Art education devotes to childrens' successful 'Total education'. Also through Art education childrens' cognitivity can be developed. In this study, Art educational curriculum especially in clay art is studied for development of childrens' cognitivity. Nowadays, comparing to the past, definition of cognitivity is used in broad way. Various aspects of the cognitivity are correlated each other. Jean Piaget insists the importace of the childrens' accomodation and assimilation for cognitivity. There are scholars insist on the informational strategic approach in cognitive study. They see the cognitive development is similar to the gathering of informations in the computer. Scholars who stand for the new piaget theory insist on combining the theory of Piaget and informational strategic approach. They assume that the childrens' cognitive changes are related with the childrens' abilities of solving problems. Scholars who insists that children are in the social context think childrens' cognitivity is related with their social environments. Childrens' cognitivity also develops when they grow. Infants can have their visual and haptic cognitivity at the same time. These cognitivity seems toe come from nature. In the early childhood children think according to the surfacific facts, older children think according to the assumptions which is related with the basic order. As childrens' cognitivity comes from the inducive reasoning, adolescents' cogrutivity is come from the deductive reasoning. During childrens' Art activity, accomodation and assimilation are repeated. Children accept new aspects and try to unify with already accepted concepts. When children usc art materials they recognize that their thoughts are visualizing. Victor Lowenfeld thoughts that childrens' repetition of the schema mean the searching for the order with the childrens' self confidence. The aim of this study was to investigate the actual condition in the clothing behavior. The data for this study were collected through questionnaires from 949 Students attending 2boys' high schools, 2girls' high schools, and 1 coeducation high School. The results were as follows; 1. In clothing behavior of the students, the more they had clothing, the more they were satisfied. 2. Self-expression through clothing was hinged on their tastes and individually rather than fashion or other's opinions. 3. It was also found that most of students took much more interest in design and well-known products rather than Price in their clothing purchase. 4. It seemed to be a positive trend that the clothing fit for students should be modest. 5. They wanted to wear practical clothing suitable and comfortable for their bodies.
A Cross Cultural Study on STEAM Education in Korea and United States

STEAM education in Korea has originally begun in order to solve the problem of students avoiding science and mathematics. The necessity and importance of STEAM education lied on resolving the current educational problem of severe examination and entrance-centered Korean education environment. Korean educators believe STEAM can contribute to improve the global literacy of students in their future of a new global era(Yakman & Lee, 2012). In the US, STEM education has been a major component to 21st century learning, and the idea of moving STEM to STEAM is a hot topic in the field of education because the arts have the ability to open up new ways of teaching, learning, and thinking. The aim of this study is to examine the status of STEAM education both in Korea and Unites states as one of the exemplary educational frameworks for the 21stcentury. This study employs cross-cultural research and qualitative content analysis by analyzing and synthesizing the findings of the accumulated theory and practice on STEAM education. It is expected that the study will provide distinct standards for art educators to understand the value and importance of the arts in a STEM education and STEM-integrated convergence education. As a result, this study will bring up discussions and implications about what developments, improvement, and changes are needed for the better direction towards STEAM education in the field of art education.
Rhodiola rosea Root 열수 추출물의 항산화 및 항균효과

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the antioxidant and antibacterial activities of Rhodiola rosea (R. rosea ) root hot water extract as a cosmetic material. Methods: R. rosea root was extracted with hot water and used as a sample. Total polyphenol content, total flavonoid content, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity and 2,2'-azinobis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid (ABTS) radical scavenging activity of R. rosea root hot water extract were analyzed to measure antioxidant effects. Additionally, the antibacterial effect on Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus ), a skin-like fungus, was measured using the paper disk method. Results: The DPPH radical scavenging activity and ABTS radical scavenging activity of R. rosea root hot water extract was 57.88% and 93.13%, respectively, at 1 mg/ mL. The total polyphenol and flavonoid concentrations were 375.30±4.63 μg/mL and 497.82±19.55 μg/mL, respectively. The paper disk method for the antibacterial effect on S. aureus showed clear zones at a concentration of 0.01–10 mg/mL. Conclusion: The antioxidant and antibacterial effects of R. rosea root hot water extract were confirmed, confirming its potential as a cosmetic material. 목적: 본 연구에서는 Rhodiola rosea Root (R. rosea root) 열수 추출물의 화장품 원료로서의 가능성을 확인하기 위하여 항산화 및항균활성을 측정하였다. 방법: R. rosea root를 열수(hot water, HE)로 추출하여 시료로 활용하였다. R. rosea root 열수 추출물의항산화 효능을 확인하기 위하여 DPPH radical 소거능, ABTS radical 소거능, 폴리페놀과 플라보노이드 함량 측정을 실시하였다. 또한, paper disc법을 사용하여 피부 상재균인 Staphylococcus aureus (S.aureus) 에 대한 항균 효과를 측정하였다. 결과: R. rosea root 열수 추출물의 DPPH radical 및 ABTS radical 소거능의 측정 결과, 1 mg/mL의 농도에서 각각 57.88%, 93.13% 소거능이 확인되었다. 총 폴리페놀 함량은 375.30±4.63 μg/mL으로 나타났으며, 총 플라보노이드 함량은 497.82±19.55 μg/mL으로 나타났다. 피부 상재균인 S.aureus에 대한 항균 효과를 측정한 결과 0.01-10 mg/mL 농도에서 모두l ecar zone을 관찰할 수 있었다. 결론: R. rosea root 열수 추출물의 항산화 및 항균 효과를 확인하여 화장품 원료로의 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.
