지식채널 ⓔ를 활용한 환경교육 프로그램 개발 및 효과 분석

본 연구는 초등학교 5학년 학생을 대상으로 지식채널 ⓔ를 활용한 환경교육 프로그램을 개발, 적용하여 초등학생의 환경친화적 태도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 알아봄으로써, 지식채널 ⓔ를 활용한 환경교육의 교육적 가치를 검증하기 위하여 수행하였다. 프로그램 개발을 위해 2007 개정교육과정 5학년 교과서와 문헌연구 고찰을 통하여 지식채널 ⓔ를 활용한 환경교육 주제를 선정하였다. 그리고 개발된 프로그램은 서울시 소재 초등학교 5학년 2개 학급을 연구 대상으로 동질통제집단 전, 후 검사설계를 통하여 18차시에 걸쳐 수업을 적용하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학교 5학년 2007 개정교육과정의 교과서와 지도서를 중심으로 환경교육 관련 내용을 찾고, 환경관련 70편의 지식채널 ⓔ 영상을 모니터링하여 환경관련 단원에 투여할 수 있는 가장 효과적인 지식채널 영상을 분류하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 환경친화적 태도를 함양할 수 있는 총 18차시의 환경교육 프로그램을 개발하였다. 둘째, 지식채널 ⓔ를 활용한 환경교육이 교과서를 활용한 전통적 환경수업에 비해 초등학생의 환경친화적 태도 함양에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 실험집단을 대상으로 환경문제에 대한 관심도, 지식채널 ⓔ의 효과와 지식채널 ⓔ를 활용한 환경문제에 대한 학습욕구를 알아보기 위한 사전, 사후검사 결과 모두 영역에서 지식채널 ⓔ를 활용한 환경수업 후의 긍정적 응답률이 높아졌다. 이를 통해 지식채널 ⓔ를 활용한 환경수업이 환경학습에 대한 관심과 학습욕구를 높이는 것으로 확인할 수 있었다. 결론적으로 지식채널 ⓔ를 활용한 환경교육은 초등학교 학교현장에 적용 가능하며, 다양한 환경교육 방법이 요구되는 시점에서 하나의 대안으로 그 가치가 크다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 환경교육 현장에서 지식채널 ⓔ를 활용하는 다양한 방안을 모색하는 심층적인 연구와 체계적인 교수·학습 활동에 대한 후속 연구가 필요한 것으로 사료된다. The purpose of this study is to develop and investigate the effects of an environmental education program based on ‘knowledge Channel ⓔ’. To achieve the purpose, documentary and investigatory research was conducted and thereafter the program was developed and implemented by following the 4 stage of planning, development, field test and evaluation. Forty-four students of 5th grade elementary school were enrolled in this study. The learning before and after, their pro-environmental attitudes were investigated to evaluate the program. The results of this study were as follows. First, 70 programs among the 790 ‘knowledge Channel ⓔ’ video programs which were aired between September 2005 and March 2012 selected as the study by Lee & Lee(2013) were analyzed by criterion of environmental area and content analysis(Choi, 1992 and Lee, 2011). These programs are related to ‘natural environment’, ‘artificial environment’, ‘population’, ‘industrialization and urbanization’, ‘resources’, ‘environmental pollution’, ‘ environmental conservation and protection’, ‘environmental hygiene’, ‘environmental ethics’, and ‘healthy consumer’. And the text and guidebooks revised curriculum of 5th grade students in 2007 were analyzed by the same analysis criteria. Based on these materials, total 18 environmental educational programs were developed to foster pro-environment attitudes of elementary students. Second, the environmental education program based on ‘Knowledge Channel ⓔ’ had a positive effect on the environmental concerns and needs for learning of environmental problems. And this program showed the significant differences on the pro-environmental attitudes with each 3 subdomain of verbal commitment, actual commitment, affect. Third, this program had a positive correlation(from .509 to .691) among the 3 subdomains. So, the students who hold verbal commitment showed good effect on the actual commitment and affect In conclusions, the environmental education program based on ‘knowledge Channel ⓔ’ had a positive effect on pro-environmental attitudes of elementary school students. It is demanded that more intensive research on this study should be done, linking with teaching and learning method, as a follow-up activity.
