        중등 영어과 임용고사 지문에서의 어휘다발 분석: 코퍼스 기반 연구

        Knowledge of lexical bundles, prefabricated (phraseological) chunks, is not only marked as an essential instrument to develop fluent language but also a marker of the shared membership within the same discourse community. The overriding purpose of this study is devoted to identify the functional types and structural patterns of lexical bundles used in the Secondary English Teacher Recruitment Exams (SETRE) administered from the years of 2002 through 2021. For the identification of idiosyncratic lexical bundles within the 130,687-word specific SETRE corpus, the concordance tool, Antconc 3.5.8, was applied under the frequency and dispersion criteria. With a 4-frequency occurrence as the cut-off limit and the conservative dispersion criteria, a total number of 108 four-word lexical bundles were retrieved. The structural analysis of lexical bundles demonstrated that compared to other academic texts, VP-based lexical bundles were pervasive in SETRE. The results also yielded empirical evidence of discipline-specificity features of SETRE. Grounded in the corpus-driven findings, this research drew pivotal implications for further research and pedagogical practices and it is hoped to add a valued contribution to advancing lexical bundle research.         메타분석을 통한 영어 교과에서의 문법 교육의 효과 분석

        본 연구는 EFL 상황인 한국 영어 교실 수업에서의 문법 교육의 효과를 통합적으로 살펴보는 목적을 갖고 있다. 이를 위해 총 30개 논문에 수록된 67개의 개별 연구 결과를 토대로 메타분석을 실시하였고, 이를 통해 평균효과크기를 산출하였다. 또한 조절변인별 문법 교육의 효과를 비교해 보기 위해 각 연구를 연구대상, 처치 기간, 문법 교육의 종류를 기준으로 분류하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 문법 교육 연구 전체의 평균효과크기는 .907로 매우 높은 효과를 지니고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 연구대상별 비교에서 중학생과 대학생 대상의 문법교육 효과가 초등학생과 고등학생 대상으로 한 경우보다 통계적으로 유의한 수준에서 높은 효과를 지니고 있는 것으로 나타났다 (Q=37.065, df=3, p=.000). 반면 처치기간과 문법 교육의 유형을 기준으로 비교해 봤을 때는 효과의 차이는 나타나지 않았다. This study aims to investigate the overall effects of teaching grammar in the Korean EFL classroom. A meta-analysis of 67 research findings in 30 articles was conducted to synthesize the results of these studies by calculating the mean effect sizes. This study reviewed and analyzed the previous studies in terms of subjects, treatment period, and types of grammar teaching. The results showed that teaching grammar in the classroom had beneficial effects on learners in general (d=.907). It was found to be more effective for middle school and university students than for elementary and high school students (Q=37.065, df=3, p=.000). There was no statistically significant difference in terms of treatment period and types of grammar teaching. Pedagogical implications and suggestions for Korean EFL learners are also discussed.

        EAP 전문 코퍼스를 활용한 유아교육 전문 어휘 추출

        본 연구는 EAP 전문 코퍼스 구축과 분석을 통해 유아교육 전문 어휘 목록을 개발하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위해 유아교육 전문가 2인과의 협의를 통해 선정된 7권의 유아교육 관련 영어 전공 서적을 기초로 50만 단어 수준의 전문 코퍼스를 구축하였다. 유아교육 전문 코퍼스의 어휘적 분포를 분석한 결과 기본 어휘에 해당하는 GSL[1]은 81.86%, 학술어휘에 해당하는 AWL[2]은 9.78%로 타 분야의 학술적 텍스트와 유사한 분포를 나타냈다. 한편 어휘의 다양성을 살펴보기 위해 TTR을 산출한 결과 3.18로 타 코퍼스의 결과와 비교할 때 낮은 수치, 즉 동일한 어휘의 반복이 비교적 많다는 특징을 보여 주었다. 다음으로 빈도와 출현 범위 등을 기준으로 유아교육 분야의 전문 어휘를 추출한 결과 총 224개의 어휘가 선정되었다. 이 어휘 목록은 영어로 유아교육을 가르치기 위한 목적으로 활용될 수 있을 것이며, 특히 영어로 쓰인 유아교육 분야의 전공서적을 읽기 위한 기초 자료서로 유용성을 지닐 것으로 기대된다. The aim of this research is the development and evaluation of a technical vocabulary list for early childhood education. The list was compiled from a corpus of 500,000 running words of written academic texts from 7 books about early childhood education. The distribution of GSL[1] and AWL[2] was 81.86% and 9.78% respectively, which meant that academic texts related to early childhood education is very similar with ones on other disciplines. The technical vocabulary list for early childhood education (TV4ECE), extracted in terms of frequency and range, contains 224 types. This word list can be used to teach early childhood education in English, especially for the preparation of reading the English texts in the field of early childhood education.

        요약하기 활동이 영어능력에 미치는 영향: 메타분석

        Summary writing is a must-have skill, because information, predominantly in English, is flooding worldwide and for non-native English speakers inundated with English written texts. To date cumulative studies on summary writing have been undertaken on the grounds of its pedagogical significance. In order to summarize years of research, this meta-analysis is devoted to elucidating the effects of summary writing on Korean EFL students’ language learning outcomes in terms of the following categories: publication types, treatment period, school type, and reading material type. A comprehensive meta-analysis of 35 research findings was performed to synthesize the study results by calculating the mean effect sizes. First, the results indicated that the mean effect size of summary writing intervention was .721, indicating that implementing summary writing in class had beneficial effects for Korean EFL learners in general. Second, it was also identified that more than 9-week treatment period was more inclined to be effective than shorter period. Moreover, the effect size in authentic materials were higher than contrived texts. Among the dependent variables, the effect sizes in reading and writing were bigger than in vocabulary. The insights from this meta-analysis hold remarkable implications for summary writing practices (Jeonju University, Wonkwang University).

