During the past half century, Korean contemporary architecture has achieved a lot. By adsorbing western modern architectural theory successfully and keeping the Korean tradition at the same time, unique types of Korean contemporary architecture were appeared. As Kim Swoo Geun was the representative architect of Korea. we can learn more about the Korean contemporary architecture by analyzing his architectural thinking and works. In the 1960s, affected by the impact of Japanese and Western education, exposed concrete was a common feature of this period. In 1970s, Red bricks were used as main to complete the buildings. Into 1980s, Kim Swoo Geun has undertaken several large projects and with new building materials, and consequently, so most projects were proceeded by team works.

Wang Shu was born at Xinjiang, China in 1963. He was graduated from Department of Architecture at the Nanjing Institute of Technology in 1985 and achieved his Ph.D's degree at Tongji University in 2000. He is the dean of the Faculty of Arts at the China Academy of Art doctoral tutor. Wang Shu was winner of the Pritzker Architectural Prize in February 27th, 2012. Wang Shu received this honor the first as Chinese citizens. Previously, Chinese American Architect Ieoh Ming Pei received this award in 1983. Wang Shu have created modern buildings by making use of traditional materials and applying older Chinese techniques. The Ningbo Museum was constructed by salvaged bricks from buildings which had been demolished to facilitate new developments. This paper has a aim to research the characteristics of architectural expression in Wang Shu's works through three points of view as follows:Chinese traditional architecture, Regional architecture and a Literary architect.
중국 건축가 왕슈(王澍)의 건축개념(建築概念)에 관한 연구

Wang Shu is an Chinese architect who was born in the 1960s and President at School of Architecture in China Academy of Arts. He has sought an architectural philosophy which was expressed in traditional Chinese architecture. He has interpreted the Modern architecture for his own architecture by use of traditional craftsmen of building techniques and Eco-friendly philosophy. An local architect Wang Shu has insisted on the construction of Chinese traditional culture which is rooted in the Chinese folk and traditional construction technology for more than ten years in his working career and has tried to adapt an connotation of relation between buildings and environment and has created a sense of space as unique cultural values. Wang Shu’s architectural works and its concept has gained widespread international attentions and recognitions. His work “Decay of the Dome” won a Special Honor Award of the 12th Venice Architecture Biennale in 2010, also he won the Gold Medal of French School of Architecture in 2011. After all he received the most renowned award of the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2012. Wang Shu said as follows: “More important than the architecture is a place of cultural atmosphere, More important than the technology is simple building skills and thinking.”

Today Eco-friendly and Sustainable Architecture have been big issues owing to global climate change and the deterioration of the environment and tall buildings which have become landmarks of Metropolis are increasing over many countries. Accordingly, tall buildings applying green technology(eco-friendly technology) are increasing also. For tall buildings, alternative energy such as solar or wind power is used or improve the building skin(shell, outer wall) and utilize rain or make green rooftop(roof garden). Surveying tall buildings applying green technology, the methods, characteristics and effects of application were analyzed and synthesized.
