        Development of wrinkled skin-on-a-chip (WSOC) by cyclic uniaxial stretching

        The skin experiences constant physical stimuli, such as stretching. Exposure to excessive physical stimuli stresses the skin and can accelerate aging. In this study, we applied a method that allowed human fibroblasts and keratinocytes to be perfused with media to form 3D skin equivalents that were then uniaxially 10%-stretched for 12 h per day (at either 0.01 or 0.05 Hz) for up to 7 days to form wrinkled skin-on-a-chip (WSOC). There was more wrinkling seen in skin equivalents under 0.01 Hz uniaxial stretching than there was for non-stretched skin equivalents. At 0.05 Hz, the stratum corneum almost disappeared from the skin equivalents, indicating that stretching was harmful for the epidermis. At both frequencies, the production of collagen and related proteins in the skin equivalents, such as fibronectin 10 and keratin, decreased more than those in the non-stretched equivalents, indicating that the dermis also suffered from the repeated tensile stress. These results suggest that WSOCs can be used to examine skin aging and as an in vitro tool to evaluate the efficacy of anti-wrinkle cosmetics and medicines.

        니트로글리세린의 이동과 안정제(DPA, ECL)에 의한 소진탄피 저장수명 연구

        It is well known that nitroglycerin(NG) may evaporate and migrate from the triple base propellant grains in storage. This physical process makes it double base environment to the CCC(combustible cartridge case) which is based on nitrocellulose(NC) without NG. Meanwhile, it is not appropriate to use diphenylamine(DPA) as a stabilizer for CCC in this double base environment because of incompatibility between DPA and NG. So we estimated the shelf life to study the effect of NG migration from propellant to CCC by following the procedures in the STANAG 4257. And we found out that CCC with ethylcentralite(ECL) has 7.5 years longer shelf life than with DPA, when NG migrates to CCC from triple base propellant grains.

        Long-term rivaroxaban for the treatment of acute venous thromboembolism in patients with active cancer in a prospective multicenter trial

        Background/Aims: Limited data are available regarding the efficacy of rivaroxaban for the treatment of cancer-associated venous thromboembolism (VTE). The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of rivaroxaban for the treatment of VTE in active cancer patients. Methods: In this prospective, multicenter, open-label trial (NCT01989845), we enrolled patients with active cancer and objectively diagnosed lower-extremity deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism (PE), or both from November 2013 to June 2016. Active cancer was defined as a histologically confirmed malignancy, which was diagnosed or treated within the previous 6 months, or as a recurrent/ metastatic cancer. Patients received oral rivaroxaban 15 mg twice daily for first 3 weeks, followed by 20 mg once daily for 6 months. The primary outcome was the symptomatic recurrent VTE and the secondary outcomes included any recurrent VTE, major or clinically relevant non-major (CRNM) bleeding events, and overall mortality. All study outcomes were validated by blinded central adjudication. Results: Of 124 patients enrolled, 110 (88.7%) had solid cancer, 93 (75.0%) had metastatic disease, and 110 (88.7%) were receiving chemotherapy or radiotherapy. During the 6-month study period, seven patients experienced symptomatic recurrent VTE (cumulative incidence, 5.9%), and two patients experienced incidental recurrent PE (cumulative incidence of any recurrent VTE, 7.6%). Major bleeding events occurred in six patients (cumulative incidence, 5.3%) and CRNM bleeding events in 11 patients (cumulative incidence, 10.2%). Twenty-eight patients (overall mortality, 24.0%) died. Conclusions: Rivaroxaban is effective and safe for the treatment of VTE in patients with active cancer.

        두개내 병소을 가진 환자의 위장관출혈에 관하여

        "Stress ulceration" of the stomach and duodenum is a nonspecific term used to cover a wide variety of different entities. It has been known for many years that there is an association between gastrointestinal bleeding and intracranial lesion. This is not a common clinical problem, but it has been noted to be increasing over the recent years, possibly due to the increased survival of severe injured neurosurgical patients and neurosurgical procedures. Clinically recongnition of gastrointestinal bleeding or ulceration can be difficult, particularly in the unconscious patient and prevention of this complication has not been successful. The treatment of that has been the subject of considerable controversy. Prognosis depends on a prevention of hemorrhagic shock or sepsis and promptly proper mangement. The authors analyzed the 21 cases of massive gastrointestinal bleeding in neurosurgical patients, who were admitted to the department of neurosurgery of National Medical Center from 1978 to 1980.

