경/연자음 체계 내에서의 대칭성과 비대칭성 - 치경구개음과 경구개음을 중심으로

During the Common Slavic period, there was the law of syllabic synharmony that coincided [frontness] or [backness] feature of preceding consonant and following vowel. According to this law, a consonant had to be a palatalized sound before a front vowels. However, in the Common Slavic obstruent consonantal system, only non-palatalized labial, dental and velar sounds existed and concentrated on the stop sounds. In particular velar sounds were overly subdivided. As a result, when a new sound was created by the phonological rules, a new sound was created in a completely different place of articulation. Diachronic palatalization, by which velar sounds /k, g, x/ changed to sibilants, was the phonological rule to complement the asymmetry of Common Slavic consonantal system. Under the rule of diachronic palatalization, in the Slavonic consonantal system there were new sounds of alveolar, alveo-palatal, and palatal. This work analysed that the diachronic palatalization occurred in the process from the asymmetrical structure to the symmetrical structure and this phonological rule was interpreted as a phonetic change to complement the asymmetrical structure, which was concentrated in stop sounds and velars. The shift to palatalized consonants is another variation by the law of syllabic synharmony, and the intrinsic motivation of the diachronic palatalization is the universal change of language to transform asymmetrical structures into symmetrical structures. 이성민 ― lsmlsy@hanmail.net / 관심분야: 러시아 어학, 음운론, 러시아어 교육 연구개음 /k, g, x/가 치찰음으로 변화한 역사적 구개음화 현상은 자음과 모음의 전·후설성을 일치시켜야 하는 음절공조법칙이 존재하던 시기 자음 체계의 비대칭성을 보완하기 위한 음운 규칙이었다. 이 규칙으로 인해 이전에 순음과 치음, 연구개경자음만이 존재했던 슬라브어 장애음 체계는 치경과 치경구개, 경구개의 새로운 조음 위치에서 음이 만들어지고 파열음에 편중되어 있었던 조음 방법이 마찰음 수의 증가와 함께 새로운 파찰음을 만들 수 있게 되었다. 그러나 지금까지 역사적 구개음화에 대한 분석은 자음과 모음의 전·후설성을 일치시키려는 규칙 또는 제약으로만 분석되어 왔다. 하지만 그러한 분석은 음 변화의 올바른 결과는 도출할 수 있어도, 그러한 변화가 발생하게 된 동기에 대한 설명력은 제공할 수 없다. 경자음이 연자음으로 변화하게 된 결과는 보여줄 수 있어도, 조음 위치가 연구개에서 치경, 또는 경구개로 변화한 원인은 설명할 수 없는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 역사적 구개음화 현상은 비대칭 구조에서 대칭 구조로의 변화 과정에서 발생한 것이며, 공통슬라브어가 그 모어인 인도유럽조어에서 유래한 파열음과 연구개음에 편중된 비대칭 구조를 보완하려는 음운 변화라고 분석하였다. 연자음으로의 변화는 슬라브어의 특징인 음절공조법칙에 의한 또 다른 변화이고, 역사적 구개음화의 본질적 동기는 심한 불균형 상태의 비대칭 구조를 대칭 구조로 바꾸려는 언어 보편적인 변화인 것이다.

This work shows how the adoption of a dual-dicing process for silicon wafer separation affects the thermal-cycling reliability (i.e. $-65^{\circ}C$ to $150^{\circ}C$) of the semiconductor devices utilizing lead-on-chip (LOC) die attach technique. In-situ examinations show that conventional single-dicing process directly attacks the edge region of diced devices but dual-dicing process effectively protects the edge region of diced devices from dicing-induced mechanical damage. Probably, this is because the preferential and sacrificial fracture of notched regions induced on the active surface of wafers saves the edge regions. It was also investigated through thermal-cycling tests that the number of thermal-cycling induced failures is much lower at the dual-dicing process than the single-dicing process.

This article shows that the susceptibility of the device pattern to thermal stress-induced damage has a strong dependence on its proximity to the device comer in semiconductor devices utilizing lead-on-chip (LOC) die attach technique. The result, as explained based on numerical calculation and experiment, indicateds that the stress-driven damage potential of the passivation layer is the highest at the device comer. Thus, the bonding pads, which are very susceptible to passivation damage, should be designed to be located along the central region rather than the peripheral region of the device.

This work shows that the grinding-induced scratches formed on the back surface of silicon chips can highly influence the flexural strength of the chips. Meanwhile, in a case that excellent adhesion between the back surface and the plastic package body maintains, the flexural strength of plastic-encapsulated packages is not so sensitive to the geometry of the scratch marks. This article explains why such different flexural fracture behavior between bare chips and plastic-encapsulated chips appears.

