        골판지 고지의 물리화학적 처리에 의한 강도향상(제2보)

        In the previous experiment, it was found that OCC pre-treatment with Hobart mixer at 20-25% consistency for 3 hrs or more followed by the application of the equal refining time, caused the increase of tensile strength, burst strength, compressive strength and tear resistance, compared to the no pre-treated. Four completely different fibers, which were Hw-BKP, Sw-BKP, White ledger, and OCC were selected for this experiment to investigate the effect of mechanical pre-treatment process on different fibers. From the experiment, it was found that the mechanical pre-treatment did not decrease fiber length at all, but decreased freeness, com-pared to the no pre-treated, when the same refining time was applied. WRVs of the pre-treated fibers were higher than the no pre-treated at the same freeness level. It was speculated that the mechanical pre-treatment induced only hydrophilic nature of fibers without damaging fiber length by delaminating fiber walls. The fiber surface area and the physical strength differences of handsheets will be discussed in the next publication.

        골판지 고지의 물리화학적 처리에 의한 강도향상(제3보) - 수초지의 물리적 특성변화 -

        This study is a continuation of the previous experimental analysis and is mostly focused on handsheet strength properties. Four completely different fibers, which were Hw-BKP, SW-BKP, White ledger, and OCC, were selected to investigate the effect of mechanical pre-treatment by Hobart mixer on handsheet strehgth properties. After equal time mechanical pre-treatment, the fibers were refined with laboratory valley beater for 10, 20 and 30 minutes, and handsheets were prepared from the fibers for physical strength comparison. Handsheets from SW-BKP and OCC showed 5-30% increase of breaking length, burst index, tear index, and compression index while handsheets from HW-BKP and White ledger no increase except tear index. In Hobart mixer pre-treatment, HW-BKP and White ledger fibers were easily attached to the wall of the mixer bowl and mechanical action was not effectively applied. The fiber length of Hw-BKP and White ledger were 0.837 mm and 1.591 mm, respectively, while SW-BKP and OCC were 2.744 mm and 2.033 mm, respectively, in weight weighted length. The effective mechanical pre-treatment seems to be related to the fiber length. Tear indexes of the pre-treated furnish were much higher than no pre-treatment at the same breaking length level.

        랫드에서 hyaluronic acid에 의한 유착 방지 효과에 관한 연구

        This study was conducted to investigate the effect of hyaluronic acid (HA) on prevention of abdominal adhesions depending on various concentrations thereof by inducing an abrasion experimentally in the cecum of rats. Each group was consisted of 10 rats, and 40 rats were divided into 4 groups comprising the saline treatment group, HA 0.4% treated group, 0.6% treated group, and 0.8% treated group. And abrasion was caused in the cecum by using dry gauze and thereby, adhesion was induced. On 7 days after the operation, adhesions of each region were evaluated into the range of 0-4. Significant difference was found in the adhesion score between the control group and each experimental group (P<0.05). Also, HA 0.4% treatment group showed the lowest adhesion score (P<0.05). In the light of the above results, HA 0.4% solution was more effective on prevention of adhesion than HA 0.6% and 0.8% solution.

        Ilizarov 시술 후 추적검사에 있어 초음파검사의 유용성 : 단순촬영과의 비교

        Purpose : To compare the usefulness of ultrasonography in follow up evaluation after the Ilizarov procedurewith that of plain radiography. Materials and Methods : We analyzed ultrasound findings in twelve patients who hadundergone the Ilizarov procedure, and retrospectively compared the results with the findings of plain radiography.The procedure was performed due to post-traumatic limb deformity or non-union(nine of twelve patients), congenitalpseudoarthrosis(one case), sequelae of poliomyelitis(one case), and short stature(one case). The patients' meanage was 29 years ; eleven of twelve were male. Ten of twelve procedures were performed on the tibia and two on thefemur. After 7-10 days, distraction was initiated at a rate of 0.25mm four times a day. Ultrasonography wasperformed with a 5-10 MHz linear or convex transducer ; new bone formation was defined as dotted or linearechogenic foci within a hypoechoic distraction gap. Initial ultrasonographic examination was performed 2-4 weeksafter distraction, and the results were compared with those of plain radiography. Color Doppler imaging wasperformed in three cases. Results : On ultrasonograms, new bone formation was initially detected 18-29(mean, 23)days after distraction, and on plain radiographs, 37-58(mean, 45) days after this procedure ; ultrasonography thusdetected new bone formation at least three weeks earlier than did plain radiography. Complication after theIlizarov procedure were four cysts at the distraction site, and one pin site infection, as seen on ultrasonograms.None of these four cysts, the size of which was 12-22mm(mean, 17mm), was visible on plain radiographs. In one casein which a cyst was present, ultrasound-guided aspiration was performed. Color Doppler examination was performedin three of twelve patients, and in all three, periosteal vascularity at the edge of the distracted gap was seento be preserved. Conclusion : After the Ilizarov bone lengthening procedure, ultrasound appears to be useful forfollow-up examination. New bone formation, as well as complications, can be detected earlier ; it can indicatewhether ultrasound-guided interventional procedure is required, and if combined with color Doppler study, is ableto detect the periosteal blood supply. Further evaluation of the clinical significance of preserved periostealblood supply seems however, to be needed.

