Characterized moisture management properties of high performance shirt fabrics were assessed using demand wettability test and discussed in relation to the subjective moisture sensation and surface coolness. Four kinds of climbing shirt fabrics were selected: cotton, regular polyester, high performance polyester, and high performance polyester and polypropylene blend fabrics. Four shirt fabrics showed characterized absorption behaviors, which resulted in different patterns of moisture sensations and finally the final end use functions. Different mechanisms of liquid water transport due to their different fiber contents and construction more clearly affect the moisture perception, such as wet, clammy, and sticky, as well as absorption behaviors. However, the engineered PET fibers for high performance did not provide significant advantage to the subjective moisture sensations. The level of sweat pulse had a great influence on subjective moisture discrimination associated with the moisture perception.

Most apparel products have national standards for sizing; however, for gloves, national sizing standards have not yet been established. This study aims to analyze children's hand dimensions and propose a size specification for children's gloves that shows children's hand-related size information. Among the 3D measurements of sixth Size Korea Project, the measurement data of 19 dimensions related to the hands of 1,057 boys and girls aged 7-13 years old were analyzed. The distribution and growth trend of hand measurements for boys and girls demonstrated considerable mean differences and distribution trends by gender and age as per hand dimensions, which leads to the conclusion that it is necessary to show these results in the children's glove design. Based on these results, the cross-distribution maps of children's hand length and hand circumference were drafted; furthermore, the distribution relationship with an adult hand size was identified. Based on the distribution of hand sizes, the distribution of adult hand sizes overlapped with children's hand sizes was verified, and children's glove size specifications were presented. The results can be used as useful data such as measures for setting the size range and sizing system for children's gloves.

Today, functional gloves must allow the wearer to perform many kinds of delicate work while protecting the hands from hazardous materials. In this study, multiple analyses of 3D hand measurements were performed to provide information on the hand size and shape required for the design of functional gloves for adult men. Size and shape characteristics were identified from 19 different hand measurements, and three factors were collected through factor analysis. The aggregated factor score was used to classify men's hand shapes into three types. These types showed different distribution patterns according to age, indicating a significant distribution difference between hand type and age group. Discriminant analysis extracted nine items that highly contributed to determining hand type. However, since the data provided by Size Korea have some limitations in fully representing hand shape, sampling additional types of hand measurements and using consistent conditions and methods are required for more accurate analysis.

The demand for coverall-type protective clothing are increasing in many industrial fields; however, it is impossible to evaluate the wearers`` apparel fit because there is no commercialized pattern in the market. This study produces a manual for the process of acquiring patterns by separating PPE products into pieces to provide information on acquiring patterns. The analysis was on coverall-type non woven protective clothing in the domestic market, and 4 panels examined the validity, reliability, and efficiency of various possible methods on each step of process. Five steps were conducted to acquire patterns removing wrinkles, marking seams lines, separating seams, and pattern completing. The process of converting these into pattern files was designed through three procedures of digitizing, editing, and exporting and detailed stages. Fitting tests were undertaken, real patterns by actual modeling and pattern files by virtual modeling; all showed similar forms with outfits wearing ready-made protective coveralls. This study sought the most efficient and objective method of virtual modeling and proposed it as a manual. It is expected for the pattern reversedesigning manual through products analysis presented in this study that would be a helpful addition of information to the pattern tracing of pattern-less clothing products.

To predict and foster professional research issues for the present and future, it is important to understand the stream of research trends. This study is to provide information of research trend through analysis of quantitative variables in 1,374 articles from the first issue to the present(2015) of the Fashion and Textiles Research Journal. As a result, in the former periods, articles in the field of textile science & technology and fashion design & historical concerns, and articles that used experiments and others as a research method were dominant; in the latter periods, articles in the field of fashion marketing & merchandising and apparel production & technology, and articles that used survey as a research method were dominant. According to each detailed research field and method, there were significant differences in the number of pages, authors and references of articles. In addition, it was found that the number of pages and the number of references increased sharply in the latter period, indicating that the contents of the papers were more detailed and faithful to references of other studies. Through the analysis of this study, it was found that Fashion and Textiles Research Journal published a variety of articles in the academic fields. The research information analyzed in this study will contribute to the future design for the research as well as the academic societies.

The sizing system for Korean Standard of Disposable Protective Coveralls (DPC) uses the ISO sizing system without modification even though the user suitability for Koreans is unverified. This study provides useful information to improve the size standard of Korean DPC by analyzing measurement DPC data from Korean men and women. The distribution of Korean measurements shows that the size sections were unsuitable for Korean men and women for a protective clothing size standard. Body types were categorized into five types based on a cluster analysis of representative men`s and women`s measurement factors. Two clusters mostly consisted of men, two other clusters mostly consisted of women, and the other cluster relatively evenly consisted of men and women. Therefore, characteristic body measurements and measurement distribution differences were identifiable for men and women. In conclusion, an unmodified ISO protective clothing size standard is unsuitable for Korean men and women and may cause fit problems. This study shows that a Korean Standard of protective clothing is beneficial for protective clothing manufacturers and wearers if smaller size intervals are added for women and the difference in the distribution of men and women is reflected in the current sizing system. ISO is appropriate to use a Korean Standard in this global era, however, it should be reviewed to provide improved Korean data.
