        초등학생 영어 다독 교재의 주석 위치가 영어 읽기 능력에 미치는 영향1

        This study investigated the effects of different gloss locations in extensive reading readers on English reading abilities of elementary students. It examined four groups of sixth graders in an elementary school and an extensive reading class was conducted over sixteen weeks. The four groups were given graded readers with four different types of glosses, such as non-gloss, marginal gloss, footnote gloss, and endnote gloss. To verify the effects of this experiment, pre- and post-reading ability test for the cognitive domain and pre- and post-questionnaire for the affective domain were administered to see if there were any achievement in reading ability and affective domain. The findings were as follows: (1) The four groups showed improvement in the reading ability tests. This result indicates that extensive reading was effective in improving students' reading ability; (2) The footnote gloss group showed the greatest change. This result indicates that footnote glosses influenced the most in improving students' reading ability; (3) All the groups showed positive results in the affective domain including attitude, self-confidence, interest, expectation, and value. In conclusion, extensive reading made a positive effect on all four groups and footnote glosses proved to be the most effective in both cognitive and affective domain.

        아동상담자의 자기 돌봄 체험에 관한 질적 연구

        This study aims to help child counselors reveal their self-care experience as it is, and realize the meaning of self-care and actually put it into practice by understanding the meaning of what they have experienced, ultimately increasing the quality of child counseling. To accomplish such goals, research questions were established as follows; What are the self-care experience of child counselors and what it means? Among qualitative research methods, this study adopted phenomenological research methodology, and collected data from in-depth interviews with five child counselors to explore the essential meaning of self-care experience of child counselors. The research results show that four themes were extracted; ‘difficulty of self-care’, ‘self-care in everyday life’, ‘self-care as experts’ and ‘continuous self-care for growth’, particularly as essential themes for self-care experience of child counselors. Through these themes, the meaning of self-care experience of child counselors was concluded as ‘a process of finding an appropriate and healthy equilibrium in self-care by recognizing alienation of oneself from their own self and guiding the direction of self-care from others to oneself. The significances of this study can be summarized as follows; Firstly, it substantially revealed self-care experience of child counselors, which is not easy to disclose in quantitative research. Secondly, it exposed what difficulties child counselors have in self-care and stated what they need. Thirdly, it provided basic data that child counselors can effectively use when developing self-care programs. Lastly, it specified the limitations of this study and follow-up study proposals. 이번 연구의 목적은 아동상담자들의 자기 돌봄(self-care) 체험을 생생히 드러내고, 그 체험의 의미를 이해하여 아동상담자들이 자기 돌봄의 의미를 성찰하고 실제로 자기 돌봄을 실천하는 데 도움을 줌으로써 궁극적으로 아동 상담의 질을 높이는 데 있다. 이러한 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해 설정된 연구 문제는 “아동상담자들의 자기 돌봄 체험은 어떠하며, 그 의미는 무엇인가?” 이다. 연구자는 질적 연구방법 중 현상학적 연구방법으로 연구를 진행하였으며 아동상담자의 자기 돌봄 체험이 지니는 본질적인 의미를 찾기 위해 아동상담자 5명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 진행하여 자료를 수집하였다. 연구 결과 아동상담자의 자기 돌봄 체험의 본질적인 주제는 ‘낯설고 힘든 자기 돌봄’, ‘일상에서의 자기 돌봄’, ‘전문가로서의 자기 돌봄’, ‘성장을 위한 계속된 자기 돌봄’으로 총 4개가 도출되었다. 이를 통해 아동상담자의 자기 돌봄 체험의 본질적 의미는 ‘나로부터 소외된 나를 깨닫고, 타인에서 나에게로 돌봄의 방향을 조절하여 자기를 돌봄에 있어 적절하고 건강한 균형을 맞추는 과정’으로 귀결되었다. 이번 연구의 의의는 첫째, 양적 연구에서 밝히기 어려운 아동상담자들의 자기 돌봄 체험을 보다 실체적으로 드러냈다는 점이며 둘째, 아동상담자들의 자기 돌봄에 있어 어려움이 무엇인지 드러내고 이에 필요한 부분에 대해 언급했다는 점, 셋째, 아동상담자들의 자기 돌봄 프로그램을 개발하는 데 기초 자료로 유용하게 사용될 수 있다는 데 있다.

