The contemporary cultural atmosphere in the Western world may be characterized most adequately through its antagonism to their own essentialist-realist tradition of thought. In this antagonism is comprised a protreptic to tolerance and pluralism, a protreptic that contrasts clearly with the dogmatic attitude inherent in the essentialist-realist standpoint of traditional philosophy. This situation reminds us of the confrontation between philosophy and rhetoric enacted by Plato in the ancient times. Targeting Gorgias as a spokesman of the opposite camp Plato did everything in his power to undermine the relativism a la Gorgias in the belief that rhetoric rises and falls with the cause expounded by Gorgias. Now that after more than two thousands years anti-essentialism and consequently relativism are gaining ground, the achievement of the modern followers of Gorgias seems to encourage us, friends of rhetoric, in our hope for the renaissance of rhetoric. But at this point we should raise a question how far rhetoric can get along with the relativism. Though it is true that a relativistic and pluralistic attitude toward verities matches well with the spirit of rhetoric, there is no logically necessary relationship through which both should be connected to each other. Rhetoric does not need to be supported by any special kind of philosophical cause. One can say that rhetoric is neutral in this sense; Rhetoric can give support to a very stiffened form of essentialism as well as to an anarchistic anti-essentialism. The misunderstanding about the insincerity of rhetoric with respect to verities can be corrected, if one recalls that rhetoric at the time of its birth was understood as an art of persuasion. Persuasion comprises two functions, namely 'docere' and 'movere'. For too long time too much emphasis has been given to 'movere'. However, without giving just so much emphasis to the other indispensable side of persuasion, 'docere', we cannot rebuild rhetoric as a desirable kind of art. 'docere' could not be 'docere', if it should ignore the importance of truths. What distinguishes rhetoric from philosophy is not the noncommitment to truths, but its interest in the pragmatics of communication in the life world.

We are commomly used to the tungusten lamps for the general illumination and special lightings. But in recent year, the large size, plane light emitting area, LED lamp is utilizing instead of the tungusten lamps which are hardly possible in application for the opt-electronics, high dimensional display device and other the new numerous lighting field. An experimental study on this large size, plane light emitting area, type LED is intended here to analyze the characteristics, and research the illuminant applications, comparing to tungusten lamps and traditional type LEDs. This new lamps are now in the limelight owing to the expectation that they will not only replace conventional tungsten lamps for industrial control system, but also general illminations, in future.
중재반응 모델에 근거한 수학 학습장애 학생의 연산능력 발달패턴 탐색 및 분석

이 연구의 목적은 최근 학습장애 진단 준거로서 제시되고 있는 중재반응 모델에 근거하여 초등학교 저학년 학생들의 일반적인 연산 수행능력 발달 패턴(수행수준과 성장속도)과 수학 학습장애 학생의 연산능력 발달패턴 및 중재 효과를 탐색하는 데 있다. 이에 연구대상으로는 서울, 인천, 경기에 소재하는 초등학교 4개교에 재학하는 2ㆍ3학년 일반학생 237명(2학년=117명, 3학년-120명)과 동일 지역에 소재하는 초등학교 10개에 재학하는 수학 학습장애 학생 104명(2학년=45명, 3학년=59명)이 참가하였다. 연구결과 초등학교 2?3학년 학생들의 연산 능력의 발달은 개인이 지는 연산능력에 따라 서로 다른 경향성을 보였으며, 수학학습 장애학생은 초기값과 성장률 모두에서 또래의 일반학생에 비하여 낮은 수행능력을 나타내었다. 또한 HLM(위계적 선형모형)을 통한 중재효과 분석에서 통제집단의 자연성장률과 실험집단의 중재효과 및 처치타당도를 확인할 수 있었다. The purpose of this study was to investigate developmental patterns(performance level and rates of growths) of students with MLD(mathematical learning disabilities) and without MLD in elementary school and effects of intervention based on RTI(Responsiveness To Intervention). For this purpose, 237 student (grade 2 = 117 students; grade 3=120 students) without MLD and 104 students (Grade 2 = 45 students; Grade 3=59 students) with MLD participated. All students with MLD were significantly below grade level and had an low intelligence quotient(above -2SD). The results of this study showed that developmental patterns of students was not consistent. Their developmental patterns is dramatically diverse according to the model to estimate the trajectories and the performance levels. And we knew students with MLD had a problem in a computational development patterns of MLD. Also, we suggested the effects of intervention and the validity of treatment.

When a induction motor connected with machine-tool spindle is driven by an inverter, the non-sinusoidal voltage and current components in the form of high-frequency harmonics causes motor vibration, nois, and power loss. The article discusses the testing and analysis of these factors and, in particular, clarifies the nois loss mechanism through analysis of response of magnetomotive forces caused by time-depe-ndent harmonics These findings are illustrated by examples of ventilatlon and analysis of smalll inductioin motors.