        Purpose: The cDNA microarray provides a powerful alternative with an unprecedented view in monitoring geneexpression levels and leads to discoveries of regulatory pathways involved in complicated biological processes. Our aim is to explore the different gene-expression patterns in gastric adenocarcinomas. Materials and Methods: By using a cDNA microarray representing 4,600 cDNA clusters, we studied the expression profiling in 10 paired gastric adenocarcinoma samples and in adjacent noncancerous gastric tissues from the same patients. Alterations in the gene-expression levels were confirmed by Vsing Northern blots and reverse-transcription PCR (RT-PCR) in all of 4 randomly selected genes. Results: Genes those were expressed differently in cancer ous and noncancerous tissues were identified. 44 (of which 26 were known) and 92 (of which 43 were known) genes or cDNA were up- and down-regulated, respectively, in more than $80\%$ of the gastric adenocarcinoma samples. In cancer ous tissues, genes related to gene/protein expression, cellcycle regulation, and metabolism were mostly up-regulated whereas genes related to the oncogene/tumor suppressor gene, cell structure/motility, and immunology were mostly down-regulated. The semi-quantitative RT-PCR results for the four genes we tested were consistent with the array findings. Conclusions: These results provide not only a new molecular basis for understanding the biological properties of gastric adenocarcinomas but also a useful resource for future development of therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers for gastric adenocarcinomas.

        정렬에 무관한 마이크로옵틱 마하젠더 간섭계형 필터

        광섬유형 콜리메이터와 광 진행 경로의 수직 방향으로 삽입된 주기적으로 식각된 줄무늬(stripe) 평판에 의해 진행하는 빔의 일부에 광 경로차를 유도하는 마이크로 옵틱형 마하젠더 간섭형 필터를 제안하고 구현하였다. 제안된 마이크로 옵틱 필터는 주기적으로 식각된 줄무늬(stripe) 구조의 평판을 빔 경로에 삽입하여 측방향 정렬에 무관하게 특정 소멸비 값 이상의 특성을 구현할 수 있으며, 식각된 박막의 두께를 조정함으로써 원하는 대역폭 및 주기의 전달특성을 가지는 필터를 구현할 수 있다. 네거티브 포토레지스터인 SU-8을 기반으로 줄무늬(stripe) 구조의 주기적으로 식각된 평판을 제작하였으며 이를 이용하여 구현된 필터의 소멸비는 측방향 정렬에 무관하게 30 dB이상의 값을 가진다. 제작된 필터의 FSR(Free Spectral Range)은 장파장 대역에서 약 237 nm이고 그리고 삽입손실은 2 dB 미만의 값을 가진다. 통과대역에서의 PDL(Polarisation Dependent Loss)값은 0.15 dB 미만이다. A novel alignment-free micro-optic MZI filter has been demonstrated. The filter is composed of two fiber-pigtailed collimators and a beam-splittingplate with a periodically etched stripe pattern. We fabricated the plate through a standard lithographic formulation process by using a pyrex substrate glass with SU-8 resist coating on its one of the surfaces. The maximum insertion loss of the implemented filter was less than 2 dB over 1000 nm to 1600 nm and the extinction ratio was larger than 33 dB. The measured PDL within the 3-dB pass band of the filter was less than 0.15dB and the maximum extinction ratio variation was less than 2 dB even when the worst alignment error occured.

