Without scientific understanding of the phase change and the rejuvenation in woody perennials, many tree breeders have successfully rejuvenated and multiplied mature trees of some tree species, i.e., Eucalyptus, Pseudotsuga menziesii Sequoia sempervirens, Pinus radiata, Pinus pinaster, Quercus virginiana, Hedera helix, Juglans, apples, grapes, and so on. Practical techniques discussed to rejuvenate the old trees include grafting to younger stock, growth regulator treatment, pruning, repeated cutting, and in vitro culture. However, a combination of skills mentioned is recommended for rejuvenation of the mature propagation material. It is strongly required to develop a morphological and/or biochemical indicator system to judge the juvenility.
잣나무의 수형(樹型) 조절(調節) (III) - III영급(齡級) 이하(以下) 인공림(人工林)에서 잣과 목재(木材) 생산(生産)을 위한 수형(樹型) -

채종원(採種園) 관리를 위해 개발된 여러 수종의 다양한 수형 조절 방법의 검토 및 이미 수형 조절 작업을 받은 16년생 접목 잣나무의 성장 조사와 I영급~III영급 조림지 임목의 성장 조사를 통하여 잣나무 인공림에서 잣과 목재를 생산할 수 있는 수형과 그 조절 방법을 제시하였다. 제 1형은 I~II영급에 잣 생산만을 위해 적용할 수 있는 방법으로 지상 1m 정도의 힘센 생지(生枝)를 포함하여 1m 정도 간격으로 4~5마디까지 남기고 단간(斷幹)하되 각 마디에 3~4개의 일차지(一次枝)를 윤생(輪生)으로 배치하는 변칙주간형(變則主幹型)이고, 제 2형은 잣과 목재 생산을 함께 도모하는 II영급~III영급에 적용이 가능한 방법으로 힘센 첫 생지 (지표에서 4m~8m)의 아래 부분은 무절(無節) 주간(主幹)으로 성장시키고 그 위는 1m 정도 간격으로 최고 4~5마디까지 남기고 단간하되 각 마디에 3~4개의 일차지를 윤생으로 배치하는 변칙주간형이며, 제 3형은 목재 생산만을 위해 지하고(枝下高)가 9m를 넘는 잣나무를 강도(强度)의 가지치기로 주간형(主幹型)을 이루게 하여 곧고 빠른 주간의 성장을 도모하는 방법이다. To improve nut production and timber quality in a plantation, crown shape controls were suggested for Korean white pines (Pinus koraiensis) under age class III through the analyses of the crown shape controls for seed orchard trees in several species, of crown status of controlled and uncontrolled trees in a Korean white pine seed orchard, and of growth characteristics of plantation trees under age class III. For nut production from the small trees less than 8 m, modified leader type can be applied by cutting the central leader and all branches below 1 m and keeping 4~5 nodes with 3~4 whorled branches a node locating 1 m apart. Trees with a 4~8 m long trunk below the first living branch are shaped into trees for nut and timber production, which have a 4~8 m long knotless stem and a modified leader type crown with 4~5 nodes with 3~4 whorled branches a node at a distance of 1 m. Trees, showing the first living branch at or above 9 m from the surface, are pruned severely for timber production and result in a central leader type containing two fifths of the initial crown. It is advisable to remove the leader and the branches when collecting cones or after/during October to take advantage of easy labor and little resin while cutting. After stem cut, branches showing apical dominance are to be cut to control height when necessary. The removal of the uppermost node may be needed to control the crown shape several years after the initial stem-cut.

Background In opposition to the increased rate of purchasing rice online, the dissatisfaction of rice consumers has been increased year by year, but existing studies have failed to provide consumer-centered solutions because they were conducted from the perspective of producers and local governments. Methods This study seeks to apply the service design methodology to identify key factors that affect the satisfaction of rice purchasing experience from a consumer's perspective. To this end, literature surveys and customer interviews have been used to derive problems and solutions that consumers experience. After producing the prototype, the usability evaluation was conducted. Result Involvement of the brand is low when customers buy rice, however, the freshness of rice is the most crucial factor for customer’s satisfaction. Therefore, this study proposes a region-based rice sales platform - with the offline store, online App/Kiosk - to reduce price and time of carrying, as solving other in-satisfactions regarding quality, saving, checking information, and delivery of rice. Conclusion A region-based rice sales platform has been designed to meet key factors in consumer purchasing decisions. It is meaningful that this study has increased consumer satisfaction by applying service design methodology, based on the consumer's perspective, to propose a new consumer-oriented rice purchase platform.

Among the many channels of mass media, advertisement is obliviously affecting the public. In contemporary society, people are constantly exposed to countless product advertisements through various media. Companies are making their best effort to draw customers` attention, and empathic methodologies are becoming a mainstream of many. Sex appeal methodologies are mainly used among empathic ones, and even sex-neutral products are advertised using this particular method. Therefore, this research analyzes sex appeal advertisements and categorizes those advertisements by five types of Richmond & Hartman`s advertising appeals (functional, fantastic, inappropriate, symbolic, and gender-oriented). Moreover the study inquires the influence of sex appeal advertisement on customers` attitude toward advertisement, attitude toward the brand, and purchase intention.