        학생부종합전형의 평가 요소와 기준에 대한 고등학교 교사와 학부모의 인식: J대학 사례를 중심으로

        본 연구의 목적은 학생부종합전형의 평가 요소와 기준에 대한 고등학교 교사와 학부모의 인식을 살펴보고 이를 통해 학생 역량을 보다 공정하고 정확하게 측정할 수 있는 대입 전형 개발의 기초 자료를 제공하는 것이다. 이를 위해 전국의 고등학교 교사 102명과 고등학생 자녀를 갖고 있는 68명의 학부모를 대상으로 온라인 설문을 실시하였다. 온라인 설문지는 J대학의 학생종합전형 기준을 바탕으로 제작되었으며, 크게 ‘서류평가’, ‘면접평가’, ‘기초설문’의 3영역으로 구성하였다. 이를 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교사와 학부모 모두 학생생활기록부 중심의 학생부종합전형이 2015 개정 교육과정 운영의 활성화에 기여할 수 있는 대입전형이라고 응답하였다. 둘째, 교사와 학부모 모두 인성, 적성, 잠재력 모두 서류 평가와 면접 평가에서 중요한 요소라고 응답하였다. 셋째, 2015 개정 교육과정 활성화를 위해 학생부종합전형이 계속 유지되어야 하나 해당 전형의 공정성 확보가 선행되어야 함을 지적하였다. 마지막으로 연구 결과를 토대로 대입 전형 개선을 위한 제언을 제시하였다. The purpose of this study were to examine the high school teachers’ and parents’ perceptions on the evaluation criteria and standard of the school record-focused selection system, and to provide basic data on the development of college admission systems in order to measure student competencies more fairly and accurately. To this end, 102 high school teachers and 68 parents with high school children nationwide were surveyed online. The online questionnaire was produced based on the student screening criteria of J university and consisted largely of the following three areas: ‘document evaluation’, ‘interview evaluation’, and ‘demographic survey’. The results are as follows. First, both teachers and parents said that the school record-focused selection system is a college admission format that can contribute to the activation of the 2015 revised curriculum. Second, both teachers and parents responded that personality, aptitude and potential are all important factors in document evaluation and interview evaluation. Third, school record-focused selection systems should continue to be maintained in order to promote the 2015 revised curriculum, but securing fairness in the admission process should precede that. Based on the results of the study, suggestions were made in order to improve the college admission system.

        초등영어 학습부진학생 지도의 효과

        This paper presents a quantitative meta-analysis of 55 experimental studies on teaching English language for underachievers at the primary school. For this purpose, the study employed an analytical category including 9 sub-categories including publication type, grade, region, treatment period, instructional method, and dependent variable. Statistical data from individual research such as the number of subjects, mean, and standard deviation were examined and analyzed according to systematic procedures for meta-analysis. The result of meta-analysis was that the mean effect size of English language instruction for low achievers at the elementary school was 1.319, a very large effect. The treatment period of 9-16 weeks was more effective than over 17 weeks. It was also found that instruction focusing reading skill had larger effect than program or teaching-learning model-based teaching. No statistical differences were found in sub-categories of dependent variables, English competence and affective factors. Pedagogical implications are drawn from the findings and suggestions were made for further research.

        Objective : This study is perfomed to evaluate the effect of Archery therapy by means of data measured from ABR-2000. Method : Among the outpatients who visited Wolgot oriental medicine clinic from 1, June 2003 to 28, June 2003, I selected 30 persons. they were divieded into two groups. One group was patients pretreated with Archery therapy and the other was patients after treated Arhery therapy. Before and after Archery therapy, I measured the outcome from ABR-2000. Consideration : I studied Archery therapy a point of oriental medicine. And also I studied between modern times and archery. Results : Patients before and after Archery therapy, there were significant differences. Conclusion : This result indicated that the Archery therapy was effective and so the more study is needed continuously.

        컴퓨터 공학 분야 영어 학술 논문의 전문 어휘 분석: 코퍼스 기반 연구

        Computer science is a fastmoving and must-learn discipline, with a high lexical density of conceptuallydemanding technical vocabulary. This study seeks to identify technical vocabulary used within the discipline of computer science through the corpus-based methodology. A specialized corpus of 135 research articles in computer science was built, comprised of 1,260,460 running words and for the analysis, AntWordProfiler was utilized. The corpus-driven analysis demonstrated that the GSL accounted for 71%. GSL and AWL’s combination achieved 83.1% of the computer science corpus, less than the 95% lexical threshold suggested for optimal comprehension. These results highlight the need for a mastery of technical lexis in computer science, which was found to be technical; a total of 545 field-oriented technical words were identified.         영상 매체의 자막 활용이 영어 학습자의 듣기 능력과 어휘력 향상에 미치는 효과

        This study investigated the overall effects of using subtitles of movies on Korean EFL students" L2 competence. A meta-analysis of 29 research findings in 17 articles was implemented to synthesize the results of these studies by calculating mean effect sizes. This study reviewed and analyzed results of previous studies in terms of school types, treatment period, types of subtitle and language skills. The results revealed that using subtitles in teaching English with movies had no beneficial effects in general (d = .031). Specific findings are as follows: the smaller the effect was observed, the longer the treatment period; there was no statistically significant difference in effect sizes depending on school types and types of subtitle; no statistically significant effects were found in language skills such as reading comprehension and vocabulary knowledge. Pedagogical implications based on findings and suggestions for further research are also discussed.