        수도품종의 위조현상과 생리 및 형태해부학적 구조와의 관련성에 관한 연구 제2보 유신벼의 위조현상발생과 형태해부학적 구조와의 관계

        전보에서 수도의 급성위조현상의 발생은 생리적으로 일사량의 부족, 질소과측시용 및 불합리한 재배관리에 의한 극심한 토양환원조건 등이 단독 또는 복합되어 일어나는 생리적 장해로서 유발 가능성을 제시하였다. 본 연구는, 유신과 유신의 교배모본인 IR262와 비교품종으로 통일을 공시하여 근기능과 관계가 있는 산소의 지상부로부터 근부로의 공급능력의 품종간차이와 산소의 포기를 위한 해부학적 구조(Anatomical Structure)로 본 포기조직(Lysigenous aerencyma:Air Space)의 발달의 품종간차이를 조사검토 하여 위조현상의 근원적인 원인(Cause)을 명백히 하고자 실시한 바 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 유신의 위조현상의 발생은 품종, 일사량불족, 질소과잉시용, 토양의 환원 등 단독 또는 복합요인에 의해 유발될 수 있다는 Provisional mechanism을 제시할 수 있었다. 2. 유수형성기 또는 출수기에 Paraffin liquid를 회수면상에 피복하여 외기로부터 근부로의 공급되는 산소를 차단한 바, 처리 1주일후에 급격한 위조현상이 유신과 IR262에시 발생하였으나 통일은 건전하였다. 3. 생육시기별로 뿌리를 절제한 뒤 수경액중에서의 신발근력의 품종간차이를 보면 통일은 높은 발근역을 보였으나 ,유신과 IR262는 현저히 떨어졌다. 4. 지상부로부터 간내 통기조직(Lysigenous aerenchyma: Air Space)을 통해 공급된 산소의 근부로부터의 방출량(Oxygen release)은, 통일은 높은 방출량을 보였으나 유신과 IR262는 현저히 낮은 방출량을 보였는데, 이같은 경향은 감수분열기나 출수기에 동일한 품종간차이를 인정할 수 있었다. 5. 외기 및 광합성으로 생성된 산소의 경엽으로부터 근부로 공급되는 통기조직인 각절간의 Air Space 를 검정한 바, 5절간에서는 3품종이 다같이 풍부하게 발달되었으나 그 크기에 있어서는 유신과 IR262가 통일보다 현저히 작았다. 6. 4절간에 형성된 Air Space는 통일은 풍부하게 발달되었으나 유신과 IR262는 거의 발견할 수 없었다. 7. 한편 양수분의 통기조직인, 유관동의 수는 3품종간 차이가 없었으나, 그 크기에 있어서는 Air Space와는 반대로 유신과 IR262가 크고 통일에서 작았다. 8. 위조현상에 저항성이 약한 품종은 산소의 공급능력은 낮은 대신 양분, 특히 질소의 흡수능력은 큰 특성을 지닌 것으로 추정된다. 9. 이상을 종합하면 위조현상의 Susceptible variety는 절간에 형성되는 통기조직의 발달불량으로, 불량한 기상, 토양 및 재배관리하에서는 산소의 공급능력이 약하여 기관조직의 대사능력이 약해지고 근부현상을 일으켜 뿌리조직이 질식되어 일어나는 것으로서, 위조현상의 발생은 해부학적 구조의 유전적 특성(Morphogenesis)이 주원인이며, 그로 인한 생리적 장해가 이차적인 요인으로 생각된다. One of the physiological disease, sudden wiliting of Yushin variety suggested that low sunlight, excessive nitrogen application, and highly reduced soil condions either singly or combined, might be possible causes of the disorder. Some visual symptom of sudden wilting are discoloration of leaves, development of nodal roots above the soil surface, total root rot, and lodging. Those observations led to the hypothesis that suffocation of root tissues was a direct cause of the wilting. The oxygen transport characteristics of Yushin, IR262 and Tongil were examined by two methods. First, Soil-cultured plants of the three varieties were subjected to paraffin treatment to decrease the oxygen supply from the air to root tissues through the soil-water system, liquid paraffin was applied to the water surface in the pots at panicle formation stage. In this experiment, sudden wilting was observed of Yushin and IR262 at about a week after the treatment, but Tongil remained green and healthy. Wilting-resistant variety Tongil had higher oxygen release, whereas the susceptible Yushin and IR262 had lower oxygen release. Second, the number and size of the air spaces in each internode were investigated in the 5th internode from the top, all three varieties have a similar number of air spaces, although the air spaces of Thongil were larger. In the 4th internode, Tongil had plenty air spaces, Yushin and one of the Yushin's parents IR262 had scanty or none. The observations indicated that the ability of Yushin and IR262 for oxygen transport is very limited compared with that of Tongil. The limited oxygen supply due to poor development of air space in internode of rice plants may cause suffocation of root tissues, weaken metabolic activity of the tissues, and induce root rot, subsequently inducing sudden wilting and lodging under unfavorable weather, soil and cultural conditions.