        呑虛 宅成의 화엄사상

        본 논문은 근현대 불교계의 대표적인 인물로 손꼽히는 呑虛 宅成(1913~1983) 선사의 화엄사상을 주로 통현 화엄의 수용과 전개에 초점을 맞추어 살펴본 것이다. 탄허 선사는 정통 화엄에서 방계로 치부하는 이통현의 화엄사상을 높이 평가해서 수용하고 있는데, 이 점에 대해서는 아직까지 구체적으로 언급되지 않았다. 이에 탄허 선사의 화엄경관을 살펴본 후에 통현 화엄의 주요 개념이 어떻게 수용되어 전개되었는지에 대해서 고찰하였다. 탄허 선사의 화엄경관은 『화엄경』에 대한 견해와 三周因果와 二種常道로 나누어 볼 수 있다. 먼저 탄허 선사는 『화엄경』의 說時와 교판론에 있어서 이통현의 입장을 수용하지 않았으며, 단지 五時判의 전체적인 구도만을 수용해서 『화엄경』의 수승함을 ‘일승 경전’이라는 표현으로 나타내고 있다. 다음으로 탄허 선사는 계환의 화엄경관을 그대로 수용하고 있는데, 이는 이통현의 三終因果와 二種常道를 수용해서 三周因果와 二種常道로 발전시킨 것이다. 탄허 선사가 수용한 통현 화엄의 주요 개념을 크게 두 측면으로 나누어서 살펴보았다. 통현 화엄의 이론적인 측면을 普光明智와 一眞法界에 배대하고, 실천적인 측면을 三聖圓融과 一乘菩薩道에 배대하였다. 普光明智는 중생과 부처에게 있는 근본 지혜이며, 一眞法界는 비로자나불의 지혜가 발현된 상태를 가리킨다. 이 一眞法界는 三聖이 圓融한 상태로도 표현되는데, 문수의 理와 보현의 行으로서 비로자나법신의 根本智와 差別智의 원융함을 드러낸 것이다. 이러한 一眞法界의 진리를 체득한 자가 중생교화라는 이타행에 적극적으로 참여하는 것을 一乘菩薩道로 파악하였다. 따라서 탄허 선사의 화엄사상은 통현 화엄의 주요 개념을 수용해서 독자적으로 전개된 것으로 이해할 수 있다. This paper aims to examine the Huayan thought of Tanheo Taeksung(1913~1983), one of the representative Buddhist Seon Master in the modern Korea, by focusing embracement and development of Li Tongxuan’s Huayan thought. Seon Master Tanheo highly appraised and embraced Li Tongxuan’s Huayan thought which was regarded as a collateral thought by the mainstream Huayan school in East Asia. Definite reasons have not been clarified yet. For this reason, this study aims to examine Seon Master Tanheo’s perspective on the Huayanjing(華嚴經) and then the study further investigates how the main concepts of Li Tongxuan’s Huayan thought has been accepted and developed. This study intends to find out the reasons why Seon Master Tanheo valued the Huayanjing among many other Buddhist sūtra by examining his perspective on the Huayanjing. First, Tanheo did not accepted Li Tongxuan’s stance in terms of instructions and the theory of doctrinal classification. However, he solely expressed the magnificence of the Huayanjing in sūtra of single vehicle by embracing the overall truth of the doctrinal theory of the five periods. Subsequently, Seon Master Tanheo embraced Jiehuan(戒環)’s perspective on the Huayanjing as it is and Jiehuan accommodated Li Tongxuan’s three kinds of cause and effect, and the two kinds of permanent truth and developed them to the theory of three kinds of cause and effect, and the two kinds of permanent truth. The principal concepts of Tongxuan’s Huayan thought accommodated by Seon Master Tanheo are mainly examined in terms of the two aspects. The theoretical aspect of Tongxuan’s Huayan thought was integrated with the clear knowledge of universal illumination and one true dharmadhātu, and the practical aspect was integrated with the unification of the three sages and the way of single vehicle bodhisattva. The clear knowledge of universal illumination is the fundamental wisdom present in sentient beings and the Buddha. The one true dharmadhātu is the manifested state of Vairochana’s wisdom. This one true dharmadhātu is expressed in fully harmonized state of the three sages, which is that Mañjuśrī’s principle and Samantabhadra’s practice show perfect interpenetration between fundamental wisdom and distinctive wisdom of Vairocanabuddha. The way of single vehicle bodhisattva has been identified to be as the active participation of a person who has mastered the truth of one true dharmadhātu in altruism called instruction and deliverance of sentient beings. Therefore, the Huayan thought of Seon Master Tanheo could be understood as one of theories that has been independently developed by embracing the fundamental concepts of Tongxuan’s Huayan thought.

        Improvement in Anxiety and Pain After Whole Body Whirlpool Hydrotherapy Among Patients With Myofascial Pain Syndrome

        Objective To evaluate the effect of the Whirlpool hydrotherapy on pain and anxiety in chronic myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) patients, compared to the conventional hydrocollator pack therapy.Methods Forty-one subjects who have MPS in the upper trapezius muscles without depression were recruited. The patients were randomly assigned into two groups: the whirlpool therapy group whose bodies were immersed in a whirlpool bath at 34oC—36oC for 30 minutes; the hydrocollator group who took a 30-minute application of a standard hot hydrocollator pack. Patients in both groups received therapy three days a week for 2 weeks and underwent several evaluations at baseline and after treatment. The variables we analyzed during evaluations were as follows: the primary outcome we considered was pain severity using a visual analogue scale. And the secondary outcomes examined included anxiety using the Korean version of the Beck Anxiety Inventory and quality of life (QoL) using the Korean version of the World Health Organization QoL Assessment, Brief Form. All follow-up values were compared with the baseline values.Results The baseline parameters did not show significant differences between two groups. And after 2-week treatment, both groups revealed significant improvement in anxiety levels and QoL, as well as in pain. However, the improvement on pain (p=0.002) and anxiety (p=0.010) was significantly greater in the whirlpool group, compared to the hydrocollator group. Conclusion The whirlpool hydrotherapy can be used as a more effective therapeutic method to reduce pain and anxiety in chronic MPS patients without depression.
