        강자성 표적 탐지를 위한 드론 기반 자기 이상 탐지

        Drone based Magnetic Anomaly Detection measure a magnetic anomaly signal from the ferromagnetic target on the ground. We conduct a magnetic anomaly detection with 9 ferromagnetic targets on the ground. By removing the magnetic field measured in the absence of ferromagnetic targets from the experimental value, the magnetic anomaly signal is clearly measured at an altitude of 100 m. We analyze the signal characteristics by the ferromagnetic target through simulation using COMSOL multiphysics. The simulation results are within the GPS error range of the experimental results.

        Activation and Deactivation of Gene Expression by Ca2+/Calcineurin-NFAT-mediated Signaling

        Ca2+/calcineurin-NFAT-mediated signaling pathways are involved in diverse cellular reactions by regulating gene expression either positively or negatively. The transcriptional activity of NFAT proteins can be either activating or deactivating depending on which binding partners are involved. Interaction of NFAT with AP-1 turns on the genes involved in active immune responses, while NFAT without cooperative binding of AP-1 turns on a T cell anergy program and blocks T cell activation and proliferation. In addition, interaction of NFAT with histone deacetylase (HDAC) proteins induces gene silencing. In this review we focus on the dual function, activator or deactivator, of NFAT and the binding partners that determine the role of NFAT in gene expression.

        $(Pb, Nd)(Ti, Mn)O_3$ 세라믹의 유전 및 압전특성

        Dielectric and piezoelectric properties of (Pb1-1.5xLnx)(Ti0.98Mn0.02)O3 ceramics with x=0~0.2 have been investigated. Pb(Ti0.98Mn0.02)O3 showed poor sinterability and cracking on cooling, but the substitution of Nd3+ ions into Pb2+ sites resulted in dense microstructures without cracking through reducing crystallographic anisotropy. The Nd3+ substitution, however, deteriorated the temperature stability of the piezoelectric properties because of lowering the Curie point. Electromechanical anisotropy(Kt/Kp) indicated a maximum value of 10 when x=0.1. This result might be attributed to the counteracting effects that with increasing x, the lattice anisotropy decreases while the poling becomes easier due to the increase in O2- vacancy concentration. Thickness-shear mode resonators with (Pb0.85Nd0.1)(Ti0.98Mn0.02)O3 composition showed good resonant characteristics around 4.5 MHz.

        Immune Disorders and Its Correlation with Gut Microbiome

        Allergic disorders such as atopic dermatitis and asthma are common hyper-immune disorders in industrialized countries. Along with genetic association, environmental factors and gut microbiota have been suggested as major triggering factors for the development of atopic dermatitis. Numerous studies support the association of hygiene hypothesis in allergic immune disorders that a lack of early childhood exposure to diverse microorganism increases susceptibility to allergic diseases. Among the symbiotic microorganisms (e.g. gut flora or probiotics), probiotics confer health benefits through multiple action mechanisms including modification of immune response in gut associated lymphoid tissue (GALT). Although many human clinical trials and mouse studies demonstrated the beneficial effects of probiotics in diverse immune disorders, this effect is strain specific and needs to apply specific probiotics for specific allergic diseases. Herein,we briefly review the diverse functions and regulation mechanisms of probiotics in diverse disorders.

        프로바이오틱스를 이용한 알레르기 질환 제어

        Allergic disorders such as atopic dermatitis and asthma are common hyperimmune disorders in industrialized countries. Although the exact etiology is unclear, several factors may trigger the disease onset. These include susceptible genetic background, environmental factors and an aberrant gut microbiota with a shift of the Th1/Th2 balance towards a Th2 response. Probiotics confer health benefits through multiple action mechanisms including modification of immune system in both systemic immune system and gut associated lymphoid tissue. Although many human clinical trials and mouse studies demonstrated the beneficial effects of probiotics in diverse allergic disorders, therapeutic efficacy is quite diverse depending on administration dose and types of strains or their mixture. To properly modulate allergic diseases, administration of tailor made probiotics with immune tolerance activity is required. Human clinical trials demonstrate a limited benefit of probiotics in atopic dermatitis in a preventive as well as a therapeutic capacity. In addition, beneficial effect of probiotics treatment is limited in the treatment of bronchial asthma. Identification of specific probiotics that has immune modulating activity and elucidation of the underlying mechanism of action will lead to develop probiotics as an as immune modulator targeting allergic disorders. Herein, we briefly review the diverse functions and regulation mechanisms of probiotics in allergic disorders including atopic dermatitis and asthma.

