Passive directional plastic optical couplers were fabricated and characterized by changing polishing length and depth. Precise polishing and curing were required to minimize the loss of the coupler. Therefore, a polishing instrument was designed and constructed to polish the POF in side. The coupling ratio, excess loss, insertion loss were measured systematically and the best coupling ratio with the lowest excess loss was also investigated.
It makes the new market opportunities, so called electronic commerce Market (EC) standing for online shopping mall, and extend the boundary of the activities of companies, introducing IT and appling in the real world. The majority of customer’s dissatisfaction in online shopping mall results from the misunderstanding the information of goods. The low performance of online shopping mall and the loss of their customer result from this satisfactions affecting the trust of the online shipping mall. The competition of EC market grow harder, the manager of online shopping mall want to display their goods in 3D or many other multimedia and graphics. It’s proved in the previous research that 3D present more abundant informations, and makes customer understand information more effectively. According to Steven et al., novelty effect makes the performance of 3D bluffing and if the novelty effect of 3D graphics is removed , the effect of 3D graphics will be reduced. In this research, we compare the performance of 4 media types in the view of the cognitive performances and information processing process of customers in the laboratory experiment. Four media types are the 3D that has the novelty effect, 3D that has not novelty effect, 2D that composed of the plural pictures, and 2D that composed of the just a picture. In the results, it’ proved that the novelty effect of 3D graphics exist. We cannot found the significant difference of the performances between 3D novelty group and 3D experienced group, and between 2D plural and 2D singular. Especially in the comparison of 3D experienced and 2D, there are no significant differences in the view of presence and customer information processing process except the real information about the merchandises. In this research, we can contribute to the more visible information of the performances of each media in the view of practical affairs. We extend to the boundary of previous research by investigating the performance of 3D experienced, and view the performances of the various dependant variables, presence and customer information processing process on the wide scope.
How to improve online review mechanisms? : a review rating mechanism and review performance
Online feedback mechanism has been deployed in various customer opinion sites and review sites that have result in an increase in customer participation. It grows more popular that customers could remain a number of reviews and a length of the reviews about the service and product provided by the seller in those sites. Customers have difficulty to identify the reviews of what they want as the number and the length of reviews increase, because customers can only judge a helpful review after reading. Customers could not be confident that the reviewers are always impartial. Some researchers have argued that the current online review mechanism allows for manipulation by individuals who write unfair reviews or abuse the review mechanisms to advertise their own products and the current feedback mechanism has resulted in a distorting effect on the purchase decision of other customers (Dellarocas 2005, Resnick & Zeckhauser 2002, Duan & Whinston, 2005, Li & Hitt, 2008). Whereas the prior online feedback mechanism literature has found the various aspect of feedback mechanisms such as the effect of feedback mechanisms (Ba & Pavlou 2002), and the effect of the structural assurance such as the seal of approval, and abuse-protection policy(Pavlou & Gefen 2004) that could not provide solution on the above two problems. This research empirically validates another solution, the ‘peer rating mechanism’ that consists of a review rating mechanism, reviewer reputation mechanism by the peer customer community, the website characteristics of review navigation support and review visual design. The peer rating mechanism is the mechanism that provides the information cues that allow the customers through judge the reviews and the reviews. Followed with the finding of the effect of content rating and credibility indicators by Poston et al. (2005), the effect of website characteristics by Cyr (2007), institution-based trust literature by McKnight et al.(2002), and Pavlou and Gefen (2004), we predict that the peer rating mechanism and website characteristics affect the perceived review quality and reviewer credibility. In addition, information adoption model by Sussman and Siegal (2002) and post adoption model by Kim and Son (2009), the change of customer’s perception on the reviews and the reviewers could result in the change of attitude and behavioral intention. We empirically test our model through the quasi-experiment use of data collected from 213 students who have experienced online shopping after reading reviews in open-markets. As expected, we found that the peer rating mechanism and website characteristics could successfully enhance the perceived review quality and reviewer credibility of readers that could result in the enhancement of the review related attitude and behavioral intentions such as review adoption intention, review mechanism reuse intention, word of mouth intention and reciprocal participation intention. In general, the findings suggest that by introducing the peer rating mechanism we could effec-tively and credibly improve current feedback mechanism; In addition, it is essential to use the community of consumers to make the market sound. We could make the more balanced view on the effect of the review mechanism besides the benefit of the seller such as the price premium shown in prior research. We found that the relevant information could directly affect the reader’s judgment on the information and source. Finally, we could introduce the real artifacts of peer rating mechanism and website characteristics to improve the current feedback mechanisms.
