Sociology’s holistic perspective, in which the whole explains the parts and the structure explains the individual, relies heavily on modern science’s mechanical, linear causality of matter. However, today’s science increasingly pays attention to the vitality, energy, and intensity inherent in the material and its complex and irregular flows. This new scientific trend, emphasizing the vitality and relationality of matter, is most consistent with the tradition of monadic sociology originating from Leibniz and Tarde. Their concept of the monad, above all, points to the vitality inherent in the material and is directly related to the idea of affect, a force that creates changes in bodily abilities in relationships. This study examines what theoretical insights Leibniz and Tarde’s monadology provide to the molecular sociology of becoming, which goes beyond the similarity and regularity of social phenomena and focuses on infinitesimal multiple and variable affective, social processes. Specifically, it shows that Leibniz’s ‘perception’ and ‘desire’ and Tarde’s ‘belief’ and ‘desire’ are the non-conscious affective forces that support the material vitality of all monads. Next, this study emphasizes that Leibniz’s idea of the monad as an ‘infinite series of enveloping’ and Tarde’s idea of the monad as an ‘ensemble of mutual possession’ are crucial theoretical grounds for understanding affect in terms of relational power. In addition, it looks at how Leibniz and Tarde’s notions of the monad as a bodily viewpoint work as a bodily force that makes all monads themselves the center of the universe. Furthermore, this study reveals that Leibniz and Tarde’s monadology of infinitesimal difference constitutes the basis for the concept of the virtual and generative power of affect that disturbs the dominant logic of society. Based on these findings, this paper argues that it is not structural categories such as class, race, and gender that produce the behavior of social actors but the infinitesimal and heterogeneous relational force of affect that flows between bodies. It also stresses that the error of structural categorization that erases differences in the body should be corrected by approaching the body not as an essential entity but as an event and process constantly being created.

In spite of many expectations of the deliberative potential of cyberspace, some empirical studies on the nature of virtual interaction show that cyberspace does not necessarily bring to fruition the democratic potential of the public sphere in the sense that online discussions hardly resolve disagreements or build consensus and they end up with flaming so easily. Yet it may be far-fetched to delimitate the democratic implications of online discussion. Whereas the formation of consensus is conceived of as a crucial element of democratic processes in the Habermasian deliberative model of democracy, it is often emphasized that ‘differences’ or ‘disagreement’, rather than ‘consensus’, play more critical roles in the democratic processes. Based on the agonistic model of democracy that underscores the significance of political antagonisms and conflicts in the expansion of the democratic process, this study explores the way both dominant and resistant discourses are organized in the unfolding of and in the dealing with differences within an online discussion group. Forms of dominant discursive strategies are analyzed: ‘argumentation’, ‘reversal’, ‘predication’, ‘apparent denial’, and ‘setting of agendas’. This paper also identifies several forms of resistant discursive strategies including ‘disruption of the certainties’, ‘recognition of ambiguities’, and ‘acknowledgement of differences’. 본 연구는 온라인 토론의 민주적 함의를 탐색한다. 사이버공간의 숙의 민주주의적 잠재성에 대한 많은 낙관적 전망에도 불구하고, 온라인 상호 작용의 성격에 대한 일부 경험연구들은 사이버공간이 공론장의 기대를 제대로 실현하지 못하고 있다고 주장한다. 대부분의 온라인 토론이 의견의 대립을 좀처럼 해소하지 못하며, 합의의 형성보다는 플레이밍으로 쉽사리 귀결된다는 것이다. 그러나 이러한 사실로부터 온라인 토론의 민주적 함의를 반드시 부정적으로 한계 지을 필요는 없을 것이다. 숙의 민주주의 모델은 합의의 형성을 민주적 과정의 핵심적 요소로 간주하지만, 많은 연구자들은 합의보다는 차이와 불일치가 민주적 발전과정에 더 중요한 역할을 한다는 점을 강조한다. 본 연구는 정치적 적대와 대립을 강조하는 경합적 다원주의 모델에 근거해, ‘양심적 병역거부’를 둘러싼 온라인 토론과정에서 지배담론과 저항담론이 조직되는 방식을 탐구한다. 본 논문은 ‘입론’, ‘반전’, ‘단정’, ‘표면적 부정’, ‘의제설정’과 같은 지배 담론전략의 유형들을 밝힌다. 또한 이 연구는 저항 담론전략이 ‘확실성에 대한 도전’, ‘모호성의 인식’, ‘차이의 인정’과 같은 유형들로 조직되고 있음을 밝힌다.