        Molecular Mechanisms Governing IL-24 Gene Expression

        Interleukin-24 (IL-24) belongs to the IL-10 family of cytokines and is well known for its tumor suppressor activity. This cytokine is released by both immune and nonimmune cells and acts on non-hematopoietic tissues such as skin, lung and reproductive tissues. Apart from its ubiquitous tumor suppressor function, IL-24 is also known to be involved in the immunopathology of autoimmune diseases like psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis. Although the cellular sources and functions of IL-24 are being increasingly investigated, the molecular mechanisms of IL-24 gene expression at the levels of signal transduction, epigenetics and transcription factor binding are still unclear. Understanding the specific molecular events that regulate the production of IL-24 will help to answer the remaining questions that are important for the design of new strategies of immune intervention involving IL-24. Herein, we briefly review the signaling pathways and transcription factors that facilitate, induce, or repress production of this cytokine along with the cellular sources and functions of IL-24.

        탁리소독음(托裏消毒飮) 함유 외용제의 아토피 피부염에 대한 임상적 연구

        Purposes : The purpose of present study is to detect the effects of ointment contained Takrisodok-Eum on the skin barrier's recovery of the Atopic dermatitis. Methods : A total of 44 patients who visited Semyung Oriental Medical Center from April 27th, 2011 to September 20th, 2011 were included in the study. In this study, the patients were treated with Takrisodok-Eum (experimental group) and positive control group. For 8 weeks of gross examination, hematological examination and instrumental asessment were made before and after the study to examine how well the products for experimental group with those for control group in recovering the damaged skin barriers by Atopic dermatitis. Results : 1. In the primary endpoint, SCORAD Index showed a statistically significant decline in experimental group. 2. In the secondary endpoint index of skin hydration, both the experimental group and the control group showed statistical significance. 3. In the secondary endpoint index of TEWL, the experimental group showed greater statistical significance than the control group. 4. In the secondary endpoint index of skin pH, skin pH showed a statistically significant decline in both the control group and the experimental group within the normal range. 5. In the secondary endpoint index of Total IgE, Eosinophil count, IL-10, IL-13, both the experimental group and the control group showed no statistical significance. 6. To evaluate the safety of the products for the human body, hematological examination and hematological biochemical examination, vital sign check were conducted; both control group and experimental group showed no abnormal level. And There were no severe adverse events during this study. Therefore, it is suggested that the safety of the products, if used for certain period, should be safe for the human body. Conclusions : According to the above experiments, it is suggested that Takrisodok-Eum should be effective for the Atopic dermatitis.

        Fabrication of High-purity Rb Vapor Cell for Electric Field Sensing

        In this paper, we introduce our system for manufacturing a Rb vapor cell and describe its fabrication process in a sequence of removing impurities, cold trapping, and sealing off. Saturated absorption spectroscopy was performed to verify the quality of our cell by comparing it to that of a commercial one. By using the lab-fabricated Rb vapor cell, we observed electromagnetically induced transparency in a ladder-type system corresponding to the 5S 1/2 -5P 3/2 -28D 5/2 transition of the 85 Rb atom. A highly excited Rydberg atomic system was prepared using two counter-propagating external cavity diode lasers with wavelengths of 780 nm and 480 nm. We also observed the Autler-Townes splitting signal while a radiofrequency source around 100 GHz incidents into the Rydberg atomic medium.
