In this paper, a study is conducted on the acceptable tolerance of an alignment device to reduce the optical loss caused by the alignment tolerance ofa window hermetic optical connector. To increase the transmission distance of optical signals and fiber-optic communication systems, it is necessary to maintain and improve the high optical efficiency of the connectors used to bond optical fibers. In the case of the window hermetic optical connector, the optical system is aligned through an alignment device. At this time, since the two connectors are used together, each component is fixed, andfurther alignment is impossible. The alignment tolerance of the housing system and pin used to align the optical system of the connector causesoptical loss, leading to serious problems in the fiber-optic communication system. Thus, to find the acceptable tolerance required for manufacturingthe optical-connector alignment device, tolerance analysis is performed on the components of the optical connector, such as the ball lens and the window. We also implement single-mode and multimode optical-connector systems, respectively. Based on the results, we determine an acceptable tolerance value for the alignment device.

We studied the morphological, optical, electrical, and photoresponse properties of ZnO thin films grown by using the sol-gel spin-coating method on Zn buffer layers oxidized at different temperatures ranging from 300 to 600 °C. With increasing the oxidation temperature, the surface morphology changed from granular to a cluster of aggregates. In the photoluminescence spectra, the highest ratio of the intensities of the near-band-edge to the deep-level emission and the lowest value of the full width at half maximum were observed at an oxidation temperature of 300 °C. The ZnO thin film grown on the Zn buffer layer oxidized at a temperature of 300 °C showed the highest values of transmittance in the visible region. The optical band gap was blue-shifted with decreasing oxidation temperature from 400 to 300 °C, and the lowest Urbach energy was observed at an oxidation temperature of 300 °C. In the study of the photoresponse properties, the fastest response/recovery rate and the highest photosensitivity were obtained for the sample prepared at an oxidation temperature of 300 °C.

This study investigated the effect of precursor concentration on both the morphology and the structural, optical, and photoresponse properties of zinc-oxide (ZnO) nanorods when using a ZnO seed layer formed by using the electro-oxidation method. The ZnO nanorods were grown on the ZnO seed layer at various precursor concentrations. Field-emission scanning electron microscopy images revealed that most ZnO nanorods showed a pyramid-like top surface; however, those grown at a concentration of 40 mM showed a flat top surface. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the ZnO nanorods showed an improvement in orientation along the c-axis direction with increasing precursor concentration. Photoluminescence spectra showed that the full width at half maximum values of the near-band-edge emission peak and the ratio of the near-band-edge emission peak to the deep-level emission peak increased and decreased, respectively, with increasing precursor concentration, indicating the occurrence of many defects in the ZnO nanorods. In terms of the photoresponse properties, ZnO nanorods grown at a precursor concentration of 20 mM showed the highest responsivity.
수술용 장갑을 사용하여 제거한 날카로운 식도 이물 1예

Foreign bodies with a sharp margin in the esophagus are often associated with serious complications, such as bleeding, perforation and mediastinitis in the middle of endoscopic removal, as well as impaction in the esophagus wall. Therefore, safe extraction for such patients is essential. The techniques that are performed with an endoscope have been designed with using a protector hood and overtube. Yet the former is not available in Korea, and the later is uncomfortable and limited in diameter. Press-through-packs (PTPs) are commonly used as a package for drugs and they also usually cause esophageal impaction because they have sharp edges. We report here on a case of an impacted PTP in the upper esophagus, and this was successfully extracted endoscopically with using a surgical glove, which is a better safe alternative to above mentioned removal items. 식도의 예리한 이물은 압박에 의해 합병증이 발생할 수 있지만, 내시경으로 제거하는 과정 중에도 출혈, 천공 등 심각한 합병증이 발생할 수 있다. 따라서 안전하게 제거하는 것이 필수적이며 이러한 방법으로 지금까지 overtube, protector hood 등이 사용되어 왔다. Press-through-pack (PTP)은 약 포장 재료로 흔히 사용되는 것으로 날카로운 모서리로 인해 제거에 세심한 주의가 필요하다. 저자들은 상부 식도에 걸린 PTP를 수술용 장갑을 사용하여 기존의 보고와는 다른 방식으로 안전하게 제거한 1예를 문헌 고찰과함께 보고한다.