It is important to use frequency resource effectively to support much more users, to maximize the DS-CDMA system performance. In this paper, we use MPSK, QAM, MFSK and PR coder as a baseband modulation method for DS-CDMA system. Increasing user's number, we compare the performance of each system using different baseband modulation method, by expecting BER performance. BPSK has generally good performance, in case of low power operation of terminal 8FSK has excellent performance relatively, PR has excellent performance when high power operation of terminal and also good for situation of excessive user's number. QAM is not suitable for DS-CDMA system.

In view of the importance of Pb-Sn eutectic alloy in soldered interconnection, the creep phenomena in eutectic bulk solders with microstructures similar to the solder joints have been investigated. A variety of loading paths (tensile, fatigue, load relaxation, and creep) along with microstructural examination were employed to characterize constitutieve behavior and identify potential creep mechanisms(e.g. grain boundary sliding) that might have an impact on fatigue. The experimental work was directed as a clearer description of what some of these phenomena might actually be and how they might be related to the underlying creep mechanisms. The mechanisms of grain boundary sliding and creep strengthening in a wavy eutectic alloy were proposed and the creep strength can be explained based on the stabilized subgrain boundaries caused by the two-phase microstructure.
Renormalization in softness assimilation

Softness assimilation was once a faithfully kept phonological rule in Russian, but now it is losing its effect due to various linguistic and extra-linguistic factors and has become difficult to be strictly regulated. Softness assimilation is a regressive assimilation that spreads [+palatal] feature of following consonant to preceding consonant in a cluster, which appeared after the loss of reduced vowel. This rule was followed well from Old Russian to the beginning of 19C, with an exception to some consonants. However, softness assimilation is becoming less valid due to an increase in importance of consonant and contact with foreign language. Because of this phenomenon of decreasing softness assimilation, it is classified as an exceptional phonological rule that is difficult to be explained linguistically in modern Russian. However, softness assimilation is a phonological rule that well reflects the change of phonological tendency from Old Russian to Contemporary Russian. In other words, in Old Russian, in which the feature of preceding consonant was dependent on following vowel, softness or hardness of a consonant was not an inherent feature but a feature decided by following vowel. And even after the loss of reduced vowel, softness or hardness of preceding segment was decided by that of following segment when two consonants were combined. However, as Russian became consonant-oriented, feature of consonant no longer depends on its position, and inherent feature of underlying form is surfaced. Such a change can be explained with the difference between rankings of constraints in each period in Optimality theory. Before Literary Russian, in which the sharing of feature between segments was important, the constraint IDENT[palatal] was most important. As such, the softness assimilation, which spreads [palatal] feature of following consonant to preceding, was productive. However, as Literary Russian changed from vowel-oriented to consonant-oriented, the inherent feature of consonant became important. Thus, the identical place of articulation came to decide whether the softness assimilation will happen. Therefore, in this period, IDENTC’[place] was the most significant constraint for softness assimilation. Assimilation often occurred only within the clusters consisted of consonants of the same place so that they would not involve any other movements. Later in Contemporary Russian, the inherent feature of consonant is surfaced remarkably, regardless of the environment. Consonants, except for dental, show a tendency to maintain underlying [palatal] feature in surface form. The exception of dental results from the specificities of dental that include an easy movement of tongue, which allows the tongue to approach palatal with ease. Thus, in Contemporary Russian, the constraint IDENTIO that keeps the feature input in output is considered the most important. These factors are surely not the only ones that influence the softness assimilation. Linguistic factors, such as the manner of articulation of consonants and frontness/non-frontness of preceding/following vowel, and extra-linguistic factors, such as age, level of education or region of speakers can also have huge influence. This is why in Contemporary Russian, the softness assimilation is realized as a phonological rule with many exceptions, not as a coherent one.
Coevolution Models with Dynamically Changing Mutation Partners

We study a modified Bak-Sneppen model with dynamically changing mutation partners. Each site on a one-dimensional lattice has a fitness value fi. In a unit update, the site which has the minimum fitness value fmin is selected. Then the selected site and the sites within a distance l from the selected site are updated to new random values. The distance l is stochastically chosen from a power-law distribution P(l) l.μ. We measure the critical fitness and the avalanche distribution in stationary states. For μ < 2, the critical fitness value satisfies the power law fc(N) N.. For μ > 2, fc is finite and approaches the one-dimensional value as μ ! 1. Logarithmic behavior is shown at μ = 2. The avalanche distribution satisfies a normal power law P(s) s. . For μ 2, the exponent ’s have the same value 1.66 within the error bar. However, with increasing μ the avalanche exponent is continuously varying for μ > 2 and approaches the exponent of the onedimensional BS model. We also study the dynamical network structures developed by the present coevolution model.?劑맰
