which is injected at the bottom of the column. In this study, 100L scale bubble column reactor was designed, considering type of sparger, H/D ratio of each column, KL, gas flow rate, effect of shear stress, and growth profiles. These bubble column reactors had achieved good growth of microalgae and showed efficient and economical flue gas treatment.

The purpose of this study is to test the mediating effect of social atrophy on the effect of parent-child communication on school adjustment among children using local children's centers. For this purpose, regression and mediation analysis models were tested using data from the 6th grade of the 3rd panel data year (2020) of the Regional Children's Center Child Panel Survey. The results showed that parent-child communication time was positively related to school adjustment among children using community children's centers, and social withdrawal had a significant mediating effect on the relationship between school adjustment and parent-child communication. Based on these results, it is suggested that parental education for positive communication can help children overcome school adjustment problems.

With the increased understanding of the global warming, the importance of the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology in preventing the release of CO2 became more apparent. In this study, we are looking into microalgae using CCS and its biodiesel conversion. The production of biodiesel from the microalgae biomass is promising work because of its environment-friendly stages. It uses daylight and flue gas, generated by burning of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and containing CO2, NOx, and SOx. Chlorella sorokiniana UTEX 2805 was selected to cultivate in outdoor flue gas emission source. The strain has high resistance to high temperature and grows when supplied with flue gas. Particularly, it shows a noticeable lipid accumulation without N source in summer. Due to its heat-tolerance, Chlorella sorokiniana is a prospective microalgae strain that can greatly contribute to the advance of the biodiesel production.
