There should be investigated many morphological characteristics for gene conservation of tea plants. Among them they are more important characteristics of new and mature leaves, chemical identities of new leaves, disease and insect resistant, cold tolerance, stem and growth vigorous, flower form, the identity of bud sprout, bud sprout early or late, cutting rate, producted tea quality and taste. Those characteristics of tea plants should be analysed continuously for breeding and preservation of new cultivars.

At harvesting tea plant leaf. moisture of tea leaves was 79.5%, and percentage of banjhi shoot to the total was 77.8, and weight to 100 buds was 29.4g. Tea made after tea rolling during ten min, was less powder and mass than that of other treatment. Tea rolling during ten min, was higher contents of total nitrogen, total amino acid and chlorophyll than that other treatment, but tannin content was lower than other treatment. The content of theanine, glutamic acid and arginine to tea rolling during ten min, had the highest, and the scores of sensory was higher 3~14 point than that of other treatment. Consequently, these results meant that tea during ten min, treatment was considered to be the best tea rolling condition.

Examinated results for bring light on the kinds of slow-release fertilizers are summarized as follows. Among slow-release fertilizers, the yields of the 3rd harvested tea leaves in the T2 treatment was higher 5±3% with values of 306kg/10a than in other slow-release fertilizers treatment(284~300kg/10a), but was lower 2% than in traditional manuring(314kg/10a). The contents of chemical components such as total nitrogen, total amino acid, chlorophyll, vitamin C and free sugar in the slow-release fertilizers except T2 treatment were slightly lower than in traditional manuring. However, the content of tannin and caffeine were slightly higer than in traditional maunring. The contents of theanine, glutamic acid and arginine as a good taste component of gteen tea were higher in the T2 treatment than in the other slow-release fertilizers and traditional maunting. In scoring test, the slow-release fertilizers treatment were not different the traditional manuring significantly. 세물차에서는 완효성비료 중 T2(N_P_K=15_12_15) 처리가 생육이 양호하여 수량이 306kg/10a로 다른처리 284~300kg/10a에 비해 5±3% 수량이 많았으나, 관행시비에 비해서는 2%정도 적었다. T2처리를 제외한 완효성 비료구가 관행시비에 비해 총질소, 총아미노산, 엽록소, 비티민C, 유리당 함량은 약간 감소하나 탄닌과 카페인 함량은 약간 많았다. T2처리구가 다른 완효성 비료구나 단비에 비해 감칠맛 주성분인 theanine, glutamic acid, arginine 함량이 약간 많은 편이었다. 관능평가에서는 완효성 시비구와 단비간에 큰 차이를 볼 수 없었다.

New tea cultivars in Korea or introduced from foreign countries will be protected by International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants(UPOV) because the Korean government was entranced the fiftieth member of the UPOV on Dec, 2001. Royalty of tea new cultirvars will be also protected in Korea. There are many problems for selection of new cultirvars because the standard criterion for selection of new tea cultivars was nor reported until now. This standard criterion of this study could be selected the super new cultivars through the functional test of the organ and quality test of the adaptability. It is expected that the protection of new tea cultivars in Korea will be reserved by the admission of UPOV.
