This paper explores the landscapes of ?virtual bodies/identities? and ?symbolic/linguistic spaces? on the screen, drawing attention to how people have and represent their virtual bodies/identities in virtual spaces, and how such representations and practices induce symbolic conflicts in symbolic/linguistic spaces. In order to address these questions, I first attend to the characteristics of virtual bodies/identities and their spatial implications. Then, after translating the dialectic relations between actual and virtual spaces in terms of Bakhtin?s first/second world and Lacan?s Imaginary/Symbolic world, I turn to how symbolic conflicts take place in symbolic/linguistic spaces on the screen. I argue that the landscapes of virtual bodies/identities and symbolic/linguistic spaces are not socially and culturally neutral, and that virtual spaces need to be perceived not as transcendent or purely technological spaces, but as contested or conflicting spaces. 이 논문은 스크린 위 ‘가상 육체/정체성’과 ‘상징적/언어적 공간’의 경관들을 탐구하며, 특히 사람들이 가상공간에서 그들의 가상 육체/정체성을 갖고 표현하는 방식과, 그러한 재현과 실천이 상징적/언어적 공간에서 상징적 마찰을 유발하는 방식에 관심을 갖는다. 이를 위해, 먼저 가상 육체/정체성의 특징과 그들의 공간적 함의에 주목한다. 그런 다음, 실제와 가상 공간의 변증법적 관계를 바흐친의 첫 번째/두 번째 세계, 그리고 라캉의 상상적/상징적 세계의 식으로 설명한 후, 상징적 마찰이 스크린 위의 상징적/언어적 공간에서 어떻게 발생하는가를 본다. 본 논문은 가상 육체/정체성과 상징적/언어적 공간의 경관은 사회적으로 혹은 문화적으로 중립적이지 않음을, 그리고 가상 공간은 초월적이고 순수하게 기술적인 공간이 아니라, 경쟁적이고 갈등적인 공간으로 인식될 필요가 있음을 주장한다.

Wavelength Assignment Optimization in Uni-Directional WDM Ring

In this paper, we consider wavelength assignment problem (WAP) in Wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) unidirectional optical telecommunication ring networks. We show that, even though WAP on unidirectional ring belongs to NP-hard, WAP can be exactly solvable in real-sized WDM rings for near future demand. To accomplish this, we convert WAP to the vertex coloring problem of the related graph and choose a special integer programming formulation for the vertex coloring problem. We use a column generation technique in a branch-and-price framework for the suggested formulation. We also propose some generic heuristics and do the performance comparison with the suggested optimization algorithm.

Mesoblastic nephroma is an uncommon renal tumor reported in infants but rarely in adults. We describe a case of calcified mesoblastic nephroma occurring in an adult. It is difficult, on the basis of radiologic images, to differentiate between calcified mesoblastic nephroma and calcified renal cell carcinoma. 중배엽성 신종은 신생아에서 흔하지 않게 보고되고 있으며, 성인에서 발생한 경우는 매우 드물다. 저자들은 성인에서 종괴 내부에 석회화를 동반하고 있어 신세포암과 감별이 어려운 중배엽성 신종 1예를 보고하는 바이다.
