이 글은 연애소설의 핵심 테제인 정념(passion)과 죽음 충동(Death drive)이 어떻게 텍스트 안에서 미학적으로 연결되는지를 밝히고, 죽음을 불사하면서 정념에 빠져드는 주체의 집요한 욕망, 죽음 충동을 승화(sublimation)로 대치시키는 모습을 통해 주체란 무엇이며 실재와 관련한 주체의 윤리적 태도는 어떤 것인지 고찰해보고자 한다. 모니카 마론의 『슬픈 짐승』의 주인공인 ‘그녀’는 ‘불치의 사랑’에 온 존재를 투사하면서 실재라고 믿었던 대상을 죽임으로써 차지하고자 한다. 하지만 대상은 결국 ‘주체’의 욕망을 끝내 충족시키지 못하는 결핍의 요소를 보여주고야 만다. 그녀는 도덕이 전달하는 윤리적 명령을 위반하면서까지 불가능성 자체를 마주하려는 향유 의지를 가진 주체로 거듭나면서 독자에게 불가능의 가능성(승화)를 체험하게 한다. 에밀리 브론테의 『폭풍의 언덕』의 주인공 히스클리프 역시 삶과 죽음을 넘어선 어떤 초월적인 힘에 의해 스스로를 상실하는 상태인 아테에 빠져 있는 인물이다. 소설의 시작부터 흔들림 없는 과단성으로 자신의 사랑과 운명을 선택한다는 점을 고려해 볼 때, 그가 극단으로 치닫는 순간까지 집요하게 추구하는 것은 우리의 이해나 동일시의 범주를 넘어 존재하는 정념의 욕망이라는걸 알 수 있다. 죽은 캐서린을 따라가고자 하는 강한 죽음 충동에 외곬으로 파고드는 히스클리프의 모습은 독자를 매혹시키면서 연민과 공포를 불러일으키는 동시 작용을 통해 일상적이고 비속한 삶의 실재적(현실적)이지 않은 가능성을 맛보게 한다. 무엇보다 소설 텍스트 속 주인공의 윤리성은 무엇보다 주인공이 타자의 욕망과 분리된 자신의 욕망을 알고 있으며 그러한 욕망을 죽음 충동에 이르는 차원까지 끈질기게 추구한다는 점에 있다. 오늘 우리사회는 경제사회적 양극화에 노출되며, 동시에 명문대/비명문대로 구분되는 교육양극화의 가속화 현상에 직면한다. 이런 교육양극화의 배경은 우리 사회에 깊게 뿌리 박힌 학벌주의 현상과 밀접히 관련된다. 특히 대학생들은 학벌주의에 직접적으로 노출되어 학벌로부터 커다란 압박감을 받으며 삶의 깊은 좌절감을 맛본다. 이런 측면에서 그들이 경험하는 학벌주의 현상의 구체적 실태를 그들의 입장에서 파악하고 밝히는 것은 학교교육의 정상화에 필수불가결할 것이다. 이 글은 우리 사회에서 학벌주의 현상이 어떻게 형성되어 학생들 삶에 어떤 구체적 영향을 미치는 지와 학벌주의에서 비롯되는 문제점을 검토할 것이며, 이에 토대하여 학벌주의 현상의 극복가능성을 타진 하는데 있다. 이를 위해 먼저, 학벌주의의 형성배경을 검토하고, 학벌주의의 사회적 영향력을 실천적 차원에서 타진한다. 다음으로, 대학생들이 그들 삶의 영역에서 직접 경험하는 학벌주의의 구체적 실태와 문제점을 다룬다. 마지막으로, 학벌주의의 극복가능성을 협력교육 패러다임 형성에서 제안하여 새로운 학교교육의 가능성을 모색한다. Our society is exposed to the economic and social polarization. At the same time, our society is faced with the acceleration of educational polarization (prestigious universities vs non-prestigious universities). This background of this educational polarization is closely related to the phenomenon of Credentialism that is deeply embedded in our society. In particular, the university students in our society are seriously influenced by Credentialism. They are under extreme pressure to go to prestigious universities. The conditions and problems of Credentialism that they are experiencing in their daily lives are indispensable for the normalization of our school education. In this paper, we look for the conditions and problems of Credentialism, on this discussion, explore the possibilities for the overcoming of Credentialism. First, we deal with the background of the formation of Credentialism, also examine the social impact of Credentialism on our society. Subsequently, we reexamine the situations and difficulties of Credentialism that the students are faced with in their daily lives. Finally, we propose a newly cooperative educational paradigm to overcome Credentialism.