클라우드(Cloud)에서, 다시 크라우드(Crowd)로 피투피와 탈중심 인터넷의 복원점들

This paper explores how recent various peer-to-peer networking projects try to replace the current cloud computing system monopolizing almost all Internet resources and reestablish the decentralized Internet again. In doing so, it argues that the issues of intellectual property rights and file sharing, privacy and public key encryption, and free labor and cryptocurrency constitute the crucial nodal points of those attempts. In addition, by examining some p2p projects including Naptster, Bittorrent, Tor, Yacy, MaidSafe, and Synereo, this paper shows that the dynamics of p2p networking covers up the extension of fuller libertarian market relations as well as the radical challenge to the capitalist property regime. And it points out that the original hacker ethics as a mixture of commonism and libertarianism still penetrates the many p2p networks that endeavor to re-attribute digital networks’ wealth and value from the grip of cloud to the hands of crowd. 이 연구는 최근의 다양한 피투피(peer-to-peer) 네트워킹이 어떻게 현재 인터넷의거의 모든 자원을 독점하고 있는 클라우드(cloud) 컴퓨팅 시스템을 대체하고 탈중심 인터넷을 새롭게 재구축하려 하는지를 탐구한다. 그 속에서, 지적 재산권과 파일 공유, 프라이버시와 공개 열쇠 암호화 방식, 그리고 자유노동과 암호화폐가 그러한 실천의 주요결절점(nodal points)이 되고 있음을 밝힌다. 아울러, 이 논문은 냅스터(Napster), 비트토렌트(Bittorrent), 토어(Tor), 야시(Yacy), 메이드세이프(MaidSafe), 시너리오(Synereo) 등의 피투피 네트워킹 동학이 자본주의 재산권 질서에 대한 근본적인 도전에서부터더욱 온전한 자유주의적 시장 관계의 확산에 이르기까지 폭넓게 걸치고 있음을 지적한다. 그리고 이는 완벽한 기술 개발을 위해 공유주의와 자유지상주의 사이를 유동하는본래적 해커 윤리가 디지털 네트워크에서 창출되는 부와 가치를 클라우드에서 크라우드로 되돌리려는 다양한 피투피 프로젝트에 여전히 관통하고 있는 것에 따른 결과임을밝힌다.

In order to investigate the vascular relaxant effect of Ligusticum chuanxiong, Cnidium officinale and Angelicae radix mixed with each of them, we examined with physiography using thoracic aorta of rats. Samples were prepared to be divided Ligusticum chuanxiong (TC), Cnidium officinale (IC), TC removed oil (TCRO), oil extracts from TC (TCO) and IC (ICO), and Angelicae radix (D) mixed with TC (TC/D), IC (IC/D), and TCRO (TCRO/D). From norepinephrine and phenylephrine induced vascular contraction, all the samples had relaxant effect. IC was more effective vascular relaxant capacity compared to TC, however, as removed oil from TC (TCRO) the relaxant capacity was markedly elevated and higher than that of IC. Mixing the Angelicae radix, relaxant effect between TC/D and IC/D was that TC/D was more effective vascular relaxant capacity than that of IC/D. Whereas there was not relaxant effect in TCO and ICO, and TCRO/D was declined in relaxant rotio compared to TCRO. Based on these results, it is suggested that Angelicae radix is very effective material to elevate the vasodilation effect of Ligusticum chuanxiong and Cnidium officinale.