        척추 수술 후 병발한 Aseptic Spondylitis

        We must once consider spondylitis, if the patient complains of severe back pain and back muscle spasm following a more or less improvement after disk surgery. The etiology of these postoperative complications is not well understood in suspected cases of spondylitis, but the most likely causes reveals to be low grade infection, aseptic necrosis and pyogenic infection etc. Conservative treatment with complete bed rest and antibiotics led to satisfactory results in. major cases, but there is no improvement in spite of application strong antibiotics and muscle relaxant in some cases. In later cases, we got the good results with immediate pain relieve and reducing hospital day by anterior interbody fusion. So we report 4 cases of aseptic spondylitis with review of literature.

      • 이중 정지 기준을 사용한 저 전력 터보 디코더 설계 기술

        최근 3세대 이동통신의 오류정정부호의 표준으로 채택된 터보 코드는 샤논의 한계에 가까운 성능을 보이며, 반복적인 디코딩 과정의 특성상 이동통신 시스템에서 전력 소모가 많은 블록 중 하나이다. 따라서 이동통신 기기의 전력 소모를 최소화하기 위한 노력으로 터보 디코더의 전력 소모를 줄이는 방법들에 대한 연구가 진행되어왔다. 본 논문에서는 디코딩 가능 임계값과 불가능 임계값 등 두개의 정지 기준을 적용함으로써 기존의 반복 디코딩 정지 기준 알고리즘을 개선하여, 오류정정 성능과 전력 소모면에서 기존의 방법보다 효율적인 새로운 터보 디코더 기술을 개발하였다. 실험 결과, 제안한 방법은 기존의 대표적인 방법에 비하여, 전체 12500회 실험 중 잘못된 오류정정 횟수는 평균적으로 89% 감소시키고 반복 디코딩 횟수는 29% 감소시킬 수 있었다. Turbo codes, whose performance in bit error rate is close to the Shannon limit, have been adopted as a part of standard for the third-generation high-speed wireless data services. Iterative Turbo decoding results in decoding delay and high power consumption. As wireless communication systems can only use limited power supply, low power design techniques are essential for mobile device implementation. This paper proposes new effective criteria for stopping the iteration process in turbo decoding to reduce power consumption. By setting two stopping criteria, decodable threshold and undecodable threshold, we can effectively reduce the number of decoding iterations with only negligible error-correcting performance degradation. Simulation results show that the number of unsuccessful error-correction can be reduced by 89% and the number of decoding iterations can be reduced by 29% on the average among 12500 simulations when compared with those of an existing typical method.

      • K677 추진장약 잔유물 최소화를 위한 품질개선

        155MM 추진장약 K677은 ▲▲년부터 ○○년까지 ★★투자 · □□□□연구소 주관으로 개발되었으며 현재 ㈜◇◇에서 생산 중에 있다. 추진장약 K677은 K9자주포에 적용하는 탄약으로 사용자가 155MM 탄두(projectiles)를 목표지점으로 비행시키기 위해 사용된다. 본 연구는 육군 ■■■포병대대에서 K9 자주포 사격 중 약실 내에서 식별된 잔유물에 대해 후속사격 영향성을 확인하고 나아가 잔유물 발생 최소화를 위한 품질개선을 진행한 내용이다. 잔유물이 발생된 자주포 약실 내, 특히 밀폐링에 흡착된 잔유물 성분을 분석한 결과 추진장약 라이너의 구성성분 중 하나임을 확인하였다. 따라서, 라이너의 형상, 크기, 함량 등 개선해야 할 필요성이 제기되었으며, Wear Reducing Agents로 사용되는 라이너는 포신의 침식수명(침식당량, EFC)에 영향을 미치는 요소 중 하나이므로 침식당량의 변경도 고려하여야 한다. 잔유물 발생 최소화를 위한 라이너의 최적 형상을 찾기 위해 5가지 형상을 선별하여, 사격시험을 통해 약실 내 잔유물 발생 정도를 비교하고 1가지 형상을 최종 선정하였다. 선정된 라이너로 구성된 추진장약으로 사격 시 침식당량 값이 바뀔 수 있어, 침식당량을 산출하기 위한 사격시험 또한 추가 진행되었다. 이러한 시험 결과를 바탕으로, 사격간 잔유물이 지속적으로 축적되거나 후속탄에 영향을 주는 요인이 아닌 것으로 확인되었으나, 사용자의 심리적 안정감 부여 등을 위해 형상통제(기술변경)심의 및 품질개선을 완료하였다.
