A total of 120 samples corresponding to 12 categories of dried processed fishery products distributed in Gyeonggi-do were examined for radioactivity contamination (131I, 134Cs, 137Cs) and heavy metals (lead, cadmium, arsenic, and mercury). One natural radioactive material, 40K, was detected in all products, while the artificial radioactive materials 131I, 134Cs and 137Cs were not detected at above MDA (minimum detectable activity) values. The detection ranges of heavy metals converted by biological basis were found as follows: Pb (N.D.-0.332 mg/kg), Cd (N.D.-2.941 mg/kg), As (0.371-15.007 mg/kg), Hg (0.0005-0.0621 mg/kg). Heavy metals were detected within standard levels when there was an acceptable standard, but the arsenic content was high in most products, although none of the products had a permitted level of arsenic. In the case of dried processed fishery products, there are products that are consumed by restoring moisture to its original state, but there are also many products that are consumed directly in the dry state, so it will be necessary to set permitted levels for heavy metals considering this situation in the future. In addition, Japan has decided to release contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the ocean, so there is high public concern about radioactivity contamination of food, including fishery products. Therefore, continuous monitoring of various food items will be necessary to ease consumers' anxiety.

This study aims to clarify the beginning of the Korean art song by reviewing how the German art song lied was traditionally transferred and spread in Korea. As a genre of art that unites poetry and music, the art song was originally developed in German-speaking countries including Germany and Austria; the then composers put a melody on poems so that singers(vocalists) could sing the songs. Gretchen am Spinnrade by Franz Peter Schubert is considered the beginning of such a style of music. Since promulgating good poems was one of the composer`s missions then, music was viewed as subordinate to poems. As an outcome of cultural convergence through intermediality, however, the two independent forms of art, poetry and music, came to converge into a completely single genre, heralding a birth of a new music style. Since Shubert, composers were no longer a mere reciter exalting poems by putting melodies on rhythmical poetic language; instead, they served as a free interpreter of poems to express the sentiment beyond the lyrics musically. In an attempt to overcome the stereotype that regarded music simply as an aid to better understand poems, a new trend such as through-composed songs, away from traditional strophic songs, emerged. Those German art songs were widely disseminated beyond Germany since 1835, and took root in many areas as folk music combined with each country`s traditional musical hallmarks. Korea was no exception. With Korean art songs originated from Germany, scholars in the field have long disputed over which one is the first Korean art song that complied with the concept, definition, and conditions of the German lied. When we consider the art song as a fair combination of poetry and music, a hint can be found from the history of Korean poetry. Korean poetry began to mature in the 1930s with poets clearly expressing their own signature colors in their creations. Professional poets actively broke onto the art scene, and Ji-yong Jeong was one of them. Mr. Jeong released a poem titled Home (Gohyang) on No. 4 Dongbang Critique in July, 1932, and Dong-sun Chae, a composer, put a melody on it; later it was sung by Sun-yub Chae with the piano accompaniment by Ae-sik Kim. After studying composition officially in Germany, Dong-sun Chae returned to Korea and composed the song, meeting all of necessary and sufficient conditions of the German lied. In this sense, Home (Gohyang) can be regarded as the first Korean art song.

This study aims to examine the capability of Mok-wol Park`s poetry, Naguenae, as an art song. The art song, originally developed in Germany in the eighteenth-century, is a genre of art that unites poetry and music; the composers put a melody on poems so that singers could sing the songs. As an outcome of cultural convergence, the two independent forms of art, literature and music, came to converge into a completely single genre, heralding a birth of a new musical style. Korean poetry began to mature in the 1930s and Mok-wol Park, the most representative poet throughout the history of Korean literature, shows lyrical and rhythmical features on his early poems. This musicality was valuable to be used as text for art songs by many contemporary composers such as Yeon-jun Kim, Sung-tae Kim, Sun-ae Kim, Soo-in Lee, and I-sang Yoon. In the process of categorizing their art songs, we discovered that there are numerous songs using particularly Naguenae as a text. This study mainly explores and analyzes reasons from musical and glossematic perspectives, as well as from viewpoint of the theory of cultural convergence. Mok-wol`s Naguenae written based on a calculation of its regular rhythmic patterns has the optimum condition as a text for the musical setting in which a tonal center, rhythm, and phrasing can be combined without any disturbances. Moreover, his use of liquid sound aids a singer`s vocalization. Therefore, in view of the fact that a song is to be sung, which is a necessary and sufficient condition for an art song, together with a text and musical setting, Naguenae qualifies all conditions. The fact that one particular poem written by one poet was used as a text for an art song by fourteen different composers is unusual case in Korean history of art songs. In addition, Mok-wal Park`s Naguenae is not only literary valuable, but means a new step of cultural convergence.

This study examines the antioxidant activities and quality characteristics of fermented Codonopsis lanceolata tea according to the heating temperature and time. The browning, turbidity, reducing sugar, total polyphenol and total flavonoid contents all increased with increasing of heating temperature and time, but the pH decreased within the range of error. In particular, the total polyphenol contents of the heat treatment sample for 15 minutes at $200^{\circ}C$ are increased to about 4.5 times of 713.71mg/100ml as compared to the control group. From the results of the antioxidant activity test, as both the heating temperature and time increases, the antioxidant activity was increased for DPPH radical-scavenging activity, FRAP and reducing its power. In the case of the samples treated with heat for 15 minutes at $200^{\circ}C$ in the DPPH radical scavenging ability, it increased about twice more than the 45.17% control plot at 85.40%, and the reducing power and FRAP were increased to approximately two or three times more than the control group. According to the results for sensory test of fermented C. lanceolata tea according to heating temperature and time, the preference was confirmed as high by heat treatment due to increased temperature and time. Heat treatment process of C. lanceolata during the process is determined by the conditions required for high value-added products through the improvements of the taste and functionality of C. lanceolata.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the protective effect on oxidative stress induced PC12 cells, and volatile flavor composition of essential oils derived from medicinal plant seeds- Gossypium hirsutum L. (G. hirsutum), Coix lachryma-jobi (C. lachryma-jobi) and Oenothera biennis (O. biennis). The essential oils were obtained by the solvent (hexane) extraction method from the seeds. The essential oils of the seeds were analyzed by the solid-phase micro-extraction gas chromatography mass spectrometry (SPME-GC/MS). The major compounds of G. hirsutum, C. lachryma-jobi and O. biennis were cyclonexanol (16.65%), β-asarone (14.29%) and ylangene (50.01%). The DPPH radical scavenging activity (IC50) was the highest value of 8.52 mg/mL in the O. biennis. Additionally, IC50 values of G. hirsutum and C. lachryma-jobi were 26.76 mg/mL and 36.81 mg/mL. For the oxidative stress on PC12 cells, we treated with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The pretreatment of oxidative stress induced PC12 cells with all the essential oils preserved or increased their cell viability and G. hirsutum and O. biennis attenuated the ROS generation (by 68.75% and 56.25% vs. H2O2 control). The results of this study suggest that the essential oils derived from medicinal plant seeds could be used as valuable back data as a natural essential oil material to prevent neurodegenerative diseases by protecting neuro-cells.
