This study explores technic of Background processing which is a part of the material expression as one factor in various expressiveness in contemporary painting. In the 15th century, the technique of ground treatment was developed during the Renaissance. Therefore, this study conducts a comparative analysis of paintings from that period to reconceptualize the concept of ground treatment and its impact on the expressiveness of paintings. The research method is to analyze the background processing techniques recorded in 『Il libro Della Arte』(1398) written by Chennino Chennini and the works of tempera and oil painting techniques, which were the main painting techniques at the time, as prior studies, and to analyze the material characteristics of paints, The related technique refers to the pictorial expressiveness that appears through interaction with the background processing technique. And this is the educational effect analysis given by this part. The ground treatment technique is the process of treating the most basic support of a painting before the paint is applied, including the ground layer, the glue layer for homogenizing the ground, the gesso layer for separating the ground and paint layers, the under drawing layer on top of the gesso, and the imprimatura layer that controls paint absorption. The material parts of this process and the interrelationships of each layer were analyzed through the the expressiveness of the works, and an analysis of their roles and effects was conducted. Furthermore, the study of changes in the ground treatment confirmed the relationship between the paint and the complementary ground treatment by identifying the ingredients and features of the paint in tempera and early oil paintings. And this research process was able to show the educational effect of conversational expression through partial application of the educational curriculum. This research will enable a diverse approach to Western painting through a systematic practical education curriculum of classical painting, which does not appear in Korean art education. This type of educational research will lead to the possibility of expressing Korean contemporary painting in various ways.

The purpose of this study is to research the effect upon the sentence or utterance by chainingly (continyously) analyzing a speaker or listener`s recognition, thought, judgement. And, it is to clarify a content not appearing upon the sentence or utterance of one form sentence dealing with the study of grammar such as phonology, morphology, syntax proceeding semantics, and a contextual content or feature appearing upon the language performance. That is to say, how does a speaker understand a language (information) and is he/she using it, in other words, he/she attempt to analyze the process of from the recognition to the performance keeping the terms of pragmatics and cognitive theory as well as the ones of the speaker`s recognition, thought, judgement in mind. Also, it indicates there are other terms in the language performance aspect by speaker`s recognition, thought, judgement on the judgement of direct (declaratory) form, indirect (non-declaratory) from through the examination of preceding study depends upon the judgement whether the information belongs to the speaker or listener`s domain of information belongs to the speaker or listener`s domain of information or not.

This study aims to analyze and research the painting techniques related to expressiveness in Pieter Bruegel’s 1563 work <Tower of Babel>. Furthermore, it seeks to present the educational effects that emerge during the process of replicating the artwork for an effective analysis of his pictorial expression. Pieter Bruegel was an artist who continued the golden age of 15th-century Flemish art, alongside Hieronymus Bosch. He was active in Antwerp, a region of Flanders in Northern Europe, during the 16th century. The expression techniques manifested in his works exhibit a unique representation that differs from the early oil painting techniques popular in 15th-century Flemish paintings. This is a mixed expression of tuchlein, one of the tempera techniques before the early oil painting techniques were established in Flanders, and oil painting techniques. Such expression techniques are presumed to be a unique representation not seen in general Flemish paintings. Therefore, this study aims to reproduce his painting techniques through the analysis and replication of the artwork, <The Tower of Babel>, which was created using these expression techniques. And this process is a study on the re-recognition of the concept of mixed techniques of tempera and oil painting, and what impact this technique had on his expressiveness. The research method involves analyzing reports on Pieter Bruegel’s works, and conducting a preliminary analysis of <The Wine of Saint Martin’s Day> from the Prado Museum and <The Census at Bethlehem> from the KIK-IRPA. And through this study conducts a replication of the artwork ‘Tower of Babel’ using a mixed technique of tempera and oil painting, which are identified as the painting techniques of Bruegel through analysis. Through this process, we aim to verify the material characteristics of the paint and techniques, as well as his unique expressiveness. Along with this, we intend to discuss the analysis of the educational effects on the expressiveness in paintings that emerge in this process. The replication process can serve as a foundation for exploring new expressions in expressiveness education, along with verifying the artist’s expressiveness. This study aims to present various expression effects for modern paintings by conducting such educational research process.
